Well it's his job to find things out, what beeing a journalist and all. You also make out like we are the Gestapo, it's just a football club with normal people working in it, who you know talk about things. Clearly Lallana, a footballer who can't train due to an injury has not breathed a word of the said injury to anyone. It's a rumour, just like all the others that have been posted on this thread, might be some truth in it, might not be.

I watched both the game against us and against Brighton and over the course of both games they were thoroughly outplayed in very department except finishing, they took their very few chances whilst us and Brighton didn't take ours and in the Brighton game they were very lucky. If you had played both those games again Reading would have been beaten 9 times out of 10. At the end of the day we were consistently good throughout last season with a few minor blips, reading were very good for about 6 months and poor before it, they are now showing their early season championship form and quality.

"Meanwhile, the Daily Mail says that another potential target is French centre-back Nicolas Isimat Mirin, another player who is out of contract in 18 months. The 21-year-old is a regular for Valenciennes in Ligue 1 and is a French U21 international. Liverpool are targeting him because they believe first choice centre-half target - Feyenoord's Stefan de Vrij – could be too expensive." http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/premier-league-paper-round-three-euro-stars-linked-075216522.html Maybe we were also having a look at him when looking at that Sanchez felllow? anyone know anything about him?

We have Arsenal at home soon, it will be a good marker to see how much we have improved since that 6-1 drubbing at the Emirates.
-
Thing is young keepers are always a risk for big fees, look at the likes of Wright, Kirkland, Craig Gordon, maybe De Gea. Whilst I like the idea of us shelling out for highly rated young prospects, especially those coveted by big clubs, I thik currently with experienced keepers like Freidel, Robinson, Given around for low fees, spending £8-10 million on a keeper is a waste for us when we need quality in other areas that will likely cost a lot more. Maybe if we stay up then a new bid in the summer might be a better time.
-
By the reckoning of that article, £6 million wasn't enough in the summer and they now think he is worth more so that;s surely pushing the price up to closer £10 million. Can't see us spending that much on a keeper and I can't see that he is worth it. Pretty sure Liverpool are favourites to sign him.
-
On a low fee and a big cut in wages he would be a good signing, he's got a qulaity left foot and would at the very least provide quality delivery. One bad move doesn't make him a bad player, the high transfer fee coupled with Liverpools then poor performance has knocked the confidence from him.
-
Rumours are back to Brazil, but we could maybe convince him for a short spell in the premier league, but yeh wages might be too high. Only orginally signed by PSG though for 5.5 million euros. Breaks are 'young and hungry' policy but I think his quality would be worth it. Only has 6 months on his contract as well.
-
Could save some dosh on the transfer fee and he was pre-qatari era when PSG weren't loaded so he can't be on massive wages. Like I said he's 31 so you would probably only give him a 2 year deal so over the term of contract with a low transfer I think it would be affordable. Kind of quality though that would give us a short term burst, good dribbler, excellent delivery and scores goals.
-
What about Nene from PSG, think he has been numped down the pecking order with all their imports, a bit old but quality.
-
When Gazza got injured Davis replaced him, if Boruc was going to play then it would have been in that game.

