  1. Some people are, others have essentially posted the same thing several times on several posts. No one in the thread has actually said this is a good idea, not that many people have noticed.
  2. Quite a difference there. People might have their issues with NC, but he's not saddled a very profitable club with massive loans that need millions and millions a year worth of interest to service and he doesn't take money out of the club as 'fees' for his sons. What he does is generally what he thinks is in the best interests of SFC, what the Glaziers do is generally in the best interests of the Glaziers.
  3. Spot on. Some people on here are massively inflexible in their thinking, it;s their way or nothing and they just spout the same drivel over and over, to be honest there is little point talking to them. We aren't going to expand to 58k, the maximum for the stadium is 48k and we aren't going to expand to that any time soon. However the club are very seriously thinking about some level of expansion whatever some stuck in the mud 'nothing will change, not possible' SWF poster says. So maybe discuss sensibly with a bit of an open mind or get out of the thread.
  4. Provdiing we are in the premiership next year, it would make sense to expand one of the stands to increase capacity by about 4-5k as we would be able to seel those tickets for games against Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs etc and it would pay for itself. Regularly pushing the attendance past 40k would be more difficult though.
  5. Indeed. Think it will sell out. As will City. We could get around 38 to 40k I reckon for about half our games in the premiership. But 60k is like another planet.
  6. We're buying a city from China and having it shipped over and put in the solent.
  7. Thought Joe Jordan said it was just a groin strain rather than a tear. If so it's probably 2-3 weeks not months.
  8. 58,000 ? Are you sure? Almost double in size, bigger than every stadium in the league apart form the Emirates and Old Trafford?!? 40k I could see as reasonable, we have a chance at filling that. However, nearly 60k is absurd unless premierhsip tickets are like £10 or less. I didn't even think St Mary's could be extended that much, wouldn't it essentially have to be re-built?
  9. How many other English strikers are left? Le Fondre - scored 10 goals Bent - not playing, not scoring Carroll - only just returned form injury poor golsscoring record at West Ham Crouch - only 5 league goals ???
  10. Fonte and Yoshida, Forren to earn his place in the team (although depending on Fotne he'll get this chance soon anyway). Hooiveld very much number 4.
  11. Yeh, but look at the games around those home games. Stoke, Everton, Man Utd, Man Utd, Arsenal all away. (all games we have done) Man City and Liverpool to play at home. They realistically have 6 games to pick up their points from. If they don't get the results they need in those home games they are going to have some trouble getting them elsewhere. Massive pressure to win those 6 pointers. Wigan and QPR have the toughest fixtures run in for me. Wigan have away trips to Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, West Brom, West Ham, plus QPR and Reading. Ours is about the same as Villas. March/April will decide our season. 5 home games, and winnable away games at Norwich, Reading and Swansea.
  12. Thing is Man Utd away, Everton Away were early goals and not palces we would expect to win, same Utd Home, Man City away etc. Would be interesting to see points dropped late in the game i.e. in the last 5 minutes or so and if we are worse than anyone else in this regard.
  13. That would be fine but most people's responses aren't proportional or well thought out. We had a dissapointing result on Saturday, but it was still a point away from home, we're still out of the bottom 3 by 3 points. Looking at some of the post match reactions you'd think we were already relegated. From that we get this week's scapegoat -> Gaston Ramirez. If he doesn't play next week or plays well that will be overlooked and someone else will get criticised. Like I said we've had threads on here having a go at various players at some point this season all of which have been over the top. The criticisms of Gaston are no different. He was our best player against Everton merely two games ago.
  14. Nope, you don't sign players for one season.
  15. I think this brings me the most confidence, we probably have the toughest game but the only team there that might expect 3 points is Villa, all the rest should probably get beaten so anything from this game would be a big bonus. I can't see us getting anything at Newcastle after the way the played against Chelsea so we could be back in the bottom 3 by March which will be a massive month for us. 3 home games, massive 6 pointer against QPR, winnable away fixture against Norwich and who knows at home to Chelsea and Liverpool. Then April where we have a decent chance of winning all our games.
  16. QPR, Villa and Wigan for me. Villa in freefall, another blow to morale letting a 3 -1 lead slip. QPR aren't scoring. I watched QPR v Norwich on Saturday and it was a dreadful game devoid of quality. Basically if Tarrabt doesn;t score or create something QPR don't score and Cesar is keeping them in games. Wigan just look poor, and Reading seem to have got a lucky knack of picking up points at the moment. Some massive 6 pointers coming up though.
