I'd be surprised if we announce this now. Sellers is already effectively in post and we may as well see how he does over a few games before making a decision
-
When he posted here he was roundly abused, and still is even when not posting for some reason, and also couldn't seem to stop himself getting into the same tired arguments with the same tired posters. Can't really blame him for not bothering anymore
-
For anyone interested James Vince will be captaining the Gulf Giants in the international league T20 competition on Sunday. Another new tournament in the shorter form of the game... It'll be on BT sport, I think at 2pm
-
If Rafa wants it he feels like the only candidate for me. We need pedigree and we need it fast ! Not sure he'd be interested anyway tbf
-
Sounds like this place tbf (minus the dugouts bit)

I've gone for a 6. Not sure it'll keep us up but has given us a chance, and we should have a strong squad for the championship. I'm a little concerned at how much we've spent but we do have quality in Latvia ABK & JWP to sell if we do go down. A lot will depend on how well Onuacho does - that's not a signing we can afford to get wrong!
-
My favourite time of the window! That feeling of optimism that we all have about new signings that we are invariably completely wrong about (see the rate the summer 2022 transfer thread...). Are you brave enough to put a number on how Saints have done? Please be forewarned that your answer will likely be ridiculed in a couple of months time, so vote at your own risk Summary of Ins/Outs - taken from Sky Sports. We also got Jan Bednarek back from his loan In Mislav Orsic - Dinamo Zagreb, £8m Carlos Alcaraz - Racing Club, £12m James Bree - Luton Town, undisclosed Kamaldeen Sulemana - Rennes, £22m Paul Onuachu - Genk, £18m Out Dynel Simeu - Morecambe, loan Nico Lawrence - Torquay, loan Dan Nlundulu - Bolton, loan Ryan Finnigan - Crewe, loan Kazeem Olaigbe - Harrogate, loan Lewis Payne - Eastleigh, loan Thierry Small - St Mirren, loan

Agreed. Only way I can see him signing unfortunately
-
I missed this. What did semmens do?

What is with the hate for Che on here ATM?? Prolific he ain't but he's still our best striker, yet he seems he's being made a scapegoat for the shit we're in. It wasn't that long ago he was dominating Bompey when we won there (and it's fair to assume we wouldn't have won without him there), and he has 8 goals this season
-
So do you never anticipate how a signing might do? Or whether we may win a game or not? Or where we may finish in the league at the start of a season? That's all the rate the transfer thread is. An anticipation on how saints will do based on the signings we made (or didn't make). Yes we can all be completely wrong (although I still think we strengthened in the summer transfer and therefore has a decent window, hanging onto Ralph was the real issue) but the anticipation of where the club is going is pretty much the only joy we get as fans at the moment.

Chris Sutton has predicted we'll win 4-0!! Not sure he has seen us play much this season... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64366338

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Good save I thought... Tried to push it away from danger When did we last score from a corner? We have a set piece specialist but seem useless at them... -
Jimmy Jay Morgan not to sign a pro contract at club!
Barsiem replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
I would think relegation wouldn't necessarily be considered a downer for a youth player on the fringes of the first team squad. He's more likely to get regular minutes in a lower division side than trying to break into a premier League team -
I reckon we've got the record for most dodgy VAR decisions against us when playing Villa at home! Every cloud and all that
-
Ings now confirmed by West Ham.. £12m rising to £15m if WH stay up. Seems good business to me but apparently he wasn't high on our list of targets so hopefully we have a rabbit in our hat somewhere
-
Tbf the only strikers from the championship who have hit the ground running in the prem are those that were promoted with their clubs. Lambert, Vardy & Toney are the ones that spring to mind in recent years. You're lucky to get 8 goals a season out of them - which is what we tend to get from Che anyway
-
Not sure what Pickford was doing? It wasn't one of JWPs better freekicks but fcuk it who cares!!
-
Anyone know how Lemina has been for Nice? We all know there's a proper player there when he can be bothered. Looking on wiki he's played 36 times for Nice, which suggests he's spent time out of the team, albeit whether that injury or otherwise I don't know. I did laugh at his wiki page, which describes him as a dynamic, hard-working midfielder! Must have been written by his mum!!

Rate Saints business in the Summer 2022 Transfer Window
Barsiem replied to Barsiem's topic in The Saints
Tbf it wasn’t just the fans who thought we had a great window. Pundits did too. I still think we had a very good window. Lavia and ABK have been undoubted successes. Edioze has been good, DCC & Aribo ok, Bazanu unfortunately is going downhill fast ala Gunn. The problem is the team tactically is sh*te. First under Ralph and now Jones is continuing in the same vein -
I do think the reactions on here at OTT given Jones has only had 3 games in charge, and one of those was after 2 days and was Pool away, but this is undoubtedly a very concerning start. Let's hope Jones is finding his feet in the PL ala Mane and things quickly pickup

What I find interesting about Sheldon is that he supposedly covers the Manc clubs now, yet he still is involved in loads of Saints pieces. Indicates to me that he is the one with all of the contacts at the club and his replacement Tanswell doesn’t appear to be able to establish these himself.
-
He was sh*te here because we didn’t use him properly… same with Djenpo. We get flair players who can be magic on the ball and train them out of it by stopping them roaming and prioritising them helping the team defend rather than attack…. We shouldn’t buy these kinds of players unless we will actually try to play to their strengths. Anyway, he was also professional if unspectacular here so best of luck to him. Glad he was so successful at the WC
-
Good point! He is still available for selection but it looks like he was dropped earlier in the year due to a poor attitude in training. According to the below article he hasn’t been as effective in the last couple of years for them, but given he averages 23 at test level and Pakistan are missing Afridi it seems strange to leave him out. Might be good news for Hants though https://wisden.com/series-stories/pakistan-v-england-2022-23/why-have-pakistan-not-included-mohammad-abbas-for-their-test-series-against-england
