  1. 10 out of 10 from me on the culinary front. Excellent craft beers from the local supermarket at knock down prices, superb fresh Porcini mushrooms from the street market on the way to San Siro (one has gone into a risotto with Riso Carnaroli from the same supermarket, the other destined for a pasta dish) and tempted by the Lampascioni - a kind of edible hyacinth bulb which I almost bought but didn't. It's the things you don't do that you regret in life! Also picked up some Himalayan pink salt, exotic nougat and fancy chocs for early Christmas presents and a few local cheeses.
  2. Group matches will be of 90 minutes duration, with no extra time. If the scores are level at the end of the group match then each club is awarded one point. In addition, the match will be followed immediately by penalties and the club that wins the shootout will be awarded an additional point.
  3. I wouldn't use Purple Bricks. I viewed a house being marked by them in March. The house was vacant. I said that I liked it but was only willing to proceed if the seller could exchange and complete quickly due to ehupcoming change in SDLT rates for buy to lets. They said that they would speak to the Seller and get back to me. They didn't.
  4. Ask West Ham about fielding weakened teams
  5. Sounds reasonable to me, and a distinct improvement on previous seasons.
  6. Slef employed, with flexibility over hours.
  7. The Brentford score is final and Right to Dream drew 0-0 with Co Armagh. That leaves Saints comfortably through to the semi final tomorrow and currently top of the table. The only team which can catch them is Rangers, who would need to beat AS Roma-USA in their 6pm match by more than 4 goals to overtake Saints. Well done lads!
  8. Well, the late filing fee for the accounts won't bankrupt them, but it's fairly amaeturish not to get your accounts in on time, unless there's some reason for holding them back. Sometimes companies deliberately delay filing their accounts if they contain information which might hurt the company if it got into the public domain, though I doubt that is the case here. Another reason for delays in filing acounts is if the auditors and the board can't agree on something eg what provision to make for contingent liabilities. As for the 3 mortgages, either they have been satisfied/discharged and no-one has got around to filing the necessary forms at Companies House or they are still in force because there are still liabilties which they secure. As the premier league parachute payments were paid out some time ago, the charge over them should have been spent as there is nothign left for it to bite on. My guess is that PCFC simply haven't got around to filing the necessary forms - they don't need the mortgagor's co-operation to do that. In summary, probably just sloppiness on PCFC's part - not the sort of thing you would expect from a properly run company, but then ...
  9. The filing deadline at Companies House for PCFC's 2015 accounts expired yesterday. Their Companies House website entry shows the accounts as Overdue, which will result in a late filing penalty. The 3 outstanding mortgages are all dated 19 April 2013, are all in favour of the PFA and mortgage: (i) Fratton Park; (ii) PCFC’s interest in the Football League ‘Pool Account’ – the main element of which is broadcasting revenue. (iii) PCFC’s interest in the Premier League Parachute Payments for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons. The mortgages secure: (a) In the case of the Fratton Park mortgage, PCFC’s liabilities under an ‘Arrears Deed’ entered into with the PFA. The ‘Arrears Deed’ is not, and does not require to be, filed at Companies House. It covers a loan from the PFA to PCFC, but whether that loan was to cover player arrears, other Football Creditors or other liabilities is unclear. I’ve no idea what the term of that loan was or the interest rate charged. The mortgage contains the usual covenant to keep the mortgaged property in good repair (b) In the case of the Football League ‘Pool Account’ mortgage, the amounts due from PCFC under separate ‘Arrears Deeds’ with the players. © In the case of the Premier League Parachute Payments mortgage, the amounts due from PCFC under separate ‘Arrears Deeds’ with the players and a ‘Trust Deed’.
  10. If you think he hates us, have a look at what West Ham's supporters think about him on KUMB - http://kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99108&sid=56b61a529e63e31754c9e2b07f87c0ee. Their thread runs to over a hundred pages, so far.
  11. Paddy Power have us at 8/1 for a top 4 finish, 7/4 for a top 6 finish and 12/1 for a League Cup win. To me those are surprisingly short odds for Top 4 and Top 6 and surprisingly long odds for the League Cup. Anyway, back to the original question, I'd take the cup game win - that would leave us only 3 wins away from silverware. At least I am confident that we will give it a go this year. Last year's limp effort against Sunderland still rankles.
