Im not sure I agree. 99% of people who can afford a £2m house will be able to afford a tax that is imposed. I also don't beleive it will depress house sales for the same reason, it will be accepted as the cost of living in that house. It it is a bit like when they increased the road fund licences to £400 for high co2 cars. It didn't stop people buying £100k Porsches, they just grizzled a bit and then got on with it. that is not to say I think mansion tax is a good idea,

The very fact that they need this is proof that these debates are a total waste of time.

A bit harsh imo. If however she was referring to our scaley chums down the road then she would have been bang on. she really is a horrible creature

Old Vincent cable has been quiet, considering the prominent role he played last time. Is he standing down?

A vote by vote minority scenario would be a total disaster. At least with a majority or a coalition you can get a sense of what the next five years will hold. What business is going to want to make longer term investment decisions if they don't know what is going to be passed as law from one day to the next. if this happens, we will be back to the polls way before the end of the five year term.
-
interesting that three of the debaters today have not sat in the commons before. it really is an eclectic election this time

Tell you at 5pm on the 24th May

So hypothetically, Labour win, but Balls is unseated - who would be chancellor??
-
On a different subject - will Ed regret taking part in the challengers debate. Without DC and NC to attack, will the minor parties turn their collective gun sights on him instead.
-
It just poor decision making, everyone knows that in monopoly when the board is stacked against you, the safest place to be is in jail.
-
decisions decisions!!! Alan Knight - the pompey legend - who, like the three previous pompey legends to manage the club, will be sheite, or Nigel Adkins - who judging by the comments from our piscine friends, will complete divide the fan base. There is only one outcome of which we can be certain - much lolage for us. Happy days.

J-rod, Great news that you are well on the way to recovery - now sign the effing contract. -
The definition of poverty is 60% of the median household income or approx £14k pa - so no it is not poverty in the truest sense of the word, ie that that is experienced in the 3rd world - but it is still bloody hard to get by if that is your household income I saw this article when trying to find out what the definition of poverty was - basically says it would be better referred to as inequality not poverty http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/sep/05/poverty-uk-better-calling-it-inequality

Food waste in this country is a scandal. When farmers have to plough in a field of perfectly good vegetables just because they are too big/small/knobblely for the supermarkets, just so the consumer can have a perfectly formed carrot (which they will then chop up!!!) you have to wonder what on earth is going on.
-
still think you could half that number, whilst you would still need the maintenance staff etc you would save on back office / corporate governance staff.
-
Fair enough that they need to be self funding, but there must be a way to save money here. For instance, if you merged the three in your town, it wouldnt be too hard to save a few hundred thousands which could then be used to build a couple of extra houses a year. It doesn't seem like much, but over the longer term it would increase the housing stock (subject to the Tories selling it)
-
Just looked it up, there are 1700!! That is 1700 CEOs and 1700 CFOs etc etc. Why on earth do we need that many? Sorry to hear about your daughter, hopefully she won't end up having to manage Pap.
-
As an aside to the rtb issue, just how many housing associations are there. Surely there could be some rationalisation here, save a bit of money and use the savings to build a few more houses

You need to have a word with the Angels. Sounds like they got more than their fair share. either that or your missus has been at it on the sly
