The role of Dave Jones (not the Cardiff one) in all this mess
benjii replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Evidently. I think we need to remember that football clubs make losses, generally. They operate in an industry which is structurally skewed to enable the rich to get richer and to prevent competition and fair play. For most of the time Dave Jones has worked for the company we have been moderately succesful, as far as football clubs and finance go. Recently we have not been. This is mostly due to relegation, which after two years, causes revenue to be cut by at least two thirds. This has been exacerbated by spending levels which demanded promotion. Due to bad footballing management and underperformance from players this didn't happen. The spending would have been sanctioned at board level and was not exlusively within Dave Jone's purview. Maybe Chelsea's financial director should resign or "speak out" because they make a loss? -

As for the Secure Retirement connection... again, wouldn't this make it all the more likely that he would have been swept out by Wilde? Firmer evidence that he must be regarded as a good egg IMO. -

FFS. Calm down. I imagine he was doing his job of preparing forecasts, budgeting, etc... I have no idea whether Dave Jones is any good at his job or not. I would suggest that the fact that a multitude of people have held the top job and have all chosen to keep him on indicates that he probably is quite good. His job is not to decide whether we buy players or how much we pay them; it is to make sure the board (of which he has a part and in which he has one vote) has an accurate picture of the financial ramifications of its decisions. Do you honestly think that Hone, Dulieu, Wilde etc didn't know they were spunking money in a big gamble? Do you think Dave Jones really needed to spell that out to them? Of all the people to castigate or question I think he is way down the list. You are rapidly becoming a self-parody. -
That's cheating, that is.

Sorry - it's Davies fault that they had an unchallenged header and there was no one on the post? Even Svennson himself has admitted he screwed up for that goal and James' "challenge" that lead to the freekick was dreadful. Kelvin has been one of our best 3 players this season IMO. If people think we're going to do any better in our current state then they need to wake up. Stern's miss, Svensson's ****-ups, John's lack of fitness, a poorly selected bench.... all have been much more influential on our two league defeats than anything Davis has done yet we still get mongs saying "we're going to lose because Davis is playing". Really ticks me off. You might as well say, "we're going to lose because Svennson is playing".

Ooohhh... look at the big tough police - "we have looked at ASBOs" - I bet their knees are shaking so hard their tracky bottoms are about to catch fire. Try arresting and charging the little ****s.

What happened?

The Latvian was a right little tubster. Apparently he's an MP too!

Some of the sailing birds were alright.

Cool - cheers for the advice. Was at Real Madrid v Roma last year in the Champions League and some of the Roma fans were best avoided!
-
Well I've been to both league games. He has been excellent in both.

Cheers. I'm just going to go to the ground and get the tickets when I get there. It probably won't be a derby match or one of the big clubs so shouldn't be a problem getting them. Lol - is that a lesson learnt the hard way? Whenever I see Italian footy on the telly it always looks as though the OB are itching for an excuse to unleash a baton charge on the ultras - is that not the case then? When I went to the Lisbon derby there was a mass brawl and also a police charge on the ultras (once they had managed to break through the human blockade that had been speedily erected). :smt075

They all look like men apart from 3rd from the right. If you want a better looking lady-boy go to Thailand.

The bleedin' obvious.

The same Davis who has been completely faultless so far this season? Yeah, what a bummer.
-
She shouldn't be allowed to have any of the above as it just helps the rot to permeate.

It's really hard to call. Conceivably we could blow Derby away and get a cushion. The corwd will be well on their back. Jewell will be clueless..... etc. On the other hand, we could have a good 30 minutes, get a goal and then be completely outplayed for the next 60 minutes (as per the last two league games). Also, who knows which players will be left by Saturday? I reckon we might play a bit cagier than thus far and come away with a 1-1.

Pay your fiver and do it on here! I can sum him up for you: Brave, good on the ball, not very pacy, not very good at full back, good at centre back, looks like Homer Simpson, went to the Twenty20 finals at the Rosebowl with a bunch of northerners. HTH PS - I'm sorry you have to live in/near Stoke.

I agree, I just think there would be some flexibility as they can see we are trying and have implemented various measures. Maybe their position has hardened since Rupert and Wilde got involved again?

Cheer up Bipolar fans, a fun surprise (which most already know)

I've already had one today but thanks for the thought. -
Getting a taxi is quite lazy though innit?
