Spot on, great post.

Wont happen, the FA are foolish, but they're not that stupid, not whilst legal proceedings are going on. The police raids have cost him the job. Roy Hodgsons the man.

We blame Taylor,Hoddle,Keegan,Sven,Maclearn and now Capello. Let's put the blame where it needs to be placed, the players.

The Budget VAT Up - What do the LIB DEMS say to that
Lord Duckhunter replied to John B's topic in The Lounge
Meanwhile, away from the bleeding heart Lefties that read The Guardian/Observer http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/7856191/Lib-Dems-flounder-as-poll-shows-boost-for-George-Osborne.html Reducing tax credits supported by 80% of people, more medical assessments for Disability Living Allowance (82%), a levy on banks (78%), increasing CGT (68%) and reforming housing benefit (68%). Sixty per cent agreed with cutting spending in all government departments, except for overseas aid and health, by a quarter, and 53% agreed with freezing pay for all public sector workers earning over £21,000 a year. Some 52% said they thought the tough measures were necessary because of the state of the public finances.Overall 47% thought that the measures taken together would improve the state of the economy with only 19% saying they would make it worse. The results are a boost for Mr Osborne, whose personal rating was also up, by six points, taking the number of people who think he's doing a good job from 39% last week to 53% now. The coalition as a whole received a big boost in its rating, with the percentage of people thinking it is doing well moving up nine points from 45% last week to 54% now. -
The difference between The Beatles and every other group is the sheer quality of everything they did. They are not my favourite band, but there must be a 100 songs of theirs that I would sit and listen to over and over again. Look at the quality of their B sides Like Rain, Dont Let Me down, Come together, You cant do that, She's a women, Revolution. Classic songs weren't even singles at the time Yesterday, Back in the USSR, Lucy in The Sky with Diamonds,Eight Days a week,Day in the life, Here comes the sun, All my loving, while my guiter. Then there's the throw away stuff, even that is great When I'm 64,Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. There's also some real gems tucked away and never really mentioned like I'm only sleeping,Yer Blues, Two of us, Oh Darling. I think The Who had one or two better songs, The Stones did some great stuff, I love Steely Dan and my personal favourite is The Band, but none of those people ever got anywhere near the amount of quality that The Beatles produced.90% of what they produced was top quality and no one has got anywhere near that sort of ratio. I was lucky enough to see Paul twice, once in The Gaumont about 79 and once in Joe Robbie Stadium FLA in the early 90's, both times he was fantastic and I would urge anyone with a chance to go and see the guy.He can be a bit of a knob at times, but he knows how to put on a memorable show.

I managed to find some of the above film on utube. Looks like Keith is going to chin Berry in this clip. Great documentry anyone interested in this sort of music should seek it out.

Stealing another mans girlfriend
Lord Duckhunter replied to Dave Benson Phillips's topic in The Muppet Show
"Stealing" another mans bird is off limits, but borrowing her is a different matter. -
I'm happy with AP as Manager, but feel it was a shame that NP never got a chance to rebuild Saints. Most Saints supporters have a lot of respect for how NP conducted himself at Saints and I feel he was a class act. He's done a really solid job at Leicester, walking League 1 and then reaching play offs, but it can't be easy working for MM. There should be no AP/NP debate, both fitted Saints nicely at the time. The only debate should be between NP/Dutch Duo and whether we got value for money from the cheaper option. By paying a decent Manager a bit more, we could have been pushing for the play offs and avioded administration, there wasn't much difference between Pearson's last team and Holloways Blackpool.

This thread should have been, who would you rather face in the 1/4 final South Korea or Uruguay. It'll be the same old England, going out to glorious defeat to gemany or the Argies with everyone forgetting the simple truth that had we topped a very poor group, we'd have had an easy run to the Semi's. One Semi finalist will be USA,South Korea,Ghana or Uruguay, that hasn't come around by luck of the draw, or us being unlucky. It's come about because we couldn't score more than one goal whilst battering Slovenia and because we let Algeria get a 0-0. Algeria's last 7 games were 0-4 to Egypt,0-1 to Nigeria, 0-3 to serbia,0-3 to Eire 0-1 Slovenia and 0-1 USA, and of course 0-0 to England. I want England to win, of course I do, but if we go out to Germany or the Argies, I know how I'll feel watching USA or one of the others in the semi finals.

