Tbh none of the strikers we're currently linked with fill me with much enthusiasm. I'd rather we gave Tall Paul a fair crack than any of them, and that we use our budget to get Ramsdale in. A player we know will improve us and is PL quality, in an absolute critical position
-
This basically. He had a short purple patch at the start of his Saints career, and has since done fcuk all. Much the same as Broja, who some are desperate to get back.
-
It wasn't explicitly stated that it was Ralph's decision I don't think, more the clubs. Also missed out on Guehi https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/3497835/2022/11/07/hasenhuttl-sacked-southampton-behind-scenes/

Not sure Lazio will be that interested anymore šš

So Ā£6m in wages, maybe another Ā£5m loan fee? Let's say having Ramsdale over McCarthy gets us an extra 5 points over the season, that could easily be the difference between safety and relegation. So seems a good investment to me. Risky, but worth the risk imo The bigger issue as others have pointed out is that he may well have better offers....
-
We already have a GK with England call ups TBF... Seems to me we should be going all out to get Ramsdale if we can.
-
I hope you're right but suspect that won't turn out to be the case. We are heading towards an even bigger gulf between the haves and the have nots in the county game.
-
Moukoko signing for Marseille, as per Romano on twitter. No surprise there
-
Established team with a big name manager means we have no chance in a straight fight. Unless WHU are signing him as a squad player, which seems unlikely, or we blow them out of the water on wages, which seems even more unlikely...

Our very own Posh & Becks šš

I agree completely that's the only way we'd have a chance, but it'd be a huge gamble. There are recent examples of youngsters who have been massively hyped signing for lower end PL clubs - Moise Kean for Everton was a disaster and Gnonto for Leeds. Gnonto has been ok for Leeds TBF. Guess it's no different to any striker we sign, they're all going to be a gamble
-
The more I hear about Moukoko the less enthused I am. He's considered one of the hottest young strikers in Europe, but if no one better than the teams touted are interested there must be either a serious issue with his development to the men's game or serious attitude/behavioural issues. If they only want cā¬20m as well that makes me even more uneasy

Shea to Celtic is an interesting one. A year in the SPL would probably do him some good, so I'd hope it'd be without an option to buy. Or a high option/buy back clause if that is what happens. Also saw somewhere that O'Reilly hasn't agreed terms with Atalanta, whereas he has with us. So there's a decent chance he may sign for us I think
-
Moukoko would be our most exciting signing in god knows how long! I'd be very surprised if someone bigger doesn't come in but maybe a loan and an offer of first team football would give us a chance
-
Why? If we're only aiming for players that would consider us the team they'd most like to sign for in the world we'd be limited to signing people from Saintsweb.... He's agreed terms so is clearly happy to sign for us. Can't blame him for preferring an Italian club in the CL
-
In two minds about this one. If Ā£5/6m helps us get a player in Martin really wants them fine, but otherwise would rather have him as an option for if we are chasing a game or need someone to hold the ball up. His goalscoring record is decent, albeit he's still untested in the PL
-
Not a great look for the "pathway".... Still if either Salzburg or Ajax are interested in him that's a much easier transition into top flight football than in the PL, with the bonus of Champions League
-
Good luck Che! Always gave his all and had some great performances in his time here. Basically his biggest problem is he's been our main striker when really he was only good enough to be our supporting one... That ain't his fault though, and he doesn't deserve anything like the sh*t he's gotten on here over the years
-
Surprising to see him there. Shame he seemingly didn't want to stay with us but good luck to him. Assuming we did try to keep him?
-
What happened to Ghoddos? It was supposed to be a done deal I thought before the window opened?
-
Have we actually been linked with Reed? If he was available I'd have him back. With our weak defence a strong defensive midfield partnership in front of them would help massively, ala Schneiderlain/Wanyama back in the good old days
-
It's worse for us that he's gone abroad. Means we're entitled to less compensation I believe
-
Have you ever seen a referee stick to his original decision after being asked to review on the pitch side monitor? I certainly never have
-
I think anyone claiming it's a penalty needs to think how they would feel if it was given against England. In regular play it would seem very soft but the fact VAR overturned it was nuts... Still, very glad it was given! As others have said, a little payback for Koeman in 93. Shame Taylor wasn't here to tell us that he did like that!

Has anyone here been to the st Mary's screenings of the games? Thinking I might take the family on Sunday if it's any good
