Swindon 1 v Saints 0 Post-Match Reaction

See, I naively thought the points deduction would get the players a bit passionate and playing with a bit of desire. While I couldn't see us doing a Leeds exactly, I could see a good start and the deduction cleared by the start of September. I dared to hope and that's dangerous when you're a Saints fan. It just leads to greater disappointment when your hopes aren't reciprocated on the pitch. -

No need to throw millions at the team. A sign that we are forming into a cohesive unit capable of holding our own would suffice for me. But it's not happening. -

We need at least 5 loanees. Maybe more. Who was it said we'd have clawed 9 of those points back by now? -
Sorry to add to already troubled waters but, with the expected firesale of any player worth a bit, can the FL impose a transfer embargo on the club as well? Seem to remember this happening at Luton and Bournemouth, both of whom were banned from signing anyone for any fee or on a Bosman whilst the transfer window was open. Anyone know better?

MLT and Pinnacle withdraw

There is a backer out there who would buy the club. It's just that no-one knows what they'd do with it after.... -
They'll win convincingly 3-0. The pressure's off to a large extent, except for the 10 point penalty next season, but then the majority of the players won't care about that, 'cos they know they won't be here. I fully expect us to win the last two btw. But I also expect Barnsley and Forest to win on Saturday, so it won't take us out the bottom 3.
-
You chose wrong, Mike. Big time. We'll suffer the consequences though. After all, we're just the mug punters to you, aren't we?

Reasons why you have not bought a ticket for Saturday

I'm off to Forest next week. It's my gf's birthday on Sunday so I promised her a day out in London, show, shopping, that sort of stuff..... I'm kind of relieved, in a way.... -
Reports in Ipswich suggest Magilton will take some time out before his next club. Gorman will go back to Hoddle's coaching school in Spain. I think we can discount JM frankly. I'd prefer Tisdale; he'd be proud to do the job and he's got a fairly decent track record. The other one I like is Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. He's done a good job keeping them up.

League deduct 10 Points - Will apply in L1 Next Season

******** I'm shocked, stunned, ****ed off.. If you thought Lg 1 was going to be easier, think again. We'll still be a lot of teams' cup final....and on -10. We won't do a Leeds 'cos they had a passionate group of players who kept winning to overcome the penalty. Can anyone honestly see this lot doing that? -
He was NEVER going quietly. This is all an ego-trip, made freely available because he's newsworthy at the minute. He sees it as a chance to excuse his part in the current meltdown by offering himself up as a non-apologist for all the severe financial mismanagement we've endured. Whoever buys the club will be haunted by RL and his media sniping, at least for the first month or so.
-
Just noticed that, in the picture of the banner at the top, the newspaper cutting underneath says "we scored some crack". Hope that isn't an interview with one of the players or something....
-
Can't see the point in worrying. Can things get any worse than they are right now? OK so if we DO go down, administration and the 10 point penalty, probably next season so we start League 1 in deficit. Like Leeds did? Blow me, they really suffered from it, didn't they? For me, it might even bring the togetherness we've lacked in recent years. Just a thought.
-
It's not happening. Not yet anyway. Don't believe the hype. We'll stumble on to the end of the season, 'cos that's clearly the game plan. We REALLY do not need the extra hassle anyway, not at the moment. The players have got enough to think about keeping us in this division without the extra worry of where their next obscene pay check is coming from (Deloitte and Touche IMHO). I'm convinced we'll still get out of this yet, you know....
-
For me it's: Kevin Phillips John Bailey Ian Branfoot Allan Knight - met him once in Petersfield - t**t Harry FatChopp Tony Cottee 'cos he always seemed to score against us
-
Well. My girlfriend's coming Saturday. She's never seen us lose at SMS. And she's wearing her lucky scarf. She thinks 1-0. Goalscorer DMG cos she feels sorry for him
-
To me MLT is God incarnate. But he'll always be the type to do publicity/corporate stuff rather than be a coach.
-
My friends have certainly spoken highly of him in the past. Think everyone at Ipswich was hoping the money that Marcus Evans put in would be enough to take them up but it hasn't worked like that. Had a text from one of them yesterday to say there'd be protesting at portman Road on Saturday. Think the fans have had enough of Magilton. I'd prefer more experience if we get someone new. But then they'll be cheap if Lowe has anything to do with it. And probably dutch.
-
I also have friends who are Ipswich ST holders and they keep moaning about Jim Magilton. Apparently their local paper yesterday printed an article saying how bad Magilton was and how he should be sacked!! I reckon we might get one of our wins needed there you know.

Dyer: I'll just put this purse and phone back in this barmaid's handbag... Skacel: Bugger the Bundesliga! I'm here to stay... Askham, Wilde, Richards et al: No, Rupert! Burley: No scotch for me, Jason. A lemon barley water'll do... DMG: I'm only good enough to be an occasional sub.. Wotte: David's only good enough to be an occasional sub... Itchen: We love you Rupert, we do Mr Allen: I'd love to resurrect another takeover -

"Is it possible that we have a better understanding of what is required to run a major football club in the modern era?" Not unless the other club in comparison is Leeds United..... -
You make your own luck surely? Had we got a striker at the club capapble of putting those chances between the sticks rather than against them/wide of them, we'd be sat here smugly looking forward to Preston and three points nearer safety. That's not a luck thing, that's just incompetence....
-
Marsden or MLT. Either would do a better job than their modern-day equivalents and I doubt we'd be fretting about Preston next Saturday if we still had both.... Can I have both btw?
-
Might not have been KFC then but it was definitely fried chicken ordered (and delivered) from somewhere. Doesn't alter my point in the slightest. It was BWP's favourite 'cos he told my little neighbour he loved it.....:smt019
