This. Mishandling a cross that goes to no one OR letting a weak freekick go under you for an undeserved goal that costs two points? Kicking out of touch way past the halfway line OR kicking straight to an opposition striker who runs free and scores a goal that costs two points? Boruc was a nervy and low on confidence, with the fans on his back, he mishandled a few balls but neither led to a chance for Arsenal. Once the game went on he was calmy collecting crosses under pressure. What was key for me was that at no point did the defence look unsettled by it. They looked more clam and composed than the have done in front of Kelvin or Gazza.

To be fair all of those keepers bar Cesar have made some horrific errors this year, Krul isn't close to his form from last year like many of his Newcastle counterparts, you only have to look at the game against us with the failed clearance that went straight to clyne. Federici was dropped for McCarthy who looked way better (was fantastic against Swansea away stopped them getting beaten by 5 or 6), he's only back in because McCarthy got injured. Al Habsi did this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ657-3VIps. Although Boruc has looked wobbly I'm not sure any of his errors have led to goals. The standard of keeping this year like the standard of defending throughout the premiership has been poor.

Eh? Long term successor to a 17 year old is another 17 year old.

A.K.A no I don't and I have been found out We went through all this during the window. There are points for either side but really no one knows enough. - We don't know who we approached for. - We don't know who were the club's primary targets. - We don't know why any deals fell through, if they did. - We don't know what funds the club has, how much one deal effected other finances and whether this stopped or restricted bids for other targets.

maybe he was after this incident - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H34ye5RPvmE

Very true, they are also two points clear I think unlike us, but maybe the lure of playing in front of 30k instead of 8k might work. lol, there are plenty about and I'm sure there are plenty near SMS. Failling that we could just get the youth teams out there in disguise. I don't think anyone at SSN has ever anticipated that mighty Transfer Deadline Day might not be that interesting if no one is buying or selling anyone that good.

It's between us, Villa, Wigan, for 17th with QPR and Reading down for me. I think now the team is settled we are better than all of them, but we are playing catch up and the lost points at home to Wigan, Sunderland, Swansea and Fulham may cost us so we need to use our improved resiliance and form to either beat Wigan and Villa away, as well beat the likes of Liverpool, Everton, West Ham and Stoke at home. I think Newcastle will have enough, even without Ba, as long as Cabaye and Ben Arfa come back fairly soon they are getting a new full back in and probably another striker. They are now however 'too good to go down'. Unless Villa get a couple of decent wins against Ipswich and Bradford I think they will be in a black hole of confidence that they may struggle to get out of and we need to fully capitalise when we go there.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOOmSjBi7S0 Didn't realise it was Morgan, it is actually Guly's tackle that wins the ball. Morgan and Cork press Podolski back who passes to Koscielny, who tries to clear but gets tackled by Guly and the loose ball falls to Morgan. so..... Kraken was correct. It then looks like Morgan tries to bend it round Koscielny with the outside of his boot to feed Lambert but seems to stumble as he does it. Puncheons's 'pass' is just an attempt to control the ball IMO, he looks surprised that Ramirez is there but does well to get out of the way. Terrible all round play though from Arsenal cause the goal from good pressing, Podolskis poor pass, Koscielny should have cleared, then Sagna should have cleared and then Vermaelen should have cleared from Puncheon.

Transfer deadline days we never see a SSN reporter outside SMS or Staplewood.

Me too. They will pick up more points in March/April but personally I can't see two wins in there for them, yesterday was a one-off IMO and I think they will get thumped by Spurs next, especially with Bale back. Realistically though we could only be looking at about 3pts from the next 6, I think we need to beat Villa and Wigan away which will be tough asks and we are unlikely to get anything from Utd, City, Everton and away at Newcastle.

Logically the player will choose Napoli if he can, gets to stay in Italy, playing for a bigger club than us, who finished 5th last year and third before that, he will walk into the team because they have lost two defenders to long term bans and he'll get more money. However if they aren't an option I reckon he will move to us because we'll pay him more than Cagliari and with their financial troubles they will sell all their best players so will get worse (currently 4th from bottom).
-
I'm not a bookies, it's just my opinion. Where do you see the extra points (and how many) coming from?
-
Suppose it depends on Cagliari, if you go the rumours of us offering 10.5 million euros and Napoli offering 7.5 million, they would say stump up the extra 3 mil or get lost. Napoli basically deceide if they want to pay that much (or if they can) and will probably make a bid for the Juve player who might be cheaper.

