This has been my take since he arrived, but I don’t really see how the transfer window has either reinforced this or changed anything. Given our league position we were unlikely to spend big (by our standards), and you can’t criticise the club for that stance. Had Juric overseen an upturn in form and won four or five of his matches so far we could have been in with a shout of staying up, and perhaps we’d have dug deeper to spend( Not blaming Juric for that by the way).
-
And then he won’t play for them either … but the £ will more than make up for that
-
Not disagreeing that it’s the thing to do.
-
But that’s part of the question. Even if Spors was with us at DoF would the negotiations fall within his role ?
-
Definitely preparing for Championship then. If true.
-
Stephens ? At least he wants to play for us.
-
Who is actually responsible for negotiating deals after the target has been identified? Even if we have a DoF in place, would that rest with them or someone else at Bosrd level ?
-
Were the deals related in any way ? Just hope we didn’t make concessions on the SAA deal (% sell on etc) expecting them to be reciprocated for Sylla.
-
Perhaps he was wearing ear muffs before going on air.
-
Hadn’t heard of him until the last 24 hours so won’t lose any sleep over him not signing. The loan with option in our position isn’t a great arrangement. Likelihood is if shows anything of note and we want to sign him,he’d piss off somewhere else in the EPL.
-
Fuck off else somewhere else I'd have thought. How much did we waste on him and Salisu?
-
Agree with you, but I also think we'd benefit from someone who is both competent for the role, and committed to it over a few seasons, not a stop-go-stop-go type of musical chairs we've had with Shields, then Willcox pissing off. But we've got to accept the club can't chain someone to the desk, and if remotely successful they'll be viewed as fair game by others higher up the food chain. Spors after a season with us is likely to be the same with both EPL and probably Bundesliga clubs watching his progress.
-
That's part of his job though - the club can't control is how the media portray it.
-
Interesting point about their link to Chelsea. Have to wonder if we'd still be considering €7-10m if wee thought Chelsea were signing him. As someone else said we should include a hefty sell on %. Wonder if we could insist on his registration to play should he come back to the UK, if such a thing still exists.

I’ll reserve judgment on Wellington until he’s been tested playing against better opposition. In a months time perhaps we can claim our scouts have signed a gem, or be saying he’s off to Goztepe in the summer.
-
Is he just having a sulk because his mate Lego has got the push ?
-
I wonder if that is working for the club (or Group), but based elsewhere to avoid the Work Permit problems as others have mentioned. At the moment I’d be optimistic about the appointment given his name has previously been linked with Newcastle etc. Having said that, Ankersen also came in with a ‘good reputation’.
-
Yes, reading that reminded me of some fat cunt in a blue shirt in the home end upper section behind the goal last season who thought he was the dogs bollocks gesturing during the game. Delighted to beat them just to get at that prick.
-
Yes, but don't assume the ending will be the same. The escape committee will use the plans left by Martin, drawn up with Ankersen, and after burrowing a couple of extra needless 90 degree bends in the tunnel they will still come up 5 yards inside the camp
-
And remind me, how many points exactly is that worth ?
-
Good point, that during that year we were shit because we were penniless. This time round we’ve spent best part of £200m to be this bad. That’s a pretty impressive achievement by inept and muppet management at the top.
-
Agree that he would seem the obvious candidate. But Saints seldom go for the obvious or outstanding. And less inclined to pay compensation. Rowett has done well at Oxford, but he seems to be the ‘Championship go to’ option. Been at several clubs nothing of note. I suspect Eustace might be more in the SR mould. (Not suggesting that by the way, just speculating on an SR appointment).
-
I don’t think there will be anyone in the ground after the last match for the’ lap of appreciation’. Let’s be honest very few stayed for last years.
-
Know how you feel. At kick off yesterday the overwhelming thought was oh, Christ let’s get this over with, not the sense of anticipation that we used to have.

Our supporter base is far too passive though. In the Branfoot era I thought the SISA initiative was a good one and hoped it would continue, could do with something similar now. Unfortunately though the original as I understand it fell apart. Not sure why was once told due to egos and internal squabbles. But as you say, what is the protest against, shit results ? I don’t think people are against Sports Republic as such, or Dragan, so much as some of his employees and their decision making.
