Blimey. It was a Saints eleven from a league one side - Peolpe need to remember that our first eleven isn't very good (hence we are in league one). So if you take our poor team, take out half the first squad and replace them with nippers and fringe players, why wouldn't Salisbury be in with a chance. Some saints fans have been living in delusion that we are a big prem club. We are not and we have consistantly demonstrated this over the last vfew seasons. Hopefully this is a reality check - for AP, the players and, importantly, for us. Do not expect miracles immediately - it will take time. Even if we sign half a dozen players tomorrow it is going to take time for to learn to play together. That said - if in two months time nothing has changed then I take it all back. Until then, patience.

Just a thought... What do the ambassadors do? and do we really need one? Or is this just a nice thing to do for MLT

Derry, I think your rant is slightly premature. If in ,say, two months nothing has changed then fair enough I would agree with your post whole heartedly. But just because our club has changed hands, it doesn't necessarily translate to an immediate improvement on the pitch. Two weeks ago the club and the players were it a very bad place. It will take time to change that.

He may have been ineffective in the CCC but I suspect he wuld have done a decent job in this league. It has been said many times on here that the physical aspect of the league should not be underestimated. I suspect his wages were more influencial in allowing him to leave - AP could probabaly get two or three decent league one players for that money. One other thought. How long will AP need to assess the squad properly before he knows exactly what he needs. So far he has seen one game and had one training session. I suspect we may not see any new faces until next week.

Sounds like we need a beer poll. I am more likely to buy a second pint if I liked the first. In fact I will go so far as to say decent beer, more sales, more revenue, bigger transfer kitty, better players, more wins, champions league. It couldn't be simpler - just give us decent beer and the rest will sort itself out

About time some one brought our lot under control. It is a sad fact of life that footballers seem to need a firm hand to keep them on the straight and narrow. I can sort of understand (but not excuse) why the kids get caught up in the socialising aspects - its fun, but the older players should behave, well, profesionally and turn up on time, give 100% etc. Funny how all the good managers out there (Fergie, Jose, Capello for example) are ones who are strict and whom the players wouldn't dare cross. Hopefully Pardue is in the same mould.

Can't see it - the only reason he or any of the others would turn up is to enjoy an afternoon of football. What do you think the chances are of that when the stadium turn their collective gunsights on him. When he was chairman he used to get paid for the abuse, can't seeing paying for it unless he's into to that sort of thing.

didn't see this one coming. I was initially nonplussed but on reflection this just might prove to be a really smart move. Alan, welcome to the club and thanks for taking on the challenge

Don't worry we got the "yoof"

nope - hey whats this 30 second rule business

nope

Football skill (or lack of) be damned. He became a non-entity in my eyes the minute he got involved in that fiasco in portsmouth. Glad to see the back of him.

Christ no. They were giving them out free a few years back to the kids. I was positively murderous by half time. An oompa band would be more appropriate.

Save the pretty stuff until we are safely anchored in the Prem, then we can think about playing attractive football. We may even have the players to pull it off at that point. This sounds like a case of "need" and "want".

Good point. Wine interfering with database retrieval system. But you get my drift..

FWIW I think given time and the right circumstances SCW would have had a positive influence. However, the were two issues. One Harry - he was never going to buy-in in a million years. Secondly, the level of expectation in the Premier League is massive - big results immediately. SCW acheived what he did with the Rugby Team over a number of years. The same squad all working towards a long term goal that was shared by the RFU. It could never happen in football.

I am actually glad that the new owners are taking an apparantly considered approach to appointing a manager who should be in charge for at least five years. Rather that than them signing the first t055er who swings by sms (cough tony adams cough). It is frustrating, sure, but I am convinced that it will work out in the long run, which is what matters ultimately.

He would unite the majority of the fanbase - but for all the wrong reasons. IMO he just isn't upto the job - all the personal stuff is irrelevent

Harris obviously isn't grumbling because he felt Saints would have been in better hands (Cos at the end of the day how much more money does our owner need to have). So .. how much was Harris going to make if he managed to broker a deal. My guess is 1% to 2% (or somewhere between £150K and 250K). In my opinion the self serving git can shove his sour grapes where the sun don't shine.

Don't you mean Lucy Pinder going like a train

For the fans to choose a manager they would have to agree with each other. Have you read this board lately?

Welcome to League 1 boys and girls. I have a nasty feeling that this could be the rule as opposed to the exception. Time to get the wallet out Markus.
