I loved my iPhone and I love my Samsung, only drawbacks with Apple is they don't freely allow you to choose your own ringtone, you have to fart about making one and copying into iTunes etc, and they don't allow the use of Flash. The Samsung gives me more freedom but I would go back to an Iphone without a problem. Android still doesn't have Bejewelled Blitz which sucks after the length of time it's been out, and supposedly "under development" but that's a minor gripe. Both systems have good and bad points

I concur with Enslaved Odyssey To The West. Brilliant game. Bulletstorm is a good fun shooter with fast pace and humour. I'm currently playing Skyrim, part of the Elder Scrolls series, something that I would never think would appeal to me, but once I got into it, I haven't been able to play owt else. Another really good fun game is Borderlands, loads of different guns to shoot things Thoroughly recommend Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Apart from Skyrim you should be able to pick the others up cheap via Amazon or eBay

I changed from iPhone 4 to Galaxy S3 about a month ago. The only apps that I can't get for it are Bejeweled Blitz and iFooty otherwise the Android marketplace is now on a par with iTunes. I no longer have to import music folders into iTunes and sync the phone, I just copy the album. It's expandable too. For an extra tenner my 16gb phone now has 32gb and all my music for the car is on it Battery life is an issue and I agree that a case is essential, but otherwise I'm very happy that I made the change away from Apple

This is a strange one for me. I recently bought a double CD of the Doobie Brothers. CD1 I ripped to my PC and when I listened to it back, it's got white noise mixed in with the song. Imagine listening to the song as if played through a sieve? I played it both using Media Player and Itunes and both exactly the same. CD2 ripped perfectly. I've played the CD on both of my Windows 7 PCs and get the same result, played it on a CD player and it's perfectly ok. I played it on my wife's laptop, with Vista and it played perfectly, so I had to rip it from there, and copy it, yet the 2nd CD plays perfectly on all my machines. I've recently updated my klite codecs, but they were not the problem Anyone have any ideas why this might be?

Funnily enough, I've just moved from my iPhone 4 back to an Android phone, for I was getting fed up with the way Apple dictates the way things should be, and iTunes. Surprised no-one has mentioned iFooty as a must have iPhone app, though it's similar to the Sky Sports Score centre thing, as a freebie, it's pretty good.

Thanks, it does look good but too small for me. I'm looking to replace the iRiver which is 40gb
-
Thanks for that. I'm not interested in the app side of things just as a Bluetooth and portable music player.

I'm thinking of binning my old iRiver H340 to something a bit more fancy that is not an iPod. I've looked on Amazon and seen an Archos 70 250GB internet tablet which is about £180 and looks pretty good for what I want, but I was just wondering what other folks would recommend. I've got an iPod but I mainly use it for backing tracks for my guitars and likewise my iPad is a bit cumbersome for music on the go.

Knowing our luck it won't be Johnson but Stewart Bloody Downing

To be fair when he was Jermaine Jeanas I thought he was decent, but when he changed his name to Jennas he was never as good. I think he would actually be a good signing. I was extremely underwhelmed when we signed Rickie Lambert because he was a journeyman striker with a patchy history in lower league football but a powerful shot. With the right coaching and fitness on top of a proper diet, he's turned into a phenomenal signing. Jenas could be likewise, but that assume that the story is true in the first place. It would imo show ambition because he's the type of name we wouldn't have been associated with under previous regimes

James Beattie in 'complete and utter c*ck' shocker. Complete surprise

Thanks for the replies. I'll ring Richer Sounds and see what they say

Can anyone suggest a decent set of wireless headphones? I have an oldish pair of JVC ones that are maybe 3-4 years old. They're adequate, and I use them for playing my guitar through my Ipad, but the hiss is bloody off putting. I use an iRig to connect the guitar through the iPad and they are notoriously noisy, but I also played music through them, and it was no different. I saw some "noise reducing" headphones on Amazon, but they seem to talk about noise on aircraft so I didn't order them, what I want is a set that doesn't have any hiss

Wondering if any Saints fans who are also rock fans would want to take part in our daily Rock Trivia quiz? It's run on behalf of former Y&T rhythm guitarist Joey Alves. He does the quiz most days too, but there's only 4 of us playing regularly and we could do with a few more. It's free but you need to register to play http://www.funtrivia.com/private/main.cfm?tid=22963

So how do you run the super hub as a modem only? Is there a setting on the admin page? Given that the superhub has moved I would guess you connect the Virgin media via a network cable to your own router ?
-
Right, so I guess I need to do the reverse. Wonder if either of my old routers could do the job? I've got a DIR655 by Dlink and an E4200 by Cisco. Can you tell me what the repeater is that you have used?
-
I have the combined router/modem as supplied by them. I'm pleased overall with the coverage downstairs and moderately happy to slightly dubious about the dongle connection upstairs.
-
That sounds a bit above my current capabilities. I have a Cisco Linksys Cable router which is now spare. Are you saying that you dispensed with the Netgear cable modem/router that they supplied or is that still in use as part of your network?
-
Thanks guys. Much appreciated
-
I'm fairly PC literate but for many years my router has been hard wired to my PC in my little computer room which is upstairs and was originally on the old house wall, but we had an extension built and it's now sort of in the middle. I always had very patchy coverage on my network downstairs. I've managed to get an upgrade from Virgin Media and they moved the hub downstairs to a more central location and the coverage is great now downstairs, but not as good where it was upstairs which is now via a Netgear WNDA3200 dongle. I was wondering if I bought a wireless PCI network card running at 300mbps whether the speed would be both faster and more reliable?

Because he feels that the views of others are being imposed upon him, and I agree with him up to a point. Gay people are entitled to everything that anyone else is entitled to, no argument there, but when religion comes into the equation, it does change things as Gay marriage goes against the teachings of not only the Bible, but Islam too, and probably other religions. It sort of makes the point that if we didn't have religion, then a lot of issues wouldn't ever arise, and the hypocracy of these guys is amazing, but there we are.
-
Because he is seen as a Church leader like it or not, and it's against the teachings of the Bible. Gingletiss is right, the views of the minorities are being forced upon the majority with regards to gay, lesbian transgender as well as racial issues. OK I don't think I'm bigoted and don't have a problem there, but others do, and it's their right to have that problem and as someone who is supposed to be seen to be preaching God's will, then this Archbishop chappie is entitled to his say, however repugnant you find his views
-
I guess there are two points here, one going back to the civil partnership ceremony, and legislation which was forced upon people to carry out these ceremonies in contravention of their beliefs, surely that can't be right? The other point was the criticism of the Archbishop, again he made the comments based upon his teachings, now regardless of how hypocritical we might see them, I just think if those are his beliefs, then he's entitled to have them and if we value free speech, then he's entitled also, to air his views After all, if we lived in Jeddah, then this conversation would be a no no
-
I think people need to make allowances for people's beliefs. After all no-one would criticise a Muslim for making the same comments as the Archbishop, yet Islam sees homosexuality as a sin. I don't think you can force people to accept something they see as wrong if their religious belief tells them that. We might see them as backward or offensive but if we are to have a diverse community then it can't be purely on the terms of the 'right on' or the politically correct. If a devout Christian thinks gay marriage is wrong then who are we to criticise them? I have always believed that legislation is the wrong way to deal with certain things. Education is a better way, as forcing someone to accept something they see as wrong just creates more resentment and bigotry. If the bible says that homosexuality is wrong then then how can the church justify gay marriage ceremonies when it is in direct contravention of their teachings?
