Driving on the right (i.e. left) side of the road
hutch replied to bridge too far's topic in Motoring Forum
They do, I've driven on them (with one eye on the minefield map they give you free in Stanley) Also drive on the left from South Africa all the way up the eastern side to the border between Kenya & Ethiopia. -
Bahrain, not just another Pro Democracy rebellion?
hutch replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Lounge
Can't agree with you on that one, Phil. The game in Libya changed from the Tunisia/Egypt scenario when the peaceful protesters took up arms and started what is, in effect, an internal civil war against the ruling authority. The UN probably has some legitimacy in intervention to prevent armed state aggression against peaceful protesters, but not in my view to create a military advantage for one armed domestic "army" against another, despite the inequality. It was a mistake the great man Ghandi didn't make. I think the UN has got it right this time, for a change, despite the wishes of Britain & France. I do, however, agree with your underlying sentiments on Bahrain. It's about discrimination (apartheid if you like), and the nepotism that goes with it, hiding behind religion. Just like Israel and Northern Ireland. -
I'd be more interested in one that shouts "I'm here" when you shout "where are you?"

Every remaining game is a potential banana skin for every top 6 (or 7) team. Whoever negotiates them best will come out on top. If I had to find a positive thought, I would say that our team have been playing under a high degree of pressure for the whole season, and are more used to it than the others, so less likely to slip up under pressure. Sure Walsall was a disappointment, but take heart from the results at Exeter & Bournemouth. We HAVE changed. It ain't over yet, and I still think we'll get there. Need to sort out CM cover 'though, with impending suspensions. But I'm sure the management are working on that. Not fussed about last night, we didn't let ourselves down in any way. UTS

I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it....

I'll have a Marlboro for you

Dunno, but 6 points off that lot down the road will certainly help.
-
Any side that includes Fonte, Schneiderlin, OXO, Lallana & Lambert. Rotate the rest from the squad if you like.
-
Hope you didn't put words like that in your lesson plans, Sue. They're not even proper words, you know.

I think Nigel's doing a pretty good job since he got here. Not as good as NC, but not bad. In the last 24 games we've picked up exactly the same number of points as Brighton, who, according to some on here, are having a great season. But I do wish he would either play our players in their best position, or not at all. It doesn't do their confidence, or the team's, any good to play people out of position. The squad's big enough not to have to do that.

Is that any better than SaintsPlayer?

Eddie Mitchell Stirs The Pot Before Cherries Game

Only the bad ones;) -
And probably have Morgan back in the side, and Lallana fully match fit

Probably not. More likely CFA "seefa", which is the currency issued by the central banks of West Africa, in my own experience as widespread as from Benin to Mauritania. It's a bit like the euro in that part of the world. I've got a bunch of them in my wallet right now. Last time I was in Senegal they were 680 to the dollar, or it might have been to the euro, I'm easily confused.

I must admit they were one of my picks for promotion at the start of the season, along with us & Charlton. 1 out of 3 will have to do
-
They cancelled the meeting after it happened. Clearly a case of shutting the stable door after the horse had volted.
-
Because after the first 6 games of the season we had 4 points and Brighton had 11. Since then (22 games) we've been as consistent as the league leaders, and more consistent than any other team in the league. Will that do?

Time for another smoke
-
"Dark" doesn't count as a weather report, Eric, so I'm claiming that one. Happy birthday, BTW
-
The weather's pretty dull here. We had a huge thunderstorm about an hour ago. And I'm outside having a smoke. HTH

How do you know that? Are you deep under cover , or just a closet skate?

A very large proportion of what they make is still sub-standard. I rarely buy anything Chinese-made if I can avoid it. By way of example, we recently built a section of a road in Tanzania, about 100Km long. The Chinese built the adjacent section, also about 100Km long. Both projects started at the same time. We opened our road 4 years ago. The Chinese are still there, digging up bits they thought they'd finished, and doing them again. Chinese contractors bid for almost every infrastructure project in Africa, often several of them. They are always cheapest. All of them. By a mile. It is by no means uncommon, though, for the job to be awarded to the lowest non-Chinese bidder. Don't get me wrong, they are definately coming, but they are not here yet. And as they slowly learn how much it actually costs to do things properly, they are becoming noticably less and less dominant.

Goes on to mention later that he was "blasted in the street by a gunman", so 18 pellet holes, presumably.

Britain moves a step closer to a corporate dictatorship

Am I missing something here? I admit I know very very little about UK taxes, but doesn't that article say that they didn't pay any UK tax anyway, as long as they left the overseas earnings overseas, and/or invested them overseas? Didn't they only pay the difference in tax if they brought that money back into the UK? Now they can bring that money back into the UK without paying any more tax, and spend or invest it in the UK (where it will then generate tax revenue). Isn't that a good thing in a weak-ish economy recovering from a deep depression?
