Michael Owen's claimed predicament should stand as a warning. It's no good running him into the ground now whilst his body is still developing. There's no doubt he'll be pushing L Baines for the England left back position before long and in the mean time he'll have the various youth set ups to play for. We need him for the long term, in the meantime we might have to suffer some inferiority from others in order to wrap him in Fergie's 'cotton wool' that's prolonged some of his stars' careers.
  4. Someone is very keen to find him. http://insearchofali.wordpress.com/
  5. Can you confirm? I can't believe the facebook page is his
  6. For some reason a girlfriend of mine at the time saw fit to buy me that shirt and the away one. I hadn't worn a football top since the Patrick Xerox days when I was a kid so you can imagine my forced grin when I opened the wrapping to find the Pony by name and nature apparel before me. However, they survived being stashed in the loft but as time went on and nostalgia sets in, I found a strange urge to pull out the top again. I had a Pompey supporting mate come stay for the weekend a while back and it seemed appropriate to decorate the spare room with the shirt on his arrival. It has its uses. Needless to say it had to be removed. I dare say I could wear it t a Melbourne Heart game one day if Becks comes down his way. They are madly into wearing colours down here. Whenever I catch a glimpse of it in the wardrobe now though, it takes me straight back to a glorious goal by MLT and that bringsa smile to my face.
  7. Something in my bones tells me a Saint is going to stick in a wonder goal today. That and a 3-1 win
  8. No he didn't.
  9. then blah blah blah blah blah Good grief. Are you for real or am I being a complete ***** for getting totally wound up by the utter BS being churned out by complete knobs on this thread. ****ing free speech, you don't have a clue.
  10. Defo the PL effect. A bit like attendances and presumably the pushing back of the tide of Pompey kits being worn up the M27 in recent years.
  11. I'm in Melbourne and would love it if he joined the Heart
  12. Do you try hard at being an utter ***** or does it come natural
  13. They look straight out of the packaging. As I recall, my away Xerox had all sorts of nicks and pulls by the tIme it had it. Pure class though. Think I'd have a tear if I found this little lot. Apps, the black detailing between was on the later Patrick kits. Pretty sure Keegan never had black on the shirt apart from the collar.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20299551#TWEET357641 This may be of interest to those who need a clear handle regarding libel.
  15. This Though of course it turned out it was perfectly feasible to combine the two as you got to realise later on. So I suspect at the base of all our 'what could've beens' is plain laziness. The prospect of another winter training in all weathers on some sodden pitch on the other side of town certainly wasn't a prospect I was looking forward to.
  16. Knocked the game on the head the summer before joining Weston. Mr Bywater had a grasp on the tyro and asked me to reconsider playing. Had a p1ss poor pre season trials and that was that. "A bit more commitment and effort m'lad" seems to have followed me through life. Great players at Weston during my time there though. 83-87 Popped into the new Mayfield Academy this summer and saw Bywater who came up to me (wearing running trainers), he gave me a look, I said, "25 years ago" which knocked him sideways for a bit. By God though, he looks fit as a fiddle. Not a year on him since the day I left which is more than I can say for myself. He was still riding in every day. I suspect on something carbon nowadays. Said he was on the verge of retirement. By the looks of him it's going to be a long one. Alec Perkins was also a great man even though I had the displeasure of a caning from him on a couple of occasions.
  17. Down the road in Melbourne. Not to rub it in but on the veranda out back stretched out on the sofa with a beer. It's half six in the evening and the setting sun is just keeping the temp up enough. My Pompey mate, yes I do, is down from Sydney with the missus and newborn. If we can last the distance it'll be a late one with the pair of us viewing one anothers games in the small hours on our respective laptops courtesy of frontrowsports
  18. NIGE WILL TURN IT AROUND IN NOVEMBER Have faith
  19. Aren't we covered in that area? We're talking additions. SD for JC straight swap, bang...already looking up.
  20. Damn you, how did i miss him.
  21. Best post I've read in weeks. Add a pinch of Mark Dennis and a splash of Terry Hurlock and we'd be sorted.

    Wayne Bridge

I was shot down like a lead balloon for uttering such a profanity just a few short months ago. I don't recall many stepping up to the mark to back me up. All change now it seems. Double his wages and bring Bridgey back to SMS in January. Him and an experienced CB to assist and rebuild Yoshida's confidence which I suspect will be shot by then, and we'll be home safe.
  24. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Southampton-Tram-Stops-Artwork-pdf-/261121526684?pt=UK_art_prints_GL&hash=item3ccc0e4b9c It's for a .jpg doc that can be sent on to canvas printers to enlarge or mount or simply to print off on good quality printing paper and hang frame and hang yourself.
  25. Prone to injury line is bollo x. Would be most happy if he came to SMS as I repeated throughout the summer.
