How about a project a bit like the Postal Service?? We could start with a riff, so say Baj creates something and sends it to me, I add drums and pass it on and so on until it comes back to vocalists. Then once more around for QA and hey-presto a song. Would be very interesting.

Yes essentially. They're free to do what they want, they can cover their backsides by saying that the odds are based on strong rumours and calculated risk. SSN is a media outlet so they have no reason not to shorten their odds.
