Really hope he's here next season.

Ankersen is the driving force behind SR and also one of the owners. He's hanging around. Let's hope he starts exhibiting a bit of competence. Dresm scenario is this: - Semmens, Steele etc got rid of and replaced by people who actually understand the importance of creating a proper home football club atmosphere and ethos - Manager: either an experienced person with track record of Champ success (Cooper, for example... ambitious one, Rogers?!) or a younger manager with a penchant for attacking football but also with some pedigree in the English game (Carrick, Parker etc.) - Players: Tino back to fitness. Keep: GK, Tino, Perraud, Larios, Bree, Stephens, Smallbone, Alcaraz, Sulemana, Tella, Big Paul, Adam Armstrong, Edozie, Mara. In a real dream scenario, keep ABK and Lavia, but can't see it. Stuart Armstrong if he can sort fitness. Sell for right price: JWP, KWP, Salisu, Bednarek, Adams, and sadly Lavia and ABK. Try to shift: everyone else. Leaves us with McCarthy/Baz Bree, Tino, Perraud, Larios = strong Stephens, [Bednarek] = two CBs needed. CM = Smallbone. = At least two experienced CMs needed Forwards = Alcaraz, Sulemana, Big Paul, Armstrong. Realistically, we may well still have Djenepo as well, who I wouldn't mind giving game time too. He's got all the potential just needs to sort head and get some consistency. Don't know if we need to sign people or whether some youngsters can step up. So, priority areas for signings, likely CB and CM. And let's not go for hopeful punts on nippers. We can loan some nippers if we need to. Edit: forgot Edozie and Mara. Keep Edozie. Keep one of Mara and Adam Armstrong.

Exactly right. Also, what Newcastle did to escape last year. We must have known how he would need to be used when we signed him. It's not exactly a subtle intrigue. Yet the coach doesn't want to use him. Suggests dysfunctional club.

Be careful what you wish for?? Hasenhuttl v Jones v Selles

I don't think a single person wished for Nathan Fucking Jones and Ruben Tapas Selles. -
I said at the time that Mediocre Martin should have had no part in selecting Gao's purchasers. He had a huge conflict of interest as anyone with serious clout would have got rid of him pronto. The big task this summer is maximising the incoming from JWP, KWP, Salisu, ABK and Lavia. That ought to be comfortably 150m+ of sales if we play it right. Plus someone will probably punt 20m or so on Adams (although we should try to keep him). And if we let Tella go to Burnley that should be at least 25m. Stephens - sale to Bournemouth if they stay up? So 200m of sales is quite realistic. Not sure about DCC and Orsic. Guess they might go on loan somewhere. Walcott, Willy and AMN will be off the payroll. Stu Armstrong off to Scotland. Keep hold of Sulemana, Tall Paul, Alcaraz. Current GKs will be fine for Champ. Keep Perraud, Livramento, Larios. Maybe Bednarek. Get Smallbone back. Keep Adam Armstrong. Not a fan, but probably keep Elyounoussi too as he seems like a stable character and should be more effective. Djenepo? Basically means we need a rebuild at centre back and centre mid and cover at right back in case Tino isn't fit.... oh, yeah, Bree! Bazunu Tino, Bednarek/New, New, Perraud New, Smallbone, Alcaraz New, Tall Paul/Armstrong, Sulemana If we can get some experienced quality at CB and CM it shouldn't look too bad. Earn your corn, Semmens.

Yep. The one time he played a ball into the box with Tall Paul on the pitch was the one time we looked like we might score a goal.
-
Mental that we put one decent ball into the box all match, despite having pretty much total control over midfield. And that one time, we nearly scored. That's on Selles. Wrong team, wrong tactics.
-
There's not much point agonising over results when there are so many teams in the mix. Obviously we don't want "shock" results, like if Leeds had got something against Arsenal. What would be quite handy, however, is if Leeds, Everton, West Ham and Leicester take a stuffing now and again because our GD difference is pish compared to theirs. We could put a decent run together and get to around 36 points but still go down on GD. I think someone will stay up with 36 points but someone else will go down on GD with 36. Just a hunch.
-
Obviously he talks loads of shite om his political subjects, and the people who egg him on and give him validation represent an increasingly dangerous element of society (and unfortunately he falls within that group). But, as others have said, if you meet him he's absolutely sound and a lovely bloke.

