It's quite amusing watching these politicos try to explain away the exit polls

Jesus, there are some huge differences there

Fair play to Nicola sturgeon. Best campaign and outcome by a long way. utter disaster for the libs, although they still might hold the keys to number ten

Well this voting for the parish council malarkey. Choose 8 out of 12 candidates. Once I had disregarded those with party affiliations (party politics has no business in parish council imo) I was left with ten options. Ten people I don't know, haven't met, In fact have never heard of. How are you supposed to choose? 5 lived fairly close to me so they got a tick, they are less likely to allow anything to be built in their (and therefore my) backyard. That left three more out of five, I gave up at that point.

i don't get your point. How does this picture excuse the article in the mirror?

I don't care what political point is being made, to do so in such a manner is just crass.

To create a buffer zone to protect the decent hard working folks in the South from the incursions of the rabid Scots

Ah, election eve. Tomorrow we will be done with this circus. Thank God.
-
Who ever gets in I hope they form a coalition with a majority and not a minority government - a minority government will be a nightmare for the country
-
Much rather a head of state who is born to the position and sees the role as a duty, than a politician who craves the role for the position it gives them We have enough self serving gits in the palace of Westminster without infesting the other palaces with them.

If only that had read, "Miliband defends his pledge, stoned."....

You're in luck Bearsy, it's a girl

Hendricks is good - serve with cucumber tanquery ten is also good fever tree tonic is a great mixer
-
So what if one of the undecideds was a Tory all along. The fact is Milliband should be able to deal with all types comfortably. With this lady he struggled and th Labour media machine are making the usual noise to hopefully drag the attention away from this fact. all parties do it.

Its all greek to me

One of the girls in the office said to me one Wednesday last year, "Happy Hump Day" - I was feeling pretty good about myself thinking that I still had it with the ladies, until someone told me "hump day" means getting over the hump / mid point of the week. I have never forgiven Wednesday since

The thing is they rarely change the legislation because they have moved on to the the next shiny thing. Zero hours contracts work when used responsibly, most of us would accept that. What government needs to do is target the specific abuses ie you cannot deny someone for working for another business unless you are prepared to guarantee a fixed number of hours per week. if you introduce any legislation, do it from day 1. Otherwise you create a finite lifespan for the job. and hire someone from the industry to sanity check the rules and try to beat them. You will get rid of the most obvious loopholes
-
unfortunately, in my experience when the government legislate, you end up with a sledge hammer to crack a nut. Yes, they will resolve the problem at face value, but unfortunately they don't have the wit to wonder what the industry they have targeted will do to get around it, because they will.
-
As you describe it, it is not a good thing, however 0 hours contracts are used by the recruitment industry and to be frank, it is in the recruiters interests to get the workers to do as many hours as possible because they earn on the hourly rate. Now I beleive that there needs to be some finessing of the law around these contracts, however what I fear is that the government will pass a one size fits all law which will hurt more people than it will help.
-
There is nothing wrong with 0 hours contracts provided that they are not abused. In fact the majority of people on them prefer them. My issue with them is the companies that say you can't work for anyone else - ban that and you will have fixed a big part of the problem. Giving more rights to people after 12 weeks will mean that no one on zero hours contracts will hold down a job for more than eleven weeks. It will be exactly the same outcome as the agency workers regs. The very people who the legislation was supposed to help will suffer.

Ed was alright once they got off the economy.
