The Burnham Years - Can the new(ish) broom sweep clean?
iansums replied to iansums's topic in The Lounge
I remember at college in a Maths A-Level class shortly before the end of the second year, the teacher going round the whole class asking their plans post-college. Everyone said University until he came to me, ‘I’m getting a job’ I said. I’d had enough of full time education. (A lack of intelligence didn’t help either to be honest). -

Nor for lawyers, there are other routes as my daughter discovered with some of her work colleagues. -

Yeah, Elite was the wrong word (I thought that at the time but couldn't be arsed to change it), but I think you know what I meant, those with high intelligtence wanting to study nuclear physics etc. By professions, I mean Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants etc. -

Love it, well done Burnham, this is exactly what is needed. I've long thought that were too many kids going to Uni for pointless degrees, it should really be for the elite and/or key professions. Nice to us all in agreement for once. -
Black guardsmen and Asian ladies in waiting. On The Odyssey, saw it last weekend, enjoyed it, three hours didn’t drag but I can’t quite understand the massive love in for the film.

Not a film and not ruined, but Wolf Hall, series 2.

a) How would you know? and b) I just did. I'm just making a point. -

Possibly, the fairest system of all. Everybody benefits from local government so everybody (of working age) should pay. I understand this won't happen of course, the government will be trying to squeeze more money out of those who can afford it. -

And you don't get any extra local government services by having a larger (more expensive) property. -

No relevance at all, just my poor attempt at humour. -

Can’t agree with that. Anyway, this has nothing to do with our new PM, not sure why Farage needed to be brought into the discussion. (I know it wasn’t you Farmer) -

You made one innocuous and reasonable comment and then there was a massive pile on by ‘centrists’, quite funny really -

And I was talking specifically about WFH in the recent heatwave. It is certainly convenient to WFH if you have a medical appointment or have workmen at home etc. Personally, I much prefer to be in the office. -
Me too please Turkish. I can't understand why some people can get so upset by a few footie rumours, just take it with a pinch of salt. I have to say, I didn't really pay much attention to the CoT thread, the clues were too cryptic for a thicko like me, I guess that's why I'm not allowed a vote.

Just read on BBC website that the odious little ginger Argie sub who provoked Belligham at full-time is a transfer target for Chelsea. That would give them two of the little wankers.

What does amaze me is how many people WFH in recent weeks when we've had this heat wave. We are lucky enough to have really good AC in the office and some people choose to WFH in an oven, they can't be working efficiently. -
