  1. Have to say I agree fully. As supporters (mushrooms) our job is to support, come what may. OP, I think yours is wishful thinking re NC giving us details.
  2. http://www.samaritans.org/talk_to_someone/find_my_local_branch.aspx Bridgey, don't talk so soft! How long have you supported Saints? Last month saw me in my 54th year as a Saints supporter and things have never changed! Up/down/up/down. It's like being on a life long roller coaster and been great fun! I'm going sat' with my grandson, if you want to join us, we will be the ones singing, OWTS, in the Chapel, block 20 row M. See you there?
  3. Thinking of those two made me smile with sweet memories! Back to 2010, I think NA can turn things around. I'm looking forward to Saturday as the start to our season.
  4. Art, count young H and I in the, 'We like this' club! Only disapointment was that I thought we might see you singing it.
  5. So sorry to read of your sad loss. Sincere condolences Daren. Norm
  6. That's done it now! I'm looking under my seat from now on.
  7. Thank you so much for this thread! It gave me a good giggle.
  8. But I didn't say it! I only quoted the official quote from the CLUB. Have another look at the quote. It reads, "the majority of which came from well respected managers currently working in the top two divisions of English football and abroad." Those are The Premier and The Championship. Are those two not the TOP TWO divisions? OK, I give in. I've had too much excitement today.
  9. It must be me! I thought (wrongly ?) that the top two divisions of the English league were The Premier and the Championship. Forget the number of applicants (Mind you, we were told we had 50!)
  10. "the majority of which came from well respected managers currently working in the top two divisions of English football and abroad." I read at statement as managers from the Prem and Championship.
  11. I've highlighted this bit because this bit baffles me most about this farce. I'm really stumped that we ended up with the best manager out of all the applicants in this group. Just my opinion. Whilst I wish NA well, I just hope this point made by FF doesn't ruin his chances. From FF's post, 'I like the sound of him, he is obviously intelligent, I like it that his teams play football and as long as he is allowed to manage without undue interferance then maybe we can once and for all put this ridiculous managerial merry-go-round to bed'.
  12. I think your frustration at the lack of progress is clouding your judgment. Let's just wait a few more days and see what happens.
  13. All this is well and good but what if the shoe was on the other foot? ie Replace Wharton with Saints chairman. Saints want something that Scunny have but want to get it for less than the advertised (perhaps the figure written into his contract?) price. All guess work. If the stumbling block is Adkins principles, I can't help but admire his principles. Still, I am rather old fashioned with my views.

    Charlie Austin

What a sad post from a bitter person. When you grow up and mature, you will not wish anyone to suffer the type of injuries that you wished on Charlie Austin, a decent player.
  15. Chris, you are 100% correct BUT nobody knows how the process went! Nobody knows (apart from NC and Howe) if Howe was offered the post! Nobody knows (apart from NC and Adkins and Scunny chairman) what happened/was said re compensation! For the life of me, I really can't see NC handling all this as badly as reported. He might have but nobody knows! It is all ifs and buts at the moment.
  16. 'There is a Ryanair flight from Bournemouth to Pisa on Wed'. Fare £19.99 plus extra for suitcase. **** it, I will just pack my boots!'
  17. No disrespect to NC but I couldn't care less where he was. I'm more interested what he was doing today.
  18. Sadly, I know (from speaking to one of the above) this to be the case.
  19. Of course that was the scenario! It couldn't have been that Adkins had been approached first and Howe knew he was second choice. It couldn't have been that he listened to NC and didn't like what he heard. It couldn't have been that he didn't fancy working with a DOF. None of the above happened. So your scenario must be correct. I think too many posters on here have a very one sided opinion of Southampton FC. Of course I want us to appoint a successful manager but we just have to sit back and wait for NC to do his job. But to lay blame on everyone else and none at our door is daft. We are in the THIRD div ffs. We are not Man U/City. I find many comments about other chairmen and managers disrespectful. ' There's none so blind as those who will not see
  20. Would you go through that again, perhaps a little slower?
  21. Fair comment, in my eyes. The BBC report that Howe WAS offered the job at the interview held this morning. They quote the B'mouth chairman. Perhaps Howe turned us down after hearing what NC had to say and just felt he a, was better staying where he was or b, he did not like what he heard. Who knows. What on earth is going on? Roll on Saturday and we get back to sanity and a game of football.
  22. IF, that's the big word again. Prof, I think your post is a fair assessment of the situation. None of us (most certainly not me) have any idea what is true and what is fairy stories leaked by who ever.
  23. Think we discussed this on another thread about 45 minutes ago. Lock?
  24. . but as yet you know fook all. That is correct. I have not implied that I do know anything. Suggest you read my post again, I did write (you may have difficulty understanding it) None of us know what is going on and can't be bothered to wait and see. I'm more than happy to wait. Not a single thing I can do to hurry NC along. At no time have I said I was impatient. Must be thinking of someone else with a different point of view to yours.
  25. Seb, many thanks for your PM but I'm really past doing a threesome. So thanks but no thanks.
