  1. Looks like he's turned them down.............
  2. If the players he brought to the Club turned up to honour him, what a remarkable array of talent that would be. Shilts, Mick Mills, Dave Watson, Chris Nicholl, Keegan, Armstrong,Worthington, Wright, Dennis, Case, amongst others. Not forgetting Williams, Wallace, Moran ect that he gave a chance to. Throw in the cup winning side and family of Bally, and Osgood, some people might suddenly realise just what a remarkable job he did. The football he produced was the best they'll ever be in our City, in years to come his era will be considered a Golden Era in our Club's history. There will be no mention of boardroom stuff and alledged love of money, just acknowledgement of a remarkable era and a remarkable Saints Manager. Unfortunatly, it looks like he'll be gone, before his achievemnets are fully appricated by some.
  3. Robson had a stand named after him for what he achieved at Ipswich, which was remarkable.Nearly as remarkable was what Lawrie achieved for us, and to go back to the original thread, there's no way Bally and players like him would have ever signed for us without him. For giving us a decade of "fantasy football" I think there should be some sort of honour bestowed on Lawrie.
  4. You're right. If Terry paine comes back or Big Ron, should they pay for tickets? Or is it just people who were anti Lowe?
  5. My mates Dad played for the Skates in the 60's. He still gets a free ticket to about half a dozen games a season (he used to get 2, but now it's 1). The fact Lawrie doesn't, does seem wrong to me.It is the one minor thing that the new regime have got wrong. I think some explayers and Lawrie deserve a free ticket now and then. I just hope that when the great mans gone, he finally gets the recognition from ALL Saint's supporters that his achievements deserve.
  6. I would like to know about the scouting network and if it's being rebuilt. It's obvious that it was a shambles last year, witness Pulis, Forecast and Molyneux. Is Pards happy with it now, and if not, when will a proper one be in place?
  7. I saw the trouble up by the crossroads, a guy was being set on by 3 or 4 others, and one fat bloke stamped on his head. The police came up and grabbed the smallest person involved, but let the fat bloke go. A guy in a Saints shirt ran up to the police and pointed out the fat bloke, who was then picked up . I was trying to get my Nipper out of the way, so I may have a few details wrong. The guy did look in a serious condition just laying on the pazement. Later on I spoke to a copper by the Railway Station and he told me there was a lot of trouble all day.
  8. Two things that give me hope with Pardew is his track record and his signings here. His track record is pretty good, certainly for a League 1 Club and despite what happened at Charlton. However, it is his signings that have really given me hope. Trottman, Lambert, Hammond, Harding, have been excellant additions. It is the guys who were at the Club who benefitted from Jan and Wotte's revolutionary coaching set up, who are letting us down. When the chips are down, they appear to be clueless. Surely he could expect an International striker to contribute a little bit more than Saga has, and the great French white hope Morgan has hardly set the third flight alight. This Club was rotten to the core and if anyone thinks it can be turned around after half a dozen games then they're deluded. It's a good thing that Pardew is the new guy's man, after the start he's made. Had Wotte remained there would be speculation about him constantly and he'd proberly have been moved on by now, starting the whole "after you Claude" managerial roundabout all over again. We've tried the other approach, now let's give this guy time and get behind him............
  9. Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh bet against their own team and yet they're still living legends in Aus. Some people are overreacting a bit.
  10. To be fair to Lowe, he did turn down offers in his last Transfer window......................3 months before we went into admin. Personally, I dont want people at the Club who dont want to be there. Hopefully, this means that Pards believes the two will contribute. Either that, or the offers were really poor and we working on offloading them on loan.
  11. Have you lost the plot? Lawrie signed those players, he built the "best squad ever", and signed Keegan, Osgood, Ball because of his personality. There weren't too many about who'd have done a better job than Lawrie or Ted, but there's dozens and dozens who given Burleys inherited squad and money would have got us promoted. No players of the class you mention would have signed for George Burley, no matter what we were paying. As for the thread, I think we've lacked leaders and mental toughness on the park for a number of years.Hopefully AP is sorting this out.