Saints ranked 8th in the English rankings for player production
tajjuk replied to mdearlove's topic in The Saints
Data is a bit odd because Bilbao are 14th, yet they only play basque players so almost all of their come through their academy and they have sold players to other clubs. Yet it puts them behind Arsenal? It also credits Paul pogba as a utd product? So it is essentially counting players who have been nicked from other academys, so you could have a player at 18 and then train him to 21 and that counts as developed. -
some interesting stats on the bottom 5 clubs centre forwards
tajjuk replied to jimbojones10's topic in The Saints
What defines a big chance? Basically shows that Lambert is good and would score more at a better team, and confirms my assesment that Arouna Kone is sh*t after DPS argued wtih me that he would have been a good signing for us -
Honestly I don't know, would be a gamble, but maybe worth it to stay in the league considering the TV deal next year. I can see us spending more than most around us bar maybe QPR. To be fair if rumours were to be believed in the summer another £12 million was going on a CB and Phillips. I think we are going to struggle with the centre back anyway, I think the quality of player we need is going to be more than what the club want to pay.
-
Pretty sure he was linked with us, norwich and arsenal in the summer. Any premier league club is an up from Anderlecht. saying that - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11863/8316598/Anderlecht-midfielder-Lucas-Biglia-sets-sights-on-January-transfer-to-Italy http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/121210/manchester-united-and-arsenal-target-lucas-biglia-set-bundes http://www.insidefutbol.com/2012/12/12/wolfsburg-enter-lucas-biglia-chase/74753/ Man Utd, Arsenal, Dortmund and Wolfsburg all mentioned in there so we might be abit low for him. Priced touted is 8 million euros so with a bit of negotiation we could probably get him for about £5 million
-
Vlad is a good name for a defender however - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1394210-ac-milan-transfer-rumors-who-is-rossoneri-target-vlad-chiriches Think we already have two centre-backs who fit that description and maybe need a more physical defender.
-
It's a good gesture by the lads and they all look like they genuinely wanted to be there and are interested even Gaston who despite the language difficulties has a massive grin in vitrually every photo. 16 out of 30 though is the saddest, I think with Danny Butterfield, poor little kid, but good to see they didn't just go see the ones who would know who they are but all the kids.
-
Well seeing as Boruc seems to have been cast aside as Davis got the nod the other day, no.1 priority for me would be a keeper - One of - Freidel Given Robinson Would fit the bill and wouldn't cost much up front. We also need a better CB to challenge for a first team place, a defensive midfielder to challenge for place against Morgan/Cork, and another wide midfielder such as Ince, Phillips, Scott Sinclair, maybe that Will Hughes guy from Derby. I think the centre back will be the toughtest one. Doubt we can afford another left back that will be better than what Shaw has shown and Fox is a good enough back up.
-
Why would a club sing a pleyr and then immediately loan him out again, could understand a youngster but I'm presuming for the Chilean club he would be a key player. Maybe after his summer contract shenanigans he might be a bit more realistic about his contract demands seeing as he clearly left the french club to earn more money and then ended up back there.
-
Did anyone see the 'Scored first' table on MOTD2, think we were like 3rd or 4th in that, too many leads thrown away.
-
Scott Sinclair on loan? seeing as he is doing f*ck all at City, not the same player but lightning quick, excellent season last year used to playing in a passing/possession team.
-
I thought he was very good for Blackburn last season nade some excellent saves despite their poor position, he's also on a free and at 33 isn't that old for a keeper. I would lean towards Freidel but it's looking more likely that won't happen. No, it doesn't, Going to be an interesting meeting with NC if this is true. Did like this bit from wiki though - I don't really understand why he signed for another club then got loaned back to his old club?
-
Well throw some money at them and they might sell to cash in, but I would imagine Hangeland is looking at a top 6 club, hence why he hasn't signed a new contract.
-
True, true, personally I agree in some respects had Berbatov been an option for us then I think he has so much quality above the current squad that you would go for it as an 'X factor signing', although I think Ramirez is our equivalent and he's only 21. Same should apply if we buy a centre back, if there is a top quality one out there that we could get for £6 million or so plus big wages then we should go for it even if he's 30+, because signings like that will take you to the next level and worth it for the two seasons or so. But I think the club's policy is pretty rigid and I can't see them changing it any time soon, but at least it means we are unlikely to go down the QPR route, we have a young hungry team with few egos who are improving and learning, they have already got better in their 16 games. If we go down we most of our players will have decent re-sale values and we won't be burgeoned with a massive wage bill. I always thought though that Lamberts iconic status makes it tough for any other striker at the club, someone filling in or replacing him has big foots to fill, maybe this + the big fee + new to the league has afffected Jay Rod. Any striker signing is going to be tricky to get right with Lambert around. I also think that Jay Rod will score some crucial goals for us this season.
-
Would rather have Norwich beat Wigan and Fulham beat QPR, think we want the teams around us to loose as much as possible, whilst it would be nice to push up the table ahead of the likes of Norwich or Fulham or Newcastle etc. at the end of the season all that matters is to be comfortably avoiding relegation, whether we finish 17th or 12th doesn't really matter so I'd rather see teams like Wigan and QPR on terrble loosing runs as it gives us a better chance of beating them, 18 pts still available against those around us. We are essentially in a mini-league with Wigan, Sunderland, Villa, Reading and QPR. Hopefully Sunderland get hammered by Man Utd so they are really low on confidence byt he time they play us.