I saw Chuck Berry about 20 years ago, he did 40 minutes of his great stuff and then the miserable old git just walked off, no encore, nothing. There was a great documentary years ago with Keith Richards arranging a concert for him, I had it on VHS, but haven't seen it for years. My personal favorite is Jerry Lee, as Robbie Robertson says at the start of this clip "A one man revolution". "Hello Darling, this is the killer speaking"

The Budget VAT Up - What do the LIB DEMS say to that
Lord Duckhunter replied to John B's topic in The Lounge
They say you shouldn't make law on the basis of indivdual cases and I think the same applies to Welfare reform. There is always going to be losers in any budget or reform. Look at Labour and the 10% tax rate. On the whole I find it bizzare that millionaires get child benefit. How much does Karen Brady earn, yet she gets it? People are being taxed at 50% and then handed a benefit back. My personal belief is that welfare should be a safety net for the very poorest people, and yes there will be other deserving cases where people struggle and have to go without. But £30,000 a year is 2.5 times what some people earn. -
Even then we'll get The Argies in the 1/4 finals, the other 1/4 final will be South Korea or Uraguay. We were in a poor group and should have won it.
-
Then it'll be the Argies if we beat Germany. By not scoring another goal and not topping a poor group that's the run we get. USA will get Serbia/Ghana and then South Korea or Uraguay after that.

You've done it now, The best Beatles clip, it's like the best Matt Le Tiss goal, where do you start? For me this is great. Even at the fag end of their career, and despite all the arguements and splits, they were still as Paul called them a "great little band". This is one of my fav songs, written at a time when L&M were writting together and redone for the Let it Be album.

There are plenty of people who would love to earn a shade over £30,000 a year. If you are defining people on a shade over £30,000 as poor, then I suggest you come and join the Tory party. The bankers you speak of, they are able to claim Child Benefit, is that all right then? -

"The high debt levels going into crisis meant the UK would have one of the weakest fiscal positions in 2010" after a deterioration in public finances only exceeded by Ireland and Iceland over the past three years" That's what your independent highley respected think tank said of Labour's economic management. Basic goods and essentials are VAT free. People on £30,000 should not be getting benefit. Millionaires should not be getting child benefit -

When was the last time The Guardian outsold the Telegraph? Their revenues will go down further, now there's no Public "non jobs" to advertise. -

The Guardian are against the Budget? I'm sure they were prepared Weds moring to look at a Tory budget objectively and from a neutral point of view. Shall we post The Telegraph's praise, or is it only The Guardians opinion that counts? No wonder their circulation figures are so poor. -

Labour talked a load of rubbish yesterday, but this took the biscuit. Even with a Tory minorty govt, they would have got their budget through.Under a “confidence and supply" agreement the budget would not have been voted down. So the 2 choices, had there not been a coalition, would have been this budget going through or another election. Labour did not want or could not afford another election, an election which would almost certainly result in a Tory majority. -

He said it about the JPT tickets (or may have been Pompey game, I cant remember) and I think the poster is quoting from then. -

Labour were going to cut the budgets by 20% anyway. The Torries aren't cutting to fund tax cuts, they are cutting to balance the books. If I ran up huge Credit card bills and Mrs Duck had to take over my finances and the paying back of all my debts, is it her fault if I can't afford to play golf and go and watch Saints. Or is it my own fault for getting into the mess? This budget is Labour's legacy. -

Exactly. I had a pay freeze and also lost a £2,000 bonus that I should have got after hitting my numbers. When I questioned it was told "bonus schemes can be withdrawn or amended at any time". My boss basically said I had two options, lump it, or leave. I didn't have a load of Lefties sticking up for me, or go on strike. I just calculated that it was better for my family to have a steady wage coming in and whilst continuing to do the job to the best of my ability, would be on the look out for other positions. The Company lost a bit of loyalty from me, but I have to keep performing otherwise I will be out. There's no excuse of "low morale", why should the Public Sector be any different? -
Andrew Surman Has Been Told He Can Leave.
Lord Duckhunter replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
I'm glad we didn't resign him, nothing against the lad, I just dont rate him. Too one paced and too light weight. Not in the same class as Lallana and Morgan and I would rather have Puncheon and Hammond in League 1. Of the very long list of players who left this Club too early in their careers, Surman is way way down the list when it comes to who I'd like to have come back. -

The CBI Director General said "The chancellor has achieved his twin objectives of setting out a credible plan for the public finances and producing a convincing growth strategy for the longer-term. This Budget is the UK's first important step on the long journey back to economic health. The autumn spending review, and the re-engineering of public services, will be equally challenging." A spokesmen for Fitch Credit Ratings Agency said "Our preliminary assessment of today's Budget is that it sets out an ambitious deficit reduction path that, if delivered upon, will materially strengthen confidence in UK public finances and its 'AAA' status." Even Andrew Sparrow of the Guardian said "Generally, Osborne's budget has got a better reception than he might have expected". There were two choices for Osbourne, deal with Labours mess or try and fudge it. Thankfully he had the balls to do the right thing, and in 5 years time the British people could well reward him with another 5 years in office.
