Love it! Chortle chortle chortle.

What a brilliant design. This should have a thread of its' own.

Please shut up Yodel Boy! You're getting on everybody's tits with your constant whinging and ambushing of decent threads. Go to a game and then you might have some justification.

I was at Tranmere yesterday and agree 100% that the referee was a cheating t0sser. He, more than anyone, was responsible for the defeat. Fair play to Tranmere. They played to their strengths and created problems for Saints but their first goal was so predictable that in some ways it was, or should have been, our wake-up call. We still can't defend set pieces! The pitch was perfectly playable so no excuses there. Perhaps we can't handle the subdued atmosphere of some grounds. Despite Saints fans being there in good numbers it seemed really difficult to create a good atmosphere and keep songs going. The loudest and most consistent songs were aimed at the referee, which really sums up how dire it was. Cracked up at the Tranmere fan who went to offer the ball to a Saints player for a throw-in and subsequently bounced it away from him. Such petulance!! The old bill had him straight out. Overall a poor result but a cracking day out. Respect to Ozan and the other Irish Saints we met in O'Neills in Liverpool. Well done to all other Saints fans who made the journey. (Apologies - posted originally in the post match thread)

Just read on the OS that you can pay at the turnstiles. Whoopee! See you there.

How many are going up? I understand that you can buy tickets on the day. Is that right cos I'm coming over from the IoM for this one?

Didn't Saints have the biggest flag in the world at one point? That would look good at Wemberley. Where is it now?

Phil, you're so right about it being part of the history of our club and city. Most estates and areas in the city had their gangs, Wimpson, Market Diner, Weston Boot Boys, Harefield etc. etc. (too many to name) but they all supported one team. Every gang used to adopt a neutrality (for the most part) when they went into town for a match day. I personally used to drink primarily in the Haymarket and Warrens and got to know quite a few other people from different areas. When you went away we were all Saints and it was a tribal mentality. We were protecting our team's/city's reputation and as simplistic as that sounds now, we all felt it was the right thing to do. As you say, you can't airbrush history and deny that it never happened because it did. My memories from those times are mainly distant now but threads like these bring to life some of those oh so familiar faces. I'd imagine that I would know countless individuals on this site and vice versa. Perhaps I'll see some of you at Tranmere, one of my "local" games. Regards, Pete Taylor (Weston)

Her name was Jane. She married a mush from Weston and lived above me in Rotterdam Towers. That Dave Beer bloke was reputedly a copper's nark. As you say, Creepy. Always remember "Mi-wall". I know he was deaf but surely he could have washed his skanky, greasy hair.:smt036

Tim, that's really bizarre cos she kicked me in the nuts as well. I didn't go out with her - too wild for my tastes (remember the cut-throats she and Gaye Cooper used to carry in their handbags?) - but I went out with a mate of hers who dumped me. I didn't want it to finish, Pat persuaded me otherwise! I can still hear her maniacal laugh as they ran off towards the Lord Louis. Ouch!

I certainly remember Dougal. Couldn't say whether he was killed by rival fans or not. I'd think it was unlikely but I did hear that he supposedly threw the Spud's leader, Sammy, off a train bridge in London.

Like 70's Mike, I was there for most games and for me the real buzz of going to games was the aggro. It all seems so stupid and pathetic now but at the time it was the norm. Sheffield Utd was a real cracker. I remember we were all at the back of their end and when the stand was nearly full we all charged forward and their fans scattered everywhere. However, once they'd regrouped we were forced to one side of the end nearest the cricket pitch. The real fun started in the big underground roundabout in the centre of town. Their fans were coming from different directions into the main circle and each time we fought them off. It was like the Alamo! Anyone remember the Swindon away game? We took their end but there was some bloke who resembled Giant Haystacks who just wouldn't budge. Also Chelsea. About fifty of us went into the Shed. A massive brawl broke out, I was nicked so don't know what the outcome was. Happy Days!

Storrie teller has been quoted in the Times as saying; "I've seen salary figures of £1.4 million bandied around for me but my basic salary is less than half of what has been reported. "The rest of it has been a bonus given by (former owner) Sacha Gaydamak every year. That's in recognition of me keeping the club going for him by selling players. But I am prepared to cut my basic [pay] quite substantially." Surely he meant past years or is Gayboy still implicated in this in some way other than being a creditor? For a man that's allegedly owed over £30m he doesn't seem to be showing up much on the radar. Could it be that the combined debts of Chin-up and Gayboy are purely fictional amounts? Apart from being done for tax evasion and fraud, they should also be done for necrophilia. They've been ****ging this dead corpse for years and rather than injecting some life into it all they've actually been doing is stirring the porridge. YUK

Class!

Scrap the Premiere league and bring all the clubs back under the umbrella of the Football League. Fairer distribution of money, every club playing to the same rules and no more self-protectionism!
-
Nice one! Cheers.

Just looked through the sky listings and they're showing the Carlisle/Leeds game again at 01:30. Anyone know if the Saints highlights are being broadcast anywhere?
-
Yeah, totally agree! And let's not forget that the same percentage probably applied to Pompey supporters as well. They're here to support their team - and we all know how difficult that can be. Let's have the craic, take the **** but fighting, who needs it.

The paint pot is an admirable achievement for lower division teams, of which we're one. It'll be a great day out for the fans and a lasting memory if we win it. Don't dismiss this out of hand but take it in the context of our current position. Good things come to those who wait.
-
The same ******* whingers coming out with the same krap! Get behind our team or fook off. It's a 5 year plan - not 5 months.
-
That's what I thought too. Am I a woman or is my feminine side getting stronger?
-
It was 'vibrant yellow'!

Well, I quite like the 'Who Dat' song. Perhaps we should adopt the New Orleans Saints and have our own 'Who Dat Nation UK'
