  1. Thats an interesting read Long Shot,so thanks for posting it.I don't put your observations into the "ITK" ramblings read by any means. I note the greeting from Cowan, did you notice or detect anything in Fulthorpe meeting or speaking with Lowe ? I share your doubts that this JF takeover will materialise, and on reading your post the very thought of "Walter Mitty" had sprung to mind before I read it in your last paragraph. Something I don't understand from whatever I've read about JF and his "consortium",is whether he and his cohorts are the takeover,or is he arranging it as an agent for a client? Given his background as a barrister in planning, development etc I've considered this a possibility,as part of a larger scheme/development of the area. No doubt JF is well intentioned and sincere in his ambitions for Saints, but for me the vague prospect of the "money coming from " one of three unknown or unspecified sources is an indication of how far this in still in Dreamland rather than reality.(even allowing for him not 'wanting to divulge sources..blah,blah'.) Even if he can stump up the £,you have to wonder if the emotions of a supporter running things are better for us now than someone looking at it in cold terms of stark reality and survival.(I'm no supporter of Lowe either). Oh,and where does John Cousins fit in ?What is his background in this in terms of connections ?
  2. Doubt it will happen;lets not forget Sheff Utd are now shopping with the confidence of having a £30m cashfall available to them.Don't see us competing with them in the transfer stakes somehow.
  3. Totally agree. Someone will fall into the relegation mix after being in apparent mid-table safety in January..just as we did last season. Someone will suddenly appear from off the radar for a play off place at the end...just like I'm hoping we will this season
  4. If I were Ferguson I'd be more embarrassed about being caught on camera at his age chewing gum like a teenage pleb.
  5. Care to share any of it with those of us outside the Radio Hants area ?
  6. 2-0 away win is always a good and welcome result. Can't help feeling this is a relef result than one to inspire too much expectation though. Just hope it provides something to build on and move up the table rather than another momentary false dawn.
  7. This snippet, that he considered buying us before investing in Ipswich was mentioned in the Daily Mail today.I had not previously seen him mentioned with Saints. Nothing too exciting in this, except it was in Charles Sale's column who is supposed to be Rupert's mate.
  8. I share your doubts about the truth in Jans comment;he's just learnt some good management speak/cliches. If Jan did try and sign him however it proves that Jan at least believed the bloke to be up to the standard required at Helmond Sport, and the player was a realistic target for them.Just hope he's up to the CCC level we need. Good luck to the bloke at the start of his Saints career.
  9. 3 - 0 to Doncaster.
  10. Yes but for Villa and City these were isolated results ,ours was not. Furthermore the results you use were deemed cup upsets and shocks. Was our defeat at Rotherham really such an upset or shock ?That for me is the difference.
  11. Get that onto CD pretty quick. Proceeds to charity or Save Our Saints...
  12. I recall on the old S4E board at the time of the Wigley experiment, someone coining the phrase "Rupert, the father,Rupert, the son ,and Rupert the holy coach".
  13. Rupert wrote the intro to said book.
  14. Probably cost too much.Unless he'd buy out his own contract. Wonder if Rupert is on speaking terms with his club chairman now.
  15. Problem also is that RL has now publicly nailed his colours to the 'coaching revolution' so to change midstream would be embarrasing. That would never do. Just remember how long he persevered with Wartface after publicly exclaiming him.,yet it was obvious after a few games that he was not up to the job and never would be. Just remember where that got us though...
  16. Not enough people present to sing them soon though.
  17. Zed.End of story. You could approach his teacher with "I say zed,you say zee..lets call the whole thing off.." and move your child to another school.

Agree with every strand of your post. The other issues are having nailed his colours to the "revolutionary coaching",how could RL now abandon it and save face ? If he wanted a change, where on earth would His Rupertship look? Who on earth would be so desperate to take it? (no I don't even think GH would now...) Serious money ?Well, that is really in the land of Jackanory and I don't propose we waste time on that particular fanciful thread...
  19. The rats have already abandoned our sinking ship.
  20. I don't think will be up to the standard we require as long as he has a hole in his arse. Makes me want to weep when I think we missed out on Vokes.
  21. It is not the the bloke in charge who is the problem, its the dickhead who appointed him,and the tossers who have made this necessary... Please lets not start a crusade against Poortvliet there is a whole legion of people more culpable in our downfall than him.
  22. I have to think carefully about not only the money, but time involved in travelling to SMS now. Is it really deserving of two hours each way,on top of the best part of c£40 for young Badger and I to attend ? And if young Badger II comes, its more £,and the rubbish served up could put him off football for life;will either of them be prepared to take me there in my dotage if I inflict this on them now ? Chelt Town by the way have appointed Martin Allen in the last week,so where over the next few months are we most likely to get value for money ,and travelling time ?

Agree about Jan's position,he is the front line fall guy in all this but he comes out of it with honour and his reputation intact as far as I'm concerned. I have also previously asked the question over Wotte's role, and am not convinced. This was the man who Rupert remained in contact with after seemingly overlooking him two years ago.He was then instrumental in introducing JP to the club,But rather than a supervisory or DoF role, he is a reserve coach. It simply does not stack up. Look and listen to JP, he sems an honest-to-goodness bloke;Wotte - as someone who may have Rupert's ear - looks like someone I would not wish to buy a second hand car from.

I am more than prepared to give Jan a chance, and frankly am impressed by him in difficult circumstances beyond his control. Lowe on the other hand,I'm not sure I'd entrust him as custodian of our club anymore than I would Michael Jackson or Woody Allen to babysit my kids.
  25. That tournament will become nothing more than an 'Anti-English love in'. The most satisfying part of that tournament for those involved will be that England are not partaking in it,as if we had been excluded rather than having vetoed it.