  12. OK, but in a similar style, Curb Your Enthusiasm is a lot better.
  13. You couldn't make it up.............. Day after a takeover, Skates lose Distin, sign Tommy Smith and are linked with Michael Brown and some Watford Centre half.
  14. Not based on his performances for us he wont. Poor last season and poor this. In my honest opinion...........
  15. Thought he spoke well about it, and made some really good points about Mr Lowe..............
  16. Thank god you aren't a presenter otherwise you'ld have the most boring show in radio. It's a national radio station, 95% of listeners wont have a clue who Pinnacle are.............
  17. I agree, however it's going to be another blow to the support and also keeps up the "crisis club" line in the press. I can't see how they're going to replace him, or get anyone decent in. If rumours of agents fees outstanding are true, the agents aren't exactly going to push them to their players.
  18. You maybe happy to see 2 internationls stroll round, not interested and not wanting to play for the Club, but I aint. This is League 1 FFS, if Rasiak and Saga can't get in our side, either Pards is an idiot, or their attitude day in and day out stinks. I know which one I think it is.............
  19. Sagga's an international and was a Chmpions league player, Matt Pat is a young kid just starting his career. As poor as Paterson was, I was more disapointed with Saga. The sooner him and GR p off and find another club, the better.
  20. Evidently this is a report of his performance for Grimsby, so I dont think they'll be keeping him. Grimsby Town 0 Crewe Alex 4 IN 1996 Southampton were famously victim to an elaborate scam in which they fielded a player they believed to be a potential world-beater. The ‘agent’ of Ali Dai claimed he was the cousin of former world player of the year George Weah. In fact, Dai was a very average amateur footballer. By the time he realised he had been duped, then-boss Graeme Souness had allowed him to play for more than 20 minutes in the Premier League. On Saturday, alarms were raised that another Saints man was an imposter. But this time the joke was on Grimsby Town. With first choice keeper Nick Colgan injured, the Mariners borrowed Southampton custodian Tommy Forecast on Friday. The following day, he put in one of the most shockingly inept displays the Football League has ever seen. At times, the 6ft 7ins keeper appeared to have no knowledge of the position at all. All at sea throughout, he was at fault for the Alex’s first two goals and punctuated his performance with comedy moments
  21. We could name certain facilities after ex Chairman. Ladies could use the Askams, and men the Lowe's.............
  22. The truth I would like to know is why players like Pulis and Forecast were signed. Had Redknapp signed them questions would have ben asked. By all accountsForecast was shocking for Grimsby the other night, and I believe he's on a long term contract here. If we're going to have the truth let's have the whole truth from the moment WGS left. All of it, from why was Sturrock let go, to why did we go into admin days after the deadline. The past few years have been a complete and utter shambles and I would like to see people held to account for their part in it............
  23. He played well for Pearson I seem to remember. He did well for Brum today as well.
  24. Jan seemed decent bloke, totally out of his depth, but he's hardly going to turn the job down. I spoke to a Dutch Bar owner in Spain during the summer and he said JP is well respected in Holland for being a very good player. He also told me that Wotte has a bad reputation and has an overrated opinion of himself. It was a round the time he was reportedly off to Egypt, and the Bar owner said "you've had a lucky escape". I was glad he got fired and can well beleive JP's account of him being stabbed in the back. They came as a duo and should have left as a duo. As for Lowe, this just confirms everything I've ever thought about the Bloke. Dont forget there were people on this site prepared to run down and slander Lawrie Mac, Mike Osman and others on the basis they were against Lowe .
  25. At least it's not spouting rubbish about our "total football" and fawning all over the Chairman. When Lambert signed it made a nice change to read about it without silly quotes about how he signed because of our revolutionary set up.
