  1. They need to remember that like us, they dropped down the leagues like us too....or perhaps we should remember how fickle the fans become after a few years of success.
  2. I hate it when people bang on about Lowe's contribution to our youth system....it was a pretty darn impressive one before he got here you know.
  3. He has a point that the two wars did basically cost Britain her empire. But would we still want to walking around today telling people what to do simply because of where they were born?
  4. I still find it ironic that a great many of the racist white leaders who he (attention those calling him a terrorist) initially peacefully protested against...not until the Sharpesville massacres and the like happened did he start a violent campaign against were (I digress) descended from an African lady called Eva (or Krotua in her native language). I also find it brilliant that Nelson's real name, Rolihlahla, means "troublemaker" in Xhosa. RIP Nelson, why couldn't they have taken Robert Mugabe instead?
  5. But brilliantly funny!
  6. Maybe that just want to see what ridiculous tax-free offer they make to him.
  7. Without Killer, I never rated Claus; Berkovic had the potential to be a great player if he wasn't such a b3llend and well, what a great bit of business Davies was! (virtually nothing from Chesterfield, sold for top money to Blackburn....still didn't make up for them ripping the heart out of our squad and winning a championship with it.....and then buying him back for virtually nothing), Plus, has everyone forgot that mountain that was Van Gobbel!!......what a beast he was....so Cantona found.
  8. A company calling themselves "Portsmouth Football Club" might have been founded in 1898 but that company doesn't exist anymore so really I don't understand why they cling to this....well, I do...mainly because they're ***ts.
  9. oops...of course.
  10. Just so we can giggle...although I'd also like to see a list of their potential targets published too....just to watch each and every chairman of the manager mentioned laugh very loudly.
  11. So they're basically trying to tap up all the good managers in the league they're in since they think they are the giants and can bully their fellow league one'ers eh? Same old arrogant pompey.
  12. So that would make him James Ball III (since his dad and grandad were both technically James Alan Ball). I'm sure he once had a trial with saints but we let him go.
  13. Let's cut out all the nonse-sense! (see what I did?) the man was found innocent of all charges so technically Kaiser Soze, that's libel.
  14. See, I think the left (and I'd call myself more a middle-of-the-road left winger) need a "Harold MacMillan" Winds of change type speech to explain to a lot of them the situation that we find ourselves in today (for example Europe); I mean a lot can bury their heads in the sand in an idealised world of mutual harmony and getting along but the honest truth is that things are getting out of hand, social cohesion is breaking down and people just are not as happy with the european status quo. I believe that nobody is 100% left or 100% right and it's that mixture that need to be catered for. I mean for example you can be very pro-NHS but very anti mass immigration. Things just are not as clear cut anymore and people like Brand and indeed Johnson need to understand this.
  15. I met him once (as a very young nipper, a few years before we moved to St. Mary's)...he used to still run around the touchline of the pitch most mornings right up into the mid-eighties; until not long before he passed away, he was an incredibly fit man for his age. Also very soft-spoken. I always tell someone I know from Norwich that, a. there's a statue of a local lad from Thetford outside Southampton's stadium and when he asks why, I always reply that b. this club owes more to that man than he ever knew or would admit to knowing, a lovely unassuming fella (I would very surprised if he'd be too happy we've made a statue of him, since he'd probably say he was just doing the job he enjoyed). I hear he had a canny eye for talent spotting and finally, if you watch the 76 FA Cup final, when we won, who was sitting next to Lawrie and the first to congratulate him? that's right, Edric "Ted" Bates, r.i.p Mr Southampton.
  16. Poor man's Jordan Sibley.
  17. That was more in jest than anything.....well, them being a royal navy town that is!
  18. http://georgeweahscousin.com/2013/11/25/pompey-im-your-man/
  19. Being a Royal Navy town, they must have a few crates of whiskey around to offer him.
  20. Well, the tea boy's in with a shot!!....they'll have to supplement his wage of complimentary biscuits with tax free tea and coffee however...it's the pompey way innit moosh.
  21. Oh, now THAT is just brilliant...I think I'm more inclined to think that perhaps the league thought they' be worse off with a eath of a thousand cuts as this is the last year of the para payments right. Besides, they must have gotten that wrong, that had to be St. Mary's surely moosh?
  22. Now, I'm sure I'd find the equivalent of that comment from the Championship and League One if I tried hard enough on this board.

    MOTD

Did someone say Hockey?... Anyway, I thought the comment by mr LineAker was pretty foolhardy; I mean (to Alan Hansen) "you've never encountered a goalkeeper to do something like that have"....nope, he only spent a decade playing with Bruce Grobbelaar!
  24. They must be mistaken, the Snooze that is; I mean, I read the following... "Boos rang out on the final whistle, along with chants of ‘that was embarrassing’, on another day to forget for the Blues." Boos? no, surely this can't be true, they never boo their OWN players/heros/villans do they?
  25. The irony that he was a police officer in Norway never passed me by when the bosses in John Lewis always got security to "keep an eye on him" as they always thought he was on the rob.
