We need to win while the pitches we play on are somewhere near playable if last season is anything to go by. The 'Southampton Style' doesn't suit mud, though seeing as though the majority of our signings are lower league buys and therefore should have experience of these type of pitches, I never saw the reasoning behind the argument that our players were 'too good' for the conditions. also what is this about Southamtpon never starting well and so don't have it in them to make a decent start. Are we really saying that overpaid and lets face it, under educated, aloof, look at me, spoilt journeymen footballers have an ounce of sense or sensibility towards history? Just because we haven't had a decent start since ...Chris Nicholl????(someone put me right there), this lot have it in their heads that it's alright coz we're not supposed to win till game 8 .... give me a break. As you can tell, I don't hold footballers in the highest regard off the pitch

Eastleigh's DoF, Dave Malone in tonight's Echo
theyin replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
is it me or is the job of a free press to report what they see and hear? How is the Echo (whom I have plenty of beef with so don't start accusing me of being an insider) shytestirring when all they are doing is reporting? You all go on about this but what would you rather have? How about a Stalinist, Maoist press, only able to report the good things and then totally blown out of all proportion. You all moan as there's nothing ever in the Echo, well, as far as I can see they are doing their job in this case. If NC chooses to utilise their pages for exclusives on great things going on in the club I am sure the back pages would be splashed with good stories eminating from within the club - but no, everything is to come from the OS which isn't much at all. Have a thought for the Echo staff, they are working under extrememly limited resources to fill a newspaper on a daily basis. They can only report what they've got. -
It appears that Nick Illingsworth has been refused a season ticket

why don't you go switch of the worldwide web 'n' go do something less boring instead, sitting at home debating Illy's ban, turn it off it's no good to me, why don't you GO GO GO (Had an earworm all day long) -

It seems many on here keep abreast of developments at other clubs through their forums as well. I will bet my bottom dollar near on every single one of those forums has a thread sla gging off the board/chairman/CE about one thing or another ... communication and treatment of fans being up there near the top. The season can't start soon enough - hopefully then there'll be something interesting to talk about -

Just go to the games and be thankful you have a club to support. Like others I sincerely hope NC realised long ago that this forum is quite often full of sh1te and just got on and ran the club. I myself have bemoaned a few decisions here but rather that than figuring out which club to support -
he is now..... from http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2101350,00.html "Talk of players coming in over the last few days has increased, but Pardew says that the approach has not changed in terms of how Saints recruit new stars. "We don't say anything about players that we are interested in, and I don't want to comment on players that other people have mentioned because that is nothing to do with us. The only thing Southampton fans need to know is that when we come out with a message you can be sure it is a true message. "We've been watching the market, there's not been much movement and we are trying not to pitch in too early as a better player may come available and we miss him. It's about timing, the fans shouldn't get too concerned, I know they are waiting for us to pitch in, but hopefully we will do that in the next few weeks when a lot of managers will be doing the same thing."

I actually thought I'd time warped back to lat season. Glad I never went but I'm not worrying about a pre-season game no matter if AP put out his best 11

well it's in the Sun so it must be true

doesn't a requirement of a DoF need to be a contacts book throughout the game that can help attract players to the club? I fail to see how someone, however much a Saints legend, will have attained the contacts needed at our level when he's been operating at non league level for donkey's years

train throught the Alps is murderous. I thought I'd take the train from Basel to Vienna for the Euro Cup final a couple of years back (even though I was offered a flight). The romantic notion of winding through the mountains taking in the scenery was replaced by 13 hours of drudgery lollopping along through the mist and torrential rain. Never again

do any of our lads twitter?

22. Mengele 23. Shipman 24. H.Jones btw did anyone else have a momentary double take on viewing Paul Wotton bare chested on the day 4 pics? I thought Louis Spence had joined the squad

behave the lot of you, it's class. FFS it's one season only and offers a bit of kudos. You'll all be remembering it as 'that kit' that began the surge to the top in a few years time

And that they could have done through facebook. If they'd have thought about it in the first place then they would have used the filters or whatever they are to not allow comments and simply use it as a portal to the OS site. The 30 seconds x2 I waste each day logging on to the site to find nowt is adding up day by day - my time is precious don't you know. Properly set up (for their purposes), the fb page would have notified me via email that there was something new to look at. I was quick off the mark once it had been set up to decry the red blob (which looks a lot better on the shirt from the pictures I've seen - I still think SW members came up with better though), I suspect my comment and others on there weren't the kind of comments they wanted.

Saints recently launched the "officialsaints" page on facebook. It was only an outlet for new posts on the OS but it now seems to have been deleted (I might be wrong but I can't find it). Could the gripes and groans be too much for the club to weather in a public forum?

anyone heard anymore about Alepienapktofcrispspls coming to SMS?

the "Football is not just a matter of life and death: it's much more important than that" crowd are so easy to agitate. -

no not the Greek attacking RB. Still no news about Saints catering or in what form our half time libation will be. -
Really? What have you heard? Hey a bit of fun and dreaming never hurt anyone though I agree rumours are a pain when there's no foundation. THis was just a claim that HCDAJFU. No harm in that. Besides, as I say, stranger things have happened...http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/the-most-shocking-transfer-deals-in-history-1715310.html?action=Popup&ino=1 And let's face it, the south coast has got to be better than Leicestershire, he could become a hero here for eternity if he saw us into the PL, we've got the money so long as he doesn't go mad with his demands, AP has form buying players at the end of their careers - in a lot less better condition than Pires I hasten to ad, it's the kind of signing that will put Saints back on the back pages where we belong, he could put bums on seats. Nothing like dreaming eh? Come to think of it, an Arsenal double through the middle with Sol might be worth considering.

So tell me. Are we in their position?
