Perhaps it's best to rephrase the question as I did to pfc123 (I've added stadium): Suppose someone were to give you the offer for P*mp*y and Saints to switch positions 3 years from now (owner, league position, facilities and debts). (Your decision of course must be made now, not 3 years from now.) Would you take the offer? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/sho...&postcount=260

Saints' owner is worth more than 50 times than "Dr" Al Fialka, who's their main hope for survival. But one of our resident skates still wouldn't swap (or so he claims)! http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=395219&postcount=260

Don't know about Luton, but certainly Leeds got everything they deserved. And hopefully P*mp*y, after they go into administration, will get deducted 500 points (carried over to the next seasons) for foul and disgusting irregularities involving gun-running money.

Great article in The Times about the fish fiddlers

This comment at the bottom made me laugh: What Pompey really need is a mass-brawl between all the 12 players they have left (lumps of wood optional). The club could then fine them all 2, 3 or even 30 weeks wages and help the cashflow. Come on lads, don't be soft, have a fight! -
Relegation almost destroyed Saints. Would you still think relegation were a great thing, if ML hadn't bought SFC and our club had gone out of existence? Come on, be honest. Having relegation 30 years ago was a healthy thing: it hurt, but wasn't a disaster. Nowadays, it could be the kiss of death to a club.

Here's a quick way to close the gap. We need a striker, and they need money. I reckon if Pardew were to offer just a few quid for DN ....
-
Even if this were true (which I very much doubt), it doesn't make sense. ML is worth over 2 billion, is in his sixties, and could make more money from finding loose coins behind his sofas than from Saints. The only logical reason for owning Saints is not to make money, but to get the satisfaction of making his club a success.
-
Come on, be fair Smirking_Saint, they do have a much bigger debt than ours. :smt044:smt043:smt042:smt082

And I want Catherine Zeta-Jones.

ML bought SFC to either A) Make money from it; or B) Not worry about making money, but to enjoy building it up to become a success (presumably at the Premier league level). Let's see: It's almost impossible to make any serious money from a football club. And ML is, what, about 65. He's worth 2.5 billion, give or take. Hmm, I'll guess it's B) then.

OK, here's a simple question; suppose someone were to give you the offer for P*mp*y and Saints to switch positions 3 years from now (owner, league position, and debts). (Your decision of course must be made now, not 3 years from now.) Would you take the offer?

Last year, yes. But now, no debts and a billionaire owner. If (big if) Rasiak does the business, wages shouldn't be an issue.

We keep hearing about the Charlton "debacle", "blip", "disaster", etc. But 1.24 points per game, while not earth-shattering, isn't that bad. Nowhere near the Wigley, Gray, Poortvliet, and Wotte level of incompetence!
-
But he averaged about 1.24 points per game, not that bad.

I wouldn't say no to Guus Hiddink.

Well that certainly ticks not one, but two, boxes! You mean, just like Ipswich under Burley were in their first season in the Prem?

Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?
Dark Munster replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Pearson P 13 W 3 D 7 L 3 = 16 points from 13 games = 1.23 points per game = 56-57 points per season (safe) Wotte P 18 W 4 D 7 L 7 = 19 points from 18 games = 1.06 points per game = 48-49 points per season (relegation) The rest of your post falls to pieces after these facts. If we were in the Premiership I'd agree, but we're in L1 on -10 points. -
Err, because the previous Chairman who sacked him for purely egotistic purposes, has himself been sacked and replaced by a billionaire owner? Sorry, that's rubbish: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/untoldstories/4350665.What_Saints_managers_were_paid/

Only 3 defeats out of 13: yes, pretty awesome considering the shîte he inherited. We finished on 54 points, which in any normal year (e.g. this year) would be lower mid-table and 7-8 points above relegation. YES YES YES YES YES, his record with us was impressive (see above) and I cannot understand why people rate him so lowly. Spot on. Indeed: see http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/untoldstories/4350665.What_Saints_managers_were_paid/ Great post Darren W. -
What other way was there? Fired more slowly? Gardening leave? ML only took over yesterday, so all they can say is "Sorry, we're letting you go, to look for a better manager. Thanks for holding the fort, here's one year's pay. Goodbye, and good luck in Egypt."
-
I agree WGS did that, but arguably the players became fit, strong, committed and determined under Pearson as well. Anyway, no thank you to Hoddle. Even if we ignore the fact that he's a complete wånker, he's incompetent in the transfer market, and has terrible man-management skills.
-
Good riddance. Crap manager. I think the ones here who are saying what a shame, he should've been given more time, etc., etc., are the ones who said the same thing about Gray and Wigley.
-
Latest rumour I heard is that Saints are to be taken over someone called Markus Leibherr. A Swiss/German billionaire apparently. Probably a load of böllocks, but I thought I'd pass it on.

As long as it's not a "revolutionary management set-up".
