Ahha, Trunno...I once made the mistake of taking the train from Toronto to New York....slightly further than I expected! (kinda 9 hours one way. But you're so right. It's awesome in Ontario). Random fact about Toronto; if you watch the Hulk movie with Edward Norton in it, Toronto was made to look like NY (Only thing that made it obvious it was Toronto was the great big Zanzibar strip joint sign!)
-
Too true, it's a big issue in New York, especially in the summer. I stayed at a place called the Hotel Beacon on Broadway once and it was teaming with em.
-
I've stayed at some seriously dodgy places in New York; from the YHA Hostel on 92nd street to a hotel opposite the Flatiron....Actually, I've also stayed at the Helmsley...not bad at all. New York is kinda the most "European" of US cities (in that it's shedload more expensive than most other US cities. You should try to go on one of the organised Central park guided walks and maybe the Staten Island ferry (both are free/cheap). Also, seriously, you should try to take in a game at Madison Square Garden (or at least a tour....it's bloomin awesome!!!)....Perhaps check out the TKTS booth in Times Square too (if you fancy a cheap Broadway experience). My biggest tip has to be to get yourself down to Penn Station (under the garden) and see if you can't take a nice train ride places like Philadelphia or DC (Only about 2-3 hours away)...well worth it.

Pap; I don't know the figures but don't most of these crimes happen in the home and are usually committed by people the victim knows and often goes unreported? So, theoretically at least, we'll never truly know what goes on in any town?

Is this still on the cards? if so, I assume he wouldn't want to manage a conference side then? http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/342135.html

They are...They're all in your head Bearsy...just like Syphilis. (Seriously though, banks have been pumping imaginary money into the economy for years

Yep and it irritates Canadians and Mexicans immensely. Although, to be fair, it's a piece of cake to get your hands on a gun in Mexico also....Not so much in Canada. Nit-picking yes, I know. But people are people as an American friend said to me the other day: "If they ban guns, we'll probably just find another way to kill each other".
-
] Well that's artistic licence, but, at least in North America you don't get so many varied and beautiful landscapes so I suppose if we're using this we could say "Canada, the cold north", "Mexico the warm and arid" and (The united states of) America the beautiful. I think pap's right though, it would take a very brave politician to even attempt this idea put forward here. And CB Fry, I'll try in future to back my points with statistical evidence.

You don't need to insult me. I am not an idiot and I never once said it was because of population size, I said they had a much bigger population but I didn't say that was the only reason, I also didn't insult you. Also, when I said methodology, I meant I have mentioned I have hydrocephalus and have had many brain ops which re-wire my neuropathways a little bit so my reasoning is a bit different to yours and I tend to go around the bushes a bit. But if you want a really honest opnion? The ignorance starts with the title of this thread "What is wrong with America?" which one, north or south and if it's in the north do you mean the United States, Canada or Mexico and I also don't think you can lump an entire country, it's ignorance. There are great many troubling and scary people there with all different circumstances (and excuses) and I don't think a blanket ban would work, yes, I can rant about how it's unconstitutional (a lot over there would) but in the end, it's never going to happen so I could skirt around the issue, give you as many suggestions about what the cause may or may not be, but in the end, a ban will never happen.
-
I've explained my methodology. I need no more quips from you.
-
That's unarguable....fair enough. I was just thinking about the regularity of these events.
-
Remind me again, what are the population levels? 70 million vs 300 million?

What do you think lurk in those mountains? effin great big bears! there's serious wilderness out there you know? there are places over there that need that type of protection...I mean, imagine calling the police here if you're being mugged. You'll wait an hour for them to come and say they can't do anything about it. Well try phoning the cops when a black bear is attacking you(and I've camped in a lot of places where we've have to put our food, spray cans and anything else sweet smelling up a tree so it doesnt attract them) so no, in those situations, a gun would come in pretty darn handy.

Just when you thought mankind couldn't stoop any lower...

That's disgusting! I used to work and went to college with Richard Ellerey, who died in Aldgate and his parents would never do a thing like that. Shame on her. -
Negative Nancy!!....I agree, it wasn't a brilliant result for us but hey ho, let's take a quote from Nige "Positive Mental Attitude" and lets get on the bus!....Seriously though, yes, they are a better side and we do play them at the end of the season so it's probably not gonna happen but it'd be fun to try!
-
That implies we're happy where we are.....why should you ever be happy and not trying to constantly improve?...5 point gap at the minute?....it's do able.

Nigel Adkins....Come on, he did mastermind back to back promotions....and he's a lovely bloke!

The way Elia was all emotional and commented on Koeman after the game reminded me of Le Tiss and Alan Ball (always ironic since one of his greatest footballing friends was Koeman's mentor Cruyff).

There is no way in the world he looks 27 though!!

Yeah I reckon it was pre recorded a while ago as I saw one of his tweets the next day along the lines of "So having woken up and seeing the tweets I have, I assume QoS was shown last night".

Private sector management in the NHS is more efficient and effective.

Yep, I think a few of the people in that photo were definitely there. Siemens is a French company right?...Ironic that France has one of the best public healthcare systems in the world yet we're hiring from their private sector. -

Very good question actually. I must admit, I felt quite uncomfortable with the Radiologists having to have like 4 suited Siemens execs stood in the room watching them use this new digital panoramic x-ray machine. So I suppose I could say not very good actually -
Newcastle United vs Saints - Build up

That's actually a decent team, I'd be confident with that 11 of at least a point. -

I had to have a cerebral-spinal fluid x-ray series yesterday at the General and was shocked to find Siemens had their own office (with a massive Siemens sign on top of the door too) which I thought was a bit wrong but to hear two Siemens execs coming out of that office talking about "increasing their future revenue streams through the NHS" wound me right up.