  12. John Arne Riise for Saints against Liverpool in 2002 was a cracker.
  13. Djemaa El-Fna (the main square) is a must. Get there an hour or so before sunset and enjoy the story tellers, snake charmers, food stalls with roasted sheep's heads etc before going up to one of the bars overlooking the square for a drink while the sun sets. Taxis are good value but be prepared to haggle. We enjoyed a tour round one of the tanneries. Try to avoid the touts. They are persistent.

  15. I've been twice recently, both times in December. On each visit I've come away with a longer list of things to do and see next time. It's a great City: cosmopolitan, clean (mostly), friendly and safe. I reccommend: Museum of Modern Art - admission free on Friday afternoon/evening Grand Central Station Oyster Bar - fantastic seafood Highline Manhattan walk (free) Staten Island Ferry (free) - great views of the Statute of Liberty and Manhatten skyline. Best time to go is late afternoon, returning at twilight. Central Park Radio City Christmas Spectacular Rockerfeller Centre - Christmas Tree, skating rink and restaurant at the top for excellent food and views across to Empire State Building (you may recognise it from Sleepless in Seattle) Waldorf Astoria - no charge to walk through it, but worth stopping for a cocktail. ... and so much else December is a wonderful time to visit New York We've satyed at the Roger Smith hotel - no restaurant, but clean, reasonably priced and centrally located and the New York Athletic Club - great lcoation and facilties, but a bit pricier.
  16. The Judge isn't being asked to value FP and couldn't even if he wanted to. It's not his job. The present application is, presumably, an application by Administrators' for court approval to the proposed sale of FP and other assets within the Portpin charge to the currently proposed buyer (some combination, probably of PST REL and 'HNW' investors) on the currently proposed terms. The Administrators want court approval as, if given, that will prevent the Adiministators being sued by Portpin for selling their charged assets at less than market price. The reason the Administrators' barrister could not proceed with that application yesterday is that some problem appeared with REL's participation in the proposed deal. That will have prevented the Adminsiartors putting forward their case on the basis of the evdience previously filed with the court. At best, for the Administrators, they may be able to mend their fences with REL or replace them with another investor(s). At worst, it may scupper the proposed sale completely, in which case this court application will fall away. If the Administrators are able to repair their case and continue with the proceedings, the Judge will either grant the Administrators approval to sell the assets on the terms proposed or he will decline to grant that approval or he will adjourn to a later date. He is not going to come up with his own valuation. Interesting times!
  17. Renewed my ST this afternoon. I was impressed by the new online ticket ordering facility, which went very smoothly. Much better 'look and feel' than the old one.
  18. ... and I'm also from, well the User Name gives it away.
  19. Humour on POL is not dead - one of their posters asked if his medical would include carbon dating
  20. The Administrators proposals are available at http://www.pkf.co.uk/web/pkf.nsf/82D34E3438E9E594802579DC0052E1E9/$file/pkfjaproposals.pdf An extract from the Conclusions section follows: 10 Conclusions 10.1 The Company is insolvent with an estimated shortfall to members of c£59m on a going concern basis and £73m on a break-up basis. 10.2 We are carrying out our work in the pursuit of statutory objective a) - rescuing the Company as a going concern. 10.3 Should we conclude that statutory objective a) cannot be achieved then we will seek to achieve statutory objective b) - achieving a better result for the companyís creditors as a whole than would be likely if the company were wound up (without first being in administration). In the event that objectives a) and b) cannot be achieved we would seek to achieve objective c) - to realise property in order to make a distribution to one or more secured or preferential creditors. In short, unless a White Knight with a deep pocket turns up, liquidation beckons.
  21. For all the Saints (who from their labours rest) - chosen for my wedding and my father's funeral Dear Lord And Father Of Mankind Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer
  22. CSI won't have given Chanrai a debenture for nothing. My guess is that he has put in some more finance, possibly in order to provide Pompey with sufficient funds to meet the November/December wage bills. To the extent that he is taking security for new cash pumped in, there's nothing legally wrong with that in priciple. Time will tell.
  23. Answers: a) (i) The occupier is liable to the Council. (ii) As between the occupier and the landlord, the landlord is responsible. b) The occupier should ask the landlord to reimburse the expenditure, which he is legally bound to do. If he doesn't reimburse, other options will need to be looked at. c)
