  1. Got to hand it to the Skates, their great at clutching straws. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A60539411
  2. A friend of mine works for a press agency. They have people calling them all the time with alledged wrong doings by famous people and in particular footballers at nightclubs. During JB's last 2 years at Saints they had more calls about him and a certain hobby of his, than any other footballer at that time.It is not a Southampton based agency, and yet they had call after call about him.
  3. That's great news, I can't remember this happening since Chris Iwelumo. Get Mr Byfield on the O/S.
  4. I've found the above makes a little bit of differance, as does using better head phones rather than the ones provided. You can also change the equalizer preset to acoustic, which seems to make it a touch louder. There are programmes that claim to remove the volume limit, but they will invalidate your warrenty. I didn't think it was worth the risk.
  5. I've finally joined the digital age, with the Mrs. buying me an iPod for Birthday. First download, and can't stop playing Leon Russell's Retrospective. The most underrated man in Rock music, pure genius.
  6. Agreed, Andy Sipowicz's is TV's best detective, bar none.
  7. Why? They broke FA rules for paying agents, so got 10 points, nothing to do with the FL. They got 15 for no CVA, a ruling that all FL Clubs had a vote on when it was applied to Leed.s They also received a further 5 points for being in admin 3 times. There has to be some penalty for constantly entering admin. The Clubs had a chance to throw out the extra points for CVA and voted FOR that measure. There is no doubt had previous rules been in place more Clubs would have taken the admin route in the present climate. The fact that in these troubled times, Clubs are not, shows the rules are working.
  8. There seems to be movement towards Clubs being run on a sound financial footing. In recent weeks both Southend and Accrington have avoided going into admin by paying the tax they owe. Boscombe are also desperately seeking a way of paying their outstanding amount as well. This has in the main been driven by Mahwinney and his measures for punishing Clubs that do. Measures that were voted for by the Clubs and have been applied consistently since being introduced. The 10 points being suspended until the following season was a direct result of Leeds going into admin following relegation and therefore swerving any deductions. This was also put to a vote and vote through by the Clubs. Bates' dodgy dealings in buying back the Club meant a CVA could not be obtained and another 15 points was added, Leeds appeal was held by all the other Clubs and again they voted with Mahwinney. The reason our 10 points applied this season was down to Lowe, Wilde, Jan and Wotte and not Mahwinney. He has also made Clubs publish agents fees, another good move, in my opinion. Luton would have been given the same points deduction Boscombe were, 10 for admin,15 for not having a CVA and 2 more for being in admin twice before. The FA topped it up (due to financial dealings) to the figure which guan teed relegation, not Mahwinney. It's very easy to sit back and complain about Mahwinney, but on the whole he's done more good than harm. I prefer his approach the making the Clubs sort their finances out than the Premier League's. Witness their head in the sand approach to Poorsmouth's latest circus, where they seem to be bending over backwards to ensure one of their members stay out of admin. The question of ownership is always going to be hard to police in this day and age, you can not just bar someone for not liking the "cut of their jib". You have to have proof before you start banning people from the game, but again would rather he was looking into it, than the Premier League. Overall the FL has become stronger and more financially sound under his leadership. The way he delivers the message, should not take away the fact that the message was, on the whole,a good one.
  9. That'll come after their relegated, when the Sky money runs out.
  10. I want them to go down in the most heart breaking fashion ever. Like Sheff Utd in 94 ( I think it was, when a late goal at Chelsea relegated them) or like Man C, when they thought they were safe and were playing for time. I want them to stage a recovery, winning 5 in a row to go 2 points clear of the drop zone, going into the last game. They're then robbed by a terrible refereeing decision in the last min, as a peno is awarded unjustly against them. They charge up the other end looking for an equalizer, but have a perfectly good goal disallowed for off side. Meanwhile West Ham score a dodgey off side goal in the last minute of their game, comdemning Poorsmouth to relegation. How funny would it be watching MoTD that night, all the pundits saying how unlucky they were, and what terrible decisions went against them, and there's nothing they can do about it.
  11. As pro EU, do you think it's right that the Irish were told to vote and vote again, until they gave the right response?
  12. The European project in a nutshell. Deny the "Peasants" a vote, because they'll vote the wrong way. Even when they are given a vote, as the Dutch, French and Irish found out they'll find a way to rail road their plans through anyway.
  13. If that's your view fine. However we were never consulted on it. The Irish were and voted against, only to be told to vote again. That is how the EU works. The French & Dutch voted against the constituation, so they amended it slightly and denied them a second vote. The Irish voted against it, so they were told to vote again. Why is it the Pro Europeans are always against referendums, if they're convinved they're right, then put it to the people. They wont because they know they'll lose, so they edge ever closer to federal Europe by stealth.
  14. There was a referendum in Scotland and Wales over devolution. There was a referendum over the Belfast agreement, and Northern England assembly in Nov 2004. Labour also promised us one over the pound as well. Therefore they can not be against the prinicple of a referendum. They just seem to be against this one, because they know they'll lose. Whatever the rights and wrongs in this Country, the fact is there was one in Ireland. The fact that the EU refused to let the result stand, tells you all you need to know about that body (as does the fact that their accounts have not being signed off, for god knows how many years) If you think our MP's expenses were horrific, wait until details of MEP's are leaked.
