I recall Stig’s debut off the bench during a turgid opening day of the season 0-1 loss against Bolton. Didn’t do much in his brief cameo. However Andy Williams (who started) imo looked very useful before running out of steam and I remember walking away from the Dell thinking ‘hmmm we may have lost but we’ve got a player on our hands here……’

If ever there was a league to hide a manager’s inadequacies by virtue of facing inferior opponents that is surely it yet after 1 league win in 7 against said inferior opponents he’s being smuggled out of the stadium for fear of being attacked by enraged sweaties. Thanks, decent shouts (presumably, in the cases of RVN, Pires and Del Piero whose injury records I have absolutely zero recollection of). That said RS has effectively been injured for 3 entire seasons, Shearer, Keane, VVD not as long. TBH I’m just fucked off that after finally seeing him put in a good display and looking capable of being ‘the answer’ he’s back out again, however predictable that was. Hope he gets back quickly and permanently but, let’s face it, he almost certainly won’t.
