It has got to be phased out gradually otherwise if you got upto the threshold, earning £1 more would cost you £4k in tax. The question is I guess at what point does the phasing out begin

In reality the left **** up the economy trying to help the many at the expense of the few, only to discover that the many are suddenly out of work whilst the few retain their jobs. so they try to be lefties and end up at the torys outcome

You have to earn £150k pa before you get to 45%. What you are in effect saying is that the 40% band is too low as well.

you have the benefit of a balanced budget

either we have the nhs or we don't. If i earn a lot of money, then I am paying 40% or 45% tax. Isn't that enough? Should I have to pay even more to access healthcare? In essence, what you are suggesting is the income tax rates are too low.

Sucks to be you.

The zero hours contracts issue is an interesting one and is one of those that is being used as a political stick, unfairly in some cases. there is definitely place for them, in fact 1 in 5 on people on them would actively choose them over a fixed hours contract. there are however abuses - bad is the general week to week uncertainty of hours, however the worst by far is employers restricting employees from taking other work whilst on a 0 hours contract. That is just plain wrong. by all means legislate to remove the abuses of 0 hours contracts, but don't ban them as they have a role play.

Chelsea have had a resell scheme for a few years. IIRC Chelsea charge 10% commission for doing this. Also it will be interesting how saints handle the non sold out games. Do you offer your ticket back on a sale or return basis, if so you could still be lumbered with them come match day

Correct, now if you were looking to invest in a European country, the tax rate is a considerable factor in the decision. If a low CT rate that means more foreign companies set up in the UK, then that can only be good can't it?

Pap - often you have good points to make (when not talking about conspiracy theories) but these pictures just make you come across as a bit of a plonker

The problem with this election so far is that individual promises and plans are being introduced piecemeal by all parties - so that it is hard to pin down what each party is committing to in totality. I would also like to know in total just how much each party is going to spend over and above what we are currently spending and how it will be paid for. Labour committed to a £30bn deficit reduction yesterday and when challenged today about how to fund this Rachel Reeves referred to the proposed mansion tax. Now I am pretty sure that I have heard labour ministers allocate the revenue raised by this on other projects. It would be a lot easier if the manifestos had to be costed out and that the assumptions made by the parties verified independently, like the old chestnuts "efficiency savings" and "reducing tax avoidance"

Fair play - even if they did cut the price 1 or 2 % it would only amount to £10 or so per ticket and there would still be people whinging about that - I would rather they used the £200k saving on the club
-
Clubs in the League 1 and League 2 operate within a Spending Constraint framework termed Salary Cost Management Protocol (SMCP). SCMP limits spending on player wages to a percentage of club Turnover. In League 1 clubs can spend a maximum of 60% of their turnover on wages - in League 2, the limit is 55%. There are no restrictions (in themselves) on the amount a club can lose or spend on transfer fees. T/O = £6.6m Wages £3.85m % = 58.33 Oh oh

If it was a case of suicide, unfortunately rational thought does not come into the equation. A friend of mine who did try to commit suicide cannot, to this day, remember the hours leading up to the attempt nor the attempt itself.

There was a chap on 5live who was a former flight captain with the CAA. He talked about the door issue: Basically if the remaining pilot does not want to allow access he can lock the door and no one will be getting in, however if this is not done, the pilot on the outside can override the door so that if the remaining pilot did have say a heart attack - the pliot outside would be able to get back onto the flight deck.