  15. The European Constitution was rewritten after the French and Dutch voted no to it. In most European Countries and by the people who wrote it, is agreed that the Lisbon treaty is 90% the same document. However, to get out of their manifesto commitment the Labour Government claim it is not, and their lemming like back benchers rammed this through Parliament. The Irish constitution guanenteed a referendum, and the "Treaty" was defeated. Was this the end of the matter ? No, that's not the way things are done in the EU, they were told "they've got it wrong" vote again. This tells you all you need to know about the EU and the way we're slowly but surely being sucked into a super state by stealth. The only reason Mandelson propped up Brown in the summer, was because a new leader would have to have called an election (to have 2 unelected Prime Ministers after Blair promised to serve a full 3rd term, would have been too much for the British people to stomach) and the Tories would have had time to hold the promised referendum before all countries had ratified the Treaty. Mandleson is a federalist at heart and federalists put the EU needs above that of our Country, leaving us stuck with a lame duck Prime Minister. The Tories, despite the pro Eu BBC trying to spin it as a U turn, cannot hold a referendum once it was ratified. You can not go back and renegotiate an Eu treaty once it's enforced in law, without the agreement of every country. Any referendum would be pointless and costly, and would change nothing. I believe that in Britain there are more people that want to leave the EU, than share the Eu establishment's vision of Europe. However, the centre ground is held by people, who want a free trade bloc, but want laws made in Westminster to supersede any made in Brussels. It can not be right, that I can be arrested in my country by a foreign police force for a crime that is not an offense in my own country. I am no BNP supporter, but Nick Griffin was right. Had he denied the Holocaust on Question time (not an offense in the UK), he could have been arrested, extradited and charged in Germany (where it is a crime) despite never having entered that Country. My view on Europe is very simple, I want what the British people voted to stay in, (back in 1975). A common market for free trade and the movement of people and goods. I do not want unelected Bureacrats making 80% of our rules, and in Ken Clarke's very own words, making Westminster like a "county council". I would rather be out, rather than in an Eu like that.
  16. Music is not like football, in that people aren't so partisan. You can appreciate artists and their talent, without being quite so one eyed about it.In football, if they play for us, they're great, play for someone else and they're rubbish. Personally I think Rick Danko was a genius on the bass, just a pity he couldn't resist the temptations of the road, and was a heroin addict for too many years. Looking for a decent Robertson clip, I found this, slightly off topic, but I may start a thread about the "Greatest piece of paper player in the world".:smt080 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDU0qK9xDRY&feature=related
  17. The original EEC referendum was typical of the European project and the way the European elite have moved towards a federal Europe by stealth. To enter the EEC and then vote whether to stay in or come out, skewed the vote.Once people were in it is less likely that they'll vote to come out, rather than vote to go in.The British people voted on whether to stay in a Trading block, not a European Union. Had they realized what Europe was going to become, I believe there would have been a no back then. You only have to look at the European Constitution/Lisbon Treaty to show the methods used by the pro European elite that govern our lives. The French and Dutch voted against it, so they amended the Constitution( by about 5%) and called it a Treaty. The Irish voted against the amended "Treaty", but were told to vote again. The British were promised a referendum by Blair, but denied one.It now looks like the same Blair could end up being the EU President, not by a vote of the people, but as a result of back room deals between leaders of the EU countries. The Pro Europeans are against any sort of referendum because the British people will always vote against further integration. Therefore to get their dream of a Federal Europe they move inch by inch, by stealth and the British people will never get a say.
  18. Steve Cropper is another one who rarely gets a mention in these sort of things.
  19. One who never gets a mention is Robbie Robertson, the most underrated player there's ever been. This clip shows him with Clapton and he's holding his own (worlds greatest ever bass player thrown in as well)
  20. To us (well the normal ones amongst us) Ted's a legend as well. Although by the 19C definition, rebuilding the Club serving it for many years and gaining us our first top flight season and European games, doesn't qualify.
  21. That is one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever read.
  22. Nobody will ever be able to match what Lawrie did for us. We will never sign the quality of player he did ,bring on youngsters like he did, will never finish so high in the league again, and it's doubtful whether we'll see that style of football again. We were like Keegan's Newcastle, but for 10 years, rather than 2. I couldn't care less what he's become or what he's done since, I'm just grateful for the years he gave us, and thankful I was of a generation that saw it. Just because Paul Macartney's become a bit of a *** and hasn't made a decent record for 35 years, doesn't diminish what he acheived previously. The word legend is used too much nowadays, but he is and will remain one at our Club. It's unfortunate that some will have to wait until he's gone before acknowledging it.
  23. I thought that Tory bird was pretty fit, she'd get my vote.
  24. Until the Govt ban them the BNP are as entittled to have as much air time as any other party that secured the votes and seats they did. It's a bit rich Peter Hain and Diane Abbott calling for them not to be allowed on, and yet their Govt wont make them a proscribed organisation. In terms of his performance I thought any reasonable person would have found him shifty and unbelievable, however no reasonable person would ever have voted for him and his thugs in the first place,so I doubt if he lost many votes.I can hardly see people watching and thinking "I was going to vote for them, but didn't like Griffin, so I'll vote Tory". The whole thing was a set up from the word go. There is plenty of mainstream Muslim opinion that would ban homosexuality and yet the question is never posed to any of their leaders in any BBC forum.Question Time, could be a really good programme, but it is spoiled by lightweight guests and pathetic questions. The BBC's political output is a joke. This week, that follows is just Portillo and Abbott flirting with each other and the Jock with the syrup making unfunny jokes. You get better debates on here.
  25. When I turned on Talksport and heard that Lowe had replaced NP with Jan.
