harsh!.....it's a shame we don't have a like button here......I will point out though that we MAY have a few readers dealing with addictions like Whitney, so actually, it's probably nearly as bad. Although I told it in the US and no-one got it until I realised it was "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS" there.

Argentina upping the ante on the Falklands....
Hockey_saint replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Lounge
See, this is what you get for being a "bit busy" fighting wars around the globe....we left a flippin sign on the islands that said "toodle pip boys/daegos/wops/itaes/indibobs, we're off for a jolly good pasting of those 'orrible froggies, please be kind enough to not squat on our land and ifso please vacate once we return". Classic story really...the Argies (the river plate confederation/ corsairs) being the squatters. There is a valuable lesson to be learned here: Don't leave your house unnattended for squatters to come and take residence and in this case, even when you think you're shot of em, they still moan that they once squatted there....nightmare! -
The first game I ever went to at the Dell, Emilyn Hughes r.i.p, was sat right in front of us.

So that's 2 games and 4 points from those two for us...do they forget who spent 27 years in the top flight whilst the other team were in and out like a woodpecker? do they forget that it's supposed to be thair natural right to the title? so much so they've already booked the thames river cruise? and they call us arrogant? seriously? it's you, the west ham fans who most of the league see as the arrogant bell ends thank you very much.....thanks for keeping our spot warm however, we'll be taking that back shortly.

As said before, it's a can of worms; surely it would have been best, at the nearest opportunity, of had a word with the nearest steward or police man/woman who's duty-bound to deal with it, going home and THEN phoning or contacting the club seems a bit vindictive and could be left open to someone suggesting you made it up. As said before, it needs to be stamped out and immediately.

I'm in the middle of a long-winded research project report so I'll have to hold my hand up to that one; also most of my other posts are written while doing 3 things at once so yes, that is indeed what I meant...cheeky blighter!

I nearly p!ssed myself with laughter when I read that! 5*****

Well....this seems to have rapidly deviated from the original intent of the OP!....personally, I agree with Turkish to an extent; the grass isn't always greener on the other side and there does come a point where such a thread can be percieved as a bit whiney. But it doesn't hurt to aspire to better, but you need to keep you're feet on the ground and not jepordise the job you already have (i.e. cutting your nose off despite your face).

Yeah, it's called Hung Leng Kuen kung fu (translated two ways 1, "Free spirit fist" or 2, "the art of the multiple changing fist") it's been about at Southampton uni since '82 I think (although it's a fair bit older than that) The thing about kung fu is that it's not sticcato(?) and very rythmic, unlike some traditional arts (I say that, but when you meet a very high up expert in most arts, they tend to look a lot like kung fu, even Karate) the founder always said the whole point of HLKKF was to take someone "from this (standing) to this (on the floor) as quickly as possible" which I think is a very good and succinct description. We generally have around 10-15 people in each class; some students and some not....it's all good fun. I think I included a link before, but if I didn't: http://www.soton.ac.uk/~hungleng

I love the people who walk up to our club and say "I do mixed martial arts/jeet kune do", really love them....one art not good enough for you or is it because it's fashionable? We hold a tai chi lesson on a tuesday, but some are a bit shocked when they find out that tai chi is in fact a martial art (tai chi chuan means "grand ultimate fist") in itself and basically just a way to allow a person to fight and defend themselves when they are otherwise incapable...old for example.

A. WHY!!! Why bring it up again, yesterday I felt like I needed to renounce my nationality (I will again if he's appointed) and B. I think the second one, by the independent is the best

Conclusive proof (not that it was needed) that Socialists are ugly as ****
Hockey_saint replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
You know what they say. Ugly on the outside beautiful on the inside; so is what you're telling us is that capitalists are ugly on the inside? now, even for me that's quite a generalisation. -
I know the very one; in fact I was thinking of having a look at it as it's actually very very (and I do mean very) similar to the martial art I do, Hung Leng Kuen Kung Fu at Southampton university, which I do Monday, tuesday and thursday evening and saturdays for 2 hours at a time, with a termly (3 months) cost of £10, bargain! (I know what you're thinking, kung fu, but trust me, the system Sijo Dutton (god rest him, he recently passed with cancer) came up with is, in the words of the army "different and direct"; Krav Maga, from what I've seen use essentially the same holds and self-defence techniques as us...i.e. the hammer lock, and the average "claws are for adults, fists ae for people who don't want to hurt anyone as it was designesd not to fit in an eye socket unlike a finger and rip their f*cking nuts off so we don't get son of w&nker" kung fu eh? all flowery and such a soft art lol) the web addy is: http://www.soton.ac.uk/~hungleng

Oh thank God/Allah/Budda/Yewah for that!

That's exactly why I mentioned losing fat is, to a point, more important than losing weight. Since July I've been running and hitting the gym (on top of the martial art I work at) and whilst I've dropped from a 36 inch waist to the lowest of a 28 inch waist, my weight has actually slightly gone up (that'll be the muscle growth). But have no illusions, the best way to lose body fat is a cardiovascular activity such as running.
-
Not true, whilst it is true when you build muscle, it requires a higher supply of calories to maintain a weight, therefore you'll lose weight (although at a certain stage, weight becomes unimportant, but rather fat is) by eating the same as before (if it's not an insane amount) to maintain such muscle growth, it is a generally accepted rule that any cardio work over 30 minutes will lose body fat quicker than weight training.

India tells Britain: We don't want your aid
Hockey_saint replied to OVER THE HILL's topic in The Lounge
None of you appear to know much about european colonialism...in general really. The Rhodesia example is a bit of a misanoma because whilst, yes, it was a self-controlling colony, it had very little to actually do with the British government and a great deal more to do with Cecil Rhodes, Frederick Bernham, Selous and that lovely man who has a statue of him sat in the docks in Poole, one Baden Powell. I actually did a major a-level project on the scramble for Africa and specifically The Ndbele and Shona tribes /Zambesia/Rhodesia and I can tell you now, whilst it is true Spain, Portugal, the Dutch and to an extent the newcomers Germany had already made their way into the interior, chiefly for greater numbers of slaves, gold and land, Britain was most definately there too; in fact they had no excuse to be on the west coast whatsoever. Anyway, I digress, Britain sub-contracted the taking of what was to become Rhodesia to Rhodes's company who won with the maxim gun (side issue here, but did you know Rhodes was often quoted as saying "I prefer land over n*ggers"? and that just about sets the tone for the country named after him, a bunch of racist whites who thought the black man was most definately inferior to them). So please, don't use Rhodesia as an example because even to Apartheid South Africa, a country with the maximum of 120,000 people rulling 32 million was a joke, a very racist one too and on that point, considering (albeit, railways, a language and a bringing together like the Danes forced the Saxons to do to create England) how badly we treated India, I'm surprised they even wanted to deal with us in the first place. And Dune, I've actually just finished "Bitter Harvest: the great betrayel" by the late Ian Douglas Smith so don't think I'm not aware of both sides of THAT matter. -
I reckon someone should mention this to Pahars in Riga via twitter as I'm sure the good people of Latvia would be very happy to hear the Portsmouth North MP effectively suggesting to the PM he support a club associated with stealing their pension money.

I hear the latest rumour down Krap Nottarf is that storrieteller is soon to make a re-appearence!...apparently he's been spotted in the car park!

Well, I'm sorry, some of the blue few look to be normal people...until they start to write rubbish, some of them I say, because some make a fair bit of sense.
