  1. Almost as original as : "would anyone like a War Cry ?" "yes, please" "right,...Geronimo......"
  2. Likelihood of planning permission for Staplewood = nil.
  3. The notion of Shearer demonstrates how fanciful this Fulthorpe deal is.Its all sorted in Fulthorpes mind of course but the one essential ingredient that is lacking is the £serious dosh.
  4. You can judge Lawrie entirely on his own record. Not everyone who holds that view of our club will be a 'serial non-achiever' because of their view, its just that both Claridge and Holloway are (IMO)in that category. My point was more to do with them passing judgement as if it were gospel in the media,(and people lapping it up as it suits a purpose).I've also added, that they are right on this issue.
  5. or throwing down a gauntlet to Rupert.
  6. Bizarre how serial non-achievers Claridge and Holloway can be considered fonts of knowledge to sit in judgement.* I'd prefer Cotterill to either of those two.Or even Dowie who has ballsed up at his last two clubs.Adams,I thought was at Brighton. *even if they are correct on this issue
  7. It will be too late by the summer to make any difference IMO.
  8. Just realised Matt Smith has the same hairstyle as Edward Scissorhands and Cherie Blair.

I can't help but thinking the mileage in this rumour is that it has travelled from a Southampton forum to a Birmingham newspaper. Hope its true as he'd be an improvement on DG but would have expected other lower prem/better placed CCC clubs to be ahead of us in the que. Also, wages ?
  10. Same profile as for a prospective Pariamentary Labour Party candidate then ?
  11. I wonder how closely the OS will be allowed to follow and publicise her progress. If for example she and Ulrika start talking about footie and Lucy says "Well,I'm a Southampton supporter, always have been and would be again if the arsehole of a chairman Lowe were to leave.." will they run that story ?
  12. ..as my border collie is a *****,she is far too ladylike to fart. My labrador a few years ago however liked to let rip!
  13. Gobby lancastrian tw^t,wins my nomination for cricket bat in the face award already.
  14. "90 managers currently out of work..." Do you think Katie Mellua could work this thread title into her lyrics somewhere ? Those in bold might not be so uninspiring compared to what we are now faced with...Cotterill however is probably the most plausible.
  15. A border collie,is a ***** Why am I not able to have the word b!tch shown ? It is afterall in the OED.
  16. Isn't Davina a (skinny titless) skate b!tch ?
  17. Lucy describes herself as a "tory bird",who does not like "bleeding heart liberals".Above all she's a Saint;top totty of the millenium. Go Lucy,go !
  18. Diagnosis on Lowe is "nothing terminal".
  19. ESB, Just read your posts and was intrigued by them.My recollections about easter 1976 have been confirmed by reference to ITN,but I would not have known the date of the Villa game. The Monday was Oxford at The Dell. This is a vivid recollection for me as it was the fixture a dog ran onto the pitch in the second half, and Channon at one point had to take the ball round the dog after beating their defender. Everyone was in high spirits with the cup final only a couple of weeks away and amused by the dog episode until someone pointed out " it wouldn't be so bloody funny if he tripped over the dog and missed the cup final though would it ?" Villa was 3rd Jan.Interestingly, we played fixtures on 26th,and27th December that year but not on 1st Jan...although it might have been postponed of course!
  20. That is also how I see them.
  21. Did Ted Bates employ a specialist eye coach ?That really was quite visionary - excuse the pun - nearly 50 years ahead of his time and SCW. Out of interest why did they try yo clatter TP ? Its often been suggested by older relatives that for all his skill TP was never too popular amongst team mates,is this proof of it ?
  22. I think you've hit the nail on the head there.Have to say this break from tradition annoys me,just as the Christmas fixtures, on Boxing Day and then the Sunday, 28th.In the good old days I'm sure they'd have played a second fixture on the Saturday. Worse still is Easter. In the 60's and 70's it was Good Friday,Saturday and then Easter Monday. In the 1970's second division Saints were likely to have fixtures against Plymouth,a punch up with one of the Bristol clubs, and Oxford Utd or Cardiff thrown in for good measure. Three games in four days, them were the days.Tell that to the kids (and namby-pamby players) nowadays and they don't believe you.
  23. Or perhaps Rupert is "playing hardball" ,whatever that might be,in negotiations over Surman.
  24. That diet might stunt your growth.
