I see the 50 over competition will finish with a T20 match! Great work ECB 😂
-
Should we consider Abbas to open? He's sticking around a lot longer than the top order ATM 😂
-
Re the crowd I do think they'd be better served playing at a stadium that meets the fan base that'll show up. I'm sure it's great in some respects playing in a large stadium and (probably) better surfaces, but having a full stadium watching you must be more exciting than having 95% of the seats empty
-
He missed a lot yes, but was still available for selection for over half the season. He got less than 3 full games of minutes in the first team, and didn't complete 90mins in any game. Certainly not what we would have hoped when we loaned him out
-
Sheesh mate... Nowhere did I say he had been. He was, however, loaned to a Dutch team and not played. I think most people would have been able to infer that's what I was getting at
-
Ajax would be great! Although there's a risk he won't get much playing time there like ABK last year

Official: Ryan Fraser returns to Saints on two-year deal
Barsiem replied to Saint_Ash's topic in The Saints
Loving the enthusiasm for being here from Fraser! Welcome back! -
72 run last wicket stand, Abbas scored one of them take a bow Dawson, and well done Abbas for surviving 32 balls
-
A door closes and a window opens?? Albeit it's 'off' due to the cost, so suspect Wolves will be back in come deadline day
-
Why did Vince bat so far down the order? Great to see Prest get some serious runs. I thought the 50 over tournament was a big missed opportunity for him this year but hopefully he'll kick on from here
-
People also seem to forget we lost our first four fixtures last time we were promoted to the PL. Our first home game was against Wigan(!), and we lost 2-0. There's a time to panic, but it ain't yet.
-
So far same old saints this season. Look good against the better teams (for little reward) and crap against the teams around us... Early days, but we can't afford to play like this in a game we should be looking to win
-
We bought Elyounoussi from Basel, not the SPL. We've actually done very well out of most of our SPL signings. Although I agree with the overall point that £30m seems too much for MoR
-
I'm actually a little stunned some people would prefer Bijlow over Ramsdale... Nothing to do with who is better for our system but the simple fact that Bijlow has been very injury prone and we can't afford to be missing him for half the season! You'd think we'd learnt from Stewart. Don't get me wrong I'd take Bijlow over AM & GB but if we have the option of Ramsdale for only a few £m more for the year we should do it
-
Ramsdale will cost us £10m for the year when you take into account fee and wages, but he's an established PL keeper and as you say not injury prone, so definitely the better option imo
-
I get the frustration but if Martin doesn't want him then there's no point keeping him. Not sure what other younger players we've ditched though? Moreso young players ditching us! There's Mara & potentially Sulemana I suppose...
-
I cant wait for the slating of the club on here if Bijlow misses half the season due to injury like he has the last couple of years.... Fingers crossed he's over it now
-
Palace are in London, so much closer to his current club, and are now a more established PL team, with a manager who did brilliantly for them last season. Unlikely Ramsdale chooses us over them
-
If we play like that every game we'll stay up. Newcastle defended brilliantly, and obvs we could have used a bit more quality up front. But every player played well (McCarthy fcuk up apart). Good to see SAA be aggressive and positive when he came on. Would have liked to see the same from Dibling tbh. Suga looked great as well, and disappointing he went off (hopefully a precaution). Disappointing, but at the same time encouraging, result P.s why the fcuk is Bruno always amazing against us?? What did we ever do to him?
-
Whilst I hope you're right it's not a fair comparison. Mara has never been first choice for Saints, and according to the below website he actually was one of the best performing strikers in the championship based on minutes played last season, with 8 goal involvements in 616 minutes on the pitch. https://footystats.org/players/france/sekou-mara Again, not saying you're wrong, but judging number of goals scored by a first team starter against a bench warmer for number of goals scored is not particularly accurate imo.
-
Archer would be underwhelming, but guess we'll see what happens if he does join. Maybe we'd negotiate the same kind of deal Sheff utd had, whereby Villa buy him back if we go down this season. Hopefully not a loan at least, as it'd mean we couldn't get Ramsdale
-
I'd love for us to have 2 solid DMs who can protect the defence. Seems a good option IMO
-
Who was the last signing that genuinely got you excited?
Barsiem replied to Midfield_General's topic in The Saints
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/alletransfers/verein/180 Transfer history for anyone with a terrible memory (like me!) I think I'd go Osvaldo - seemed a real coup at the time 😅 We did have several in a few years - Mane, Tadic, Vvd, Alderwiereld. I was excited for Forren as well, which I guess proves I shouldn't get exicted
