.he still has plenty left in the tank & gives all despite being reportedly the 2nd richest Brit player in the Prem. Pay him 20-25. Why not if he can slot in and command the back

Sol Campbell apparently eyeing up interest from Notts County. We should be in there! Skate or no skate, he's got the power and experience to make his mark in a L1 defense. He should be ours if the possibility of dropping down a league or two isn't a problem. A real statement like Dave Watson & co back in THE day

they all copy one another. Just look at the back end of the 7series @ how that's copied by the S class

Top drawer appointment when all's said and done and the stats mentioned don't lie. It was a surprise this morning and I've often been told about his ego being a factor but if it gets results and his Charlton experience can be discounted as merely a blip, I'm now looking forward to the season with renewed belief that we do in fact have a bright future.

Poll: Do you think the club should continue selling memberships?
theyin replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
As a London based fan I'm obviously excited by the prospect of away games I can easily get to (travel & pocket). Having membership would allow me the chance to get to these games without pleasing the fact that just because I live in London doesn't mean I'm a fan of the local team SFC are playing. I once had to describe the journey (as I remembered it from 20 odd years ago) of the number 5 bus from the city centre to Sholing just to prove I was from Southampton. I'll definitely sign up if it makes getting a ticket any easier. -
Why don't you lot get a life and just celebrate the fact we're still in existence. Tony's lot had the best intentions I am sure. I doubt Matty would have continued with his disappointment at not getting the chance with Pinnacle today on SSN if they hadn't had the best intentions. They tried, you halfwits, now raise a glass and look forward to the good times.

I want to be back home after hearing that.

Why did Mark Fry not try and sell SMS to the Council?
theyin replied to Topcat's topic in The Saints
SCC couldn't organise a p1ss up in a brewery. Everything they touch rots away. Why would you think they could do any better with SFC? -
Is it really so far fetched that RB could be interested? The company's wealth is comparable to the wealthiest of owners already out there, in fact smashes most of their bank balances and a lot more than Disney I suspect. At this moment in time, changing the name to whichever format they choose is preferable to SFC going out of business....fact. Think about it, why wouldn't RB be interested in building up a club to compete in the 'best' league in the world?

750K a month for that shower of ****?!?! If BA staff can take a month off from pay then surely the SFC squad - only them - can do the same

the original posters Xerox 80's inspired kits are great but IMHO could do with the addition of pencil thin clack lines on the verticles as was the case when the original was revised a couple of years into its life. That would be the icing on the cake for me -
ITV4 - Thursday - 1979 League Cup Final - Saints v Forest
theyin replied to jim_bergerac's topic in The Saints
I can't believe I was telling a Firest mate at work on Thursday about itv4 showing the big match from 30 years ago over a cuppa at lunch and all the time two foot away both our teams were on the box. That was a devastating day, 30 yrs ago I mean, hearing I've missed it again today is very pleasant as well -
COYR Saints v Pompey next season at this rate Haha Harry

Sundance Beast and SotonJoe You are utter co You are obviously of a young age and have no memories of just what LM brought to our city. It is because of his achievements that the level of expectancy surrounding the club exists. Ted Bates was a legend but LM did most to propel our club to the forefront of peoples minds when talking about 'plucky family clubs' (well, not a term you hear much nowadays), we we're also known for playing great attractive football. Much is made of 1976, but in 83/84 we actually stood at the top of Div1 for a fair stretch of the season. Not the few weeks that Ipswich, Hull etc have done in recent years, we were top dog! I remember LM giving the speech at my exes graduation ceremony at Soton Uni in 93. I was ready to get behind the man on a revolutionary march, his inspirational speech was that good. Che Guevara has nothing on LM when it comes to motivation. If that comes from having an ego then so be it. I'd have him around the club no matter what - he's there because he cares FFS I'm blabbing on now, sorry but this. Posts making a mockery of LM's achievements and reasons for continuing to be involved on this board really make my blood boil. You're so feckin foolish Jeez I'm jumping out of my seat here watching Channon and Ossie on the attack.

there are two full England international right backs at the Dell today, one of which is going to be twiddling his fingers sometime soon. Brown might not be interested but Neville could defo do a job for us. Darn, it's not the early 80's is it? Oh for the days when an old trooper with a quality history came to play out his days on the south coast.

I'm going to try and locate the 'greykitgate' press conference I attended at Old Trafford whilst on work experience for BBC GMR back in 96. That really was a laugh and an eye opener. Excuses flying everywhere, journos p1ssing themselves and Martin Edwards calling me a w^nker. Good times

Did anyone, not the committed of course, they'd be on their way to the game, see the feature on FF about TSG 1899 Hoffenheim yesterday? Very enlightening. How did we miss out on Brazilian's for £100,000? Isn't someone out there able to fund a winter trip to Southern Germany for a training match/friendly to transfer some winning mentality from their lads to ours? I've tried to see if JP or MW have any connections career wise with their coach Ralf Rangnick to no avail, but they're all around the same age so you never know. Can't someone suggest this within the club?

Oh for the 76-86 period to return. I would dearly love to see some games in the flesh the more I read of this exciting play that gets reported but sadly on the evidence I've seen, ie 2 skytv matches, nothing has urged me to bang 50 notes in the petrol tank for the return journey and 30 quid for a ticket. Sorry though, maybe it is fickle of me but Derby & Charlton are hardly the pull I need to part with that sort of cash. They weren't even when we were in the PREM. Believe me, I'm willing our lads on (whomever they are) every Saturday. The heart still sinks when I hear of a loss or draw. They are MY team though. Just like they are the team of EVERYONE in Southampton....or at least they should be. Whether you choose to attend week in week out or not should not preclude people from being fans/supporters etc just because those supposedly more passionate/loyal deem the rest to be some sort of pond life.

I was going to make every effort to get a ticket for this game. Plastic, fake, fairweather fan that I am but listening to the crap here about 'fickle' fans is crazy. Let me get right up their noses now. If you don't want the likes of me around you, and I certainly won't want the likes of you sneering at me as I take my place, then sod it, I'm having a word with my mate at Nike who sorts me out with tickets for games in London. It'll be a shame to sit with the corporate freebie types (not usually bothered with games up here as I'm not watching MY TEAM) but this fan snobbery is ridiculous. If the team is sh1te why should anyone continue with being continually let down. Fair play to the 'TRUE' supporters, if that's what they call themselves, but don't decry the rest of us who grew accustomed to 27 years in the top flight and all that that brought us and who are now, even after four years, still perplexed at the fixture list each season. The teams we play each week are those that would've been chomping at the bit to get a draw against us in the third round. It was their chance to be giant killers. Sadly we're amongst them now and I still can't get my head round it. Unfortunately (I hope I'm not sitting amongst a bunch of manu on the day) giant killing won't be the order of the day. 7-1 to the northern monkeys