Well really it came from a terrible clearance by Sagna, not sure Guly was inolved at all to be honest, think Morgan intercepted it, we broke forward and we should have created a chance from there but whoever was on the ball failed to get it to the completely free Lambert who was on the edge of the box and would have been one v one with the keeper. After the Sagna clearance there was a bit of a melee where Puncheon miskicked and then I think he stabbed it back to Ramirez (not sure Puncheons touch was intentional), who's finish was the only decent bit of play in the whole move. Guly's workrate was excellent, at one point around the 70th minute I think, he was one of the furthest players forward when play broke down but did a 60 yard sprint to get back and make a tackle before Morgan or Davis got back, his workrate was top notch. His attacking play wasn't much though, an ok long shot and a few crosses that were a bit too low. But then he created two goals against Stoke and offered some extra height at the back. I think in the last two games he has shown he's a decent option at this level and brings an alternative to Lallana but Lallana is a far better player and we look far more likely to score when he plays.
-
I hope not, there is no thrid party involved and I think if we have made a bid it's up to the other clubs to match it, of the ones mentioned Everton have no money, Juventus would only sign him as back up and don't seem that interested, so it looks like it's between us and Napoli. If Napoli bow out cos they can't afford then it's up to the player but I would presume we would have alsready sounded out some interest with him before the bid.
-
Yoshida for me, shaky start, played out of position but looked excellent since, was immense against QPR away and again showed his class against Arsenal. He has made a world of difference to Fonte IMO, who I can't include in this list as he was very poor at the start. Then Shaw, Cork and Lambert in no particular order. Morgan was the best player at the start but has faded a bit and he 'does a nasri' when trying to block a shot which annoys me. Puncheon is still too up and down as well and is too one dimensional Lallana has looked dangerous but needs more goals.
-
Hopefully they will go for the other one, by the rumours it sounds like we are trying to put them off with a high fee so they loose interest as the player will most likely want to go to Napoli.
-
Lol, very true. Their next three league games are Spurs (H), West Ham (A), Man City (H) no points there for me. then Norwich at home is winnable, Swansea away is a loss as is Utd at home. At best 3pts from the next 6 games for me.
-
Thought David Moyes came out and said they had no cash and were looking for loans?
-
No Cech, No Mata, No Cole, No Ramires, No Hazard, No Mikel. Pretty sure if Arsenal had rested over half their first team we would have won comfortably. AND Chelsea still had 58% possession and 23 shots. QPR are still going down.

I'm not making a decision based on 3 games, I'm merely not writing him off after 3 games, which is what you are doing, a HUGE difference. He also has pedigree of performing well at the highest level, including last year. something neither of our other keepers have, Davis was a flop in the Premier League first time and has been again, Gazza looks very much the league 2 keeper he was last year. Boruc has regularly played top flight football, champions league football and international football. To write him off after what? a poor baptism of fire against West Ham, where the defence were even more shodddy, an ok game v Spurs where neither goal he could have done much about and were again down to poor defending and a slightly wobbly 20 minutes yesterday is plain stupidity. Gazza got 8 games where he was dodgy in pretty much all of them, and cost us points. Boruc deserves at least that many games on reputation alone. Over the course of 90 minutes alone it looked like he regained his composure and confidence, given a run of games I think he will put all this talk of buying a keeper to bed.
-
Many people were writing him off as not good enough after a handful of games, exactly what you are doing with Boruc. Pre-season is important to all players fitness over the season, the work they do in July/August gets them though March/April. You can't do the same level of intensity during the season due to the midweek games, travelling, match preparation etc. And as Nigel has said, he's been working hard in Training hence why he got a chance yesterday. Also just because he's big doesn't equal unfit, people label Rooney as 'big', but he works as hard as anyone. PG has had 8 games and not impressed in any, that's a fair few more than 3.
-
Entirely depends if we can afford it or not will determine it it's a gamble. No way of knowing that now so might as well enjoy the ride. Other clubs fans will damn us either way, spend too much and were doing a 'QPR' or 'Leeds', not spend much and we 'have no money' 'no rich owners' etc.
-
Entirely disagree. We aren't expected to beat chelsea anyway even with a full strength side. A good FA cup run is a distraction. We have a decent first 11 that has maybe shown that they can compete well in this league, 2 or 3 injuries though and we look a weaker team than Reading so we want to limit the amount of games the likes of Lambert, Shaw, Cork, Yoshida etc play. You are right though we don't want to get battered so 3 or 4 changes for me, not wholesale. Starts for Jay Rod, Mayuka, JWP, Richardson, then De Ridder, Hoiveld off the bench. This season is all about staying in the league, if we push on in future season we will then have a go in the cups. That game is a real sticky wicket for Villa, do they play a full team with the carrot of a Wembley final but risk tired players/injuries for the crucial game against us, or rest a few players and get done over by League 2 Bradford, denting their low confidence even further.
-
Because pre-season is where you get lots of time to do fitness work, whereas you have far less time during the season because of the matches and match preparation training. So essentially you write him off on 3 appearances Based on that logic Yoshida (Probably MOM yesterday) should be nowhere near the team.