  17. In a word no. He's had some bad games, get over it. Puncheon has been just as useless in recent games, can't see a thread on him. As some above have said some of the best premier league players who have come from abroad have taken a while to adapt and had indifferent first seasons. I don't really know what you lot expected from a 21 year old who has never played in the league before, didn't speak the language, didn't get a pre-season to setlle in and has a had a fair few injuries. He's been inconsistent, that what I expected. But then most of the squad have been inconsistent.
  18. Stoke have scored just 24. They are lucky they have a very good defence. We need to take our chances better that is all. Our style of play is fine and good to watch, it's the reason we managed to score two yesterday and create several other clear cut chances. Poor set piece defending cost us the game.
  19. Don't forget Yoshida was a back up buy and useless. Pretty sure there have been threads and general over the top ignorant criticisms for:- Boruc Fonte Hooiveld Davis Lallana Jay Rod Morgan Puncheon Guly and now Gaston. pretty much leaves Shaw, Cork and Lambert. I'll look forward to some posters self implosion and over the top reaction when one of those three has a few bad games. All of those above players have proven the idiots wrong and I'm certain Gaston will.
  20. If QPR can get a point against them at home then i don't see why we can't. Not having Toure and Kompany, two of their key players will also only help us. Yes their team is full of world class players but take two of their best away and it becomes less good.
  21. Lol, like it would benefit any of our young players to go play for such a team in a terrible run with no training facilities to loose week in week out, they would come back worse.
  22. Whilst I agree that we need to be winning this, I disagree with the last statement. We almost beat Arsenla and Everton and out played Utd. If we can show the same spirit and performance from those games we will beat one of the big teams.
  23. In the long term it is still a possible factor. We just haven't signed many in January as I'm presuming MP thinks that the squad we have is good enough and any additions would have to obviously improve the squad.. On that basis I think in the window only the following signings will improve their teams:- Ba to Chelsea Emanuelson to Fulham Sturridge and Coutinho to Liverpool Debuchy and Sissoko to Newcastle Remy and Samba to QPR Forren to us Graham to Sunderland Lewis Holtby to Spurs And I think that is it, none of the other transfer appear to improve the teams they have moved to, they add more options and one or two might turn out better than expected., however not a huge influx of quality there. The 'biggest' singing of the window was probably Samba really and QPR had to throw the bank at him. West Brom, Swansea, Man City, Saints, Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man Utd all signed either no one or just one player. Spurs, Stoke, Norwich, and Liverpool only signed two players. What it shows is that the January transfer window is not generally a good time to make quality signings.
  24. Well 95% says it all really. I think our first XI is pretty strong and has shown that in recent games. Also the likes of Jos, Guly, Davis, JWP etc. have all shown they are better back ups than many thought. We have Mayuka to come back in and hopefully he will get some chances. The club have set a policy of singing players that improve the squad, the went after targets such as Coutinho to try and do that but haven't gone out and signed players that just bloat the squad and add nothing. Our 'rivals' have added - - Aside from Remy and Samba, QPR have added Jenas, Townsend and a fairly unknown Korean. - Reading have added a couple of league 1 players, a player from Portugal who was warming the bench for a mid table club, and a pretty average right back. - Wigan have added three loans and free transfer. One is back up keeper and none of whom are obvious startes. - Norwich have added a striker who has a record of in 45 goals in 178 games in the MLS and Bechhio who has a pretty average championship and league 1 scoring record. - Villa have added a young DM who has only played french second division football and spurs youth product who has spent most of his time in the MLS. The only club that is signifiganty stronger is Newcastle really, and maybe QPR but then they needed the most strengthening and Harry still has to get that Motely Crew of players into a team. A pretty rubbish transfer window all in all, shown by Beckham joining PSG taking all the headlines (especially when he could have moved at any point being a free agent) We seem to have a tight knit group of players who are enjoying their football and have adapted to the premier league, a load of additions could have destroyed the morale. If we get a collection of injuries to key players we will be in trouble but that's true of any club even the Utds and Citys still rely on a few key players and it's certainly true of anyone in the bottom half. Lallana and Fonte have been missing in recent weeks and are pretty key but we have still picked up good results.
  25. The emergence/renewed form/return from injury/improvement, of the likes of Shaw, Boruc, Cork, Puncheon, Fonte, Yoshida, Morgan. Has made the requested January signing targets that many on here around screamed for around October/November time uneccessary. At any point our 'must have priorites' transfer targets were GK, DL, DC, DC, DMC, AMR. By the time the window opened they were pretty much AMR and DC. We got a centre back.