The first Koeman summer was undoubtedly, in terms of incoming, the best transfer window we've ever had in the modern era. Pelle, Tadic, Alderweireld, Mane and then Van Dijk the next year. Top European talent and a couple of world class players in there. This is interesting because it is obvious that Koeman himself was responsible for identifying and requesting most of those players, not the moneyball dweebs.
-
The whole Fonte departure thing was weird. Freezing him out of the Europa League the way we did was bizarre. One of the things I'm most annoyed about was how we fucked up two Europa campaigns so badly. We should have been making QF / SF at least.
-
Good find! I was there. Don't remember too much of it though!
-
My dealer wont do drops until after Iftar, isnt it.
-
Yeah, we really needed more points from these last few home games. With our poor GD, I think we'll need at least 36 points, so 4 wins and a draw, possibly 4 wins and 2 draws. Not likely we'll do that in 10 matches.
-
I think he'll be good, given time. In the Champ he should be very good.
-
Credit to Walcott. Really good. Lavia class. JWP balls. Mara did very well. Good play Che. Unfortunately we've thrown 2 points away there with some poor defending. Far too deep for the last two goals. Need DCC to step up now.
-
Generally playing quite well but completely toothless up front. You can't expect to win a Premier League match with that attacking set up. And then, despite playing quite well, we're guaranteed one big screw up at the back. Going down with a whimper. P.s. even our pitch is shite now. Looks like a pudding.
-
I guess the back 4 is settled now. Obviously we'd all prefer an in-form Salisu to Bednarek but seems like Selles values something Bednarek brings. Obviously Lavia and JWP are our best midfielders. But we need some goals! In my view Alcaraz has shown he knows where the goal is, and we know Stuart Armstrong can be a very accomplished finisher and can also ping one in from distance. We signed Onuacho because he had a good goal record. So we need to get him in the team and give him some chances. Likewise, Adams has shown he can do it, but not when he's the lone forward. So, putting that all together, I'd be tempted to line up with a midfield and attack like this: -----Lavia----Alcaraz----- JWP-------Adams-----Stu -----------Paul-O-------- Let the WPs work down the right and get some crosses in for Paul.
-
Saints: at least it's not Portsmouth!

Every Premier League match is live on Bein and Astra - there is always a stream.

Yeah, it will be more like 36+. Based on performance so far, Leeds are on course for 33 or 34 points. Bournemouth, WHU, Leicester and Everton are all on course for 35 points, and Forest and Wolves are on course for 38. So, if you think we will stay up on 34, bearing in mind we have a poor GD, you are banking on Leeds not improving and on two of the others being poor to the point where we turn around a large GD deficit, whilst not winning many games ourselves. Seems unlikely. We need to be targetting 36 minimum and even if we are on 36 going into the final day, I don't think we'll be safe.
-
Nah, we need to win some games. We won't stay up with a bunch of draws and we will run out of games where we can get a win if we don't start winning soon. Important to win this one to build on recent momentum (Grimsby aside).
-
Looking at that, I would say we need to be targeting 12 points from the 6 home games (realistically, from the next 5 to avoid a pant-shitting final day against the scousers) and avoid defeat against WHU and Forest, ideally winning one of them. That gives us 36 - 38 points so another draw or win on top of that should do it. Home form is key though, to keep momentum and positivity. The Brentford game is massive. A win would really build on the last couple of results and suddenly give us a reasonable shot.

Nathan Fucking Jones, FFS, WTF! Mental. FFS! It didn't have to be like this!
