You need to be on the M3 from Southampton end by 06:00 at the absolute latest if you want to avoid the worst of the traffic at Winchester and then past Fleet Services and come off at Junction 3. Earlier if you can. I did 6 months to West Ealing last year and I'm currently doing a commute to Knightsbridge most days. I make sure I'm on the M3 by 05:00 so I know I'll miss all the traffic. Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest days and Fridays are 'relatively' quiet(er) - so much so that I used to leave for Ealing 07:00 Mon/Tues, 07:15 Wed/Thurs, and 07:30-07:45 Fris. The reverse is the case for the return journey in rush hour, with Monday's being fairly easy and gradually getting worse by the hell of Fridays.

They're struggling to get drivers. Partly because any driver who does a small amount of research will find out what they're all about - and then wouldn't go anywhere near them. Their business model is awful for drivers. It goes something like: Take on as many cars and drivers as possible; use lies/promises of earning potential; omit to tell drivers that they won't limit vehicle numbers, regardless of whether there is enough work; push their affiliated vehicle leading/finance schemes to as many people who can't actually afford or otherwise obtain credit; when they have saturated an area with vehicles, then cut fares and increase commission (knowing too many drivers are tied in to their finance agreements to leave); contribute to take off 25-30% of every fare, while drivers are forced to work 70-80hrs a week to cover their costs and net minimum wage, thus putting themselves and passengers at risk; siphon off most of their commission earnings as 'royalty payments' to their holding company to tax havens and pay little or no tax in this country. It also helps that, for once, all of the major taxi and private hire firms in Southampton have stuck together - barring drivers from working for Uber whilst on their books; and warning that if drivers leave to join Uber, they will not be allowed back to the other companies. Basically, any driver who is foolish enough to jump ship with or without understanding what they are letting themselves in for, deserves all that Uber do to them.

Are you going to show me where I said that?

Any driver who is found to have signed up with Uber will have their service agreement with Radio Taxis terminated. And rightly so. I believe other local companies are taking the same stance. Anybody who isn't currently a Hackney or PHV driver, would have to pass the council rest s d checks before being licensed to work with Uber. Add that to the cost of buying a vehicle and making it compliant with SCC rules, having an expensive camera fitted and purchasing the correct insurance and it doesn't make driving part time for them for their low fares viable. It is different here to many cities around the world, thanks to the council regulations. You can't just use your family car and lie about your insurance cover.

They launch today , 4pm. It will certainly be interesting to see how any driver who joins them fares. Especially when their licensing fees, running costs, and 25% commission to Uber is deducted from their cut-price fares. Hilariously, they will only have themselves to blame when they struggle to pay their bills and feed their families; because any driver that leave the major local companies to drive for Uber will not be allowed to rejoin, so will be stuck as driver slaves in Southampton [emoji1]

You've only got to search #ubered on Twitter to see how rife it is. It's hardly surprising that this happens - it's either incompetence because of the lack of checks/knowledge required of Uber drivers, or it's deliberate by the drivers because their earnings are so low thanks to Uber's pricing. Uber lures drivers in with false promises, signing up bonuses and the like. They even 'kindly' provide access to guaranteed HP or lease deals for new Priuses, that the drivers end up barely being able to cover the cost of because of the number of drivers they are competing against at such low rates and giving up such hefty commissions to Uber for. There are loads of Uber driver forums like http://www.uberpeople.net/forums/Quit/ for evidence, class action suits against Uber etc. But the bottom line is the average consumer doesn't care, as long as their ride (legal or not) is slightly cheaper than a traditional, heavily regulated Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle. Ignoring the fact that Uber is often very much not the cheapest, people who use Uber will only have themselves to blame when their local traditional taxi trade is wiped out and then Uber can charge what the hell it likes, surge pricing and all. Uber drivers are modern day slaves, making a handful of investors very wealthy by skimming 20-25% off the top of low prices that the drivers would struggle to live off of if 0% was taken. The public just sees 'shiny app, no cash' (ignoring the fact that there are dozens of similar apps for the Taxi/PHV trade, locally, nationally and globally) and 'cheap prices' and doesn't care about the underhand and unscrupulous tactics that are employed to achieve it. I can't see the problem going away for some time, not while Uber are chucking huge amounts of money at PR, slick advertising and incentives to lure unwitting new slave drivers. They are, however, losing millions and millions every month, so we shall see.

When Crouchie was going to sue us... :-)

SaintsFun existed first; then the B-anter forum was introduced when TSF (or whatever it was called at the time) introduced infractions, warnings and tedium. Good times [emoji4]

Using them as a customer for price (if you can avoid being surge-priced, getting taken stupid routes, having your account details hacked/sold etc) is one thing; being a driver for them when the company reduces prices and increases commissioner will, is quite another. Any driver that gets fooled/conned/lured into driving for the is an idiot and deserves the below minimum wages rate that they'll eventually net. Check out the #ubered hashtag on Twitter. Or read the tales of despair from virtually ever driver on their drivers forum. http://www.uberpeople.net/forums/Quit/

If only he'd stuck to good old analogue penetration, instead of this new-fangled nonsense. He might've got away with it. -
The railway is definitely still there and in use - mainly at weekends, by really old people. This was taken a couple of months ago.

Rule 1. -
You were incorrect. I was correct. The blurb you just posted, proves why. You said "your choices are don't go or lump it" - that is ONE choice, with two possibilities/options; 'don't go' is one possibility, and 'lump it' is another possibility. The choice is between the two possibilities. It is one choice.

That is one choice, with two options.

It must be the retailer's charge, as Apple doesn't charge a transaction fee to the customer for using Apple Pay. Surely the purchaser would have know this, or it would be on his/her receipt/documentation?

Skiathos. I never understood people who holiday in the same place every year and vowed never to do the same. I sneered when, on our first visit to Skiathos, someone referred to it as 'the boomerang island - because people always come back.' We have been back every year since (and twice last year) for one of our holidays each year. Small island, direct flights (one of the best landings in the world IMO), 60+ beautiful beaches.

Interesting choice of phrase. I skipped through the video twice. First time it started on a locker full of semi/-naked, oiled up men; second time it was a couple of benders kissing. Your search parameters to find this short film must be quite telling. Is this your way of testing the waters before your big coming out announce the on here?

Personally, I can't believe that nobody on this thread has mentioned Raheem Sterling's running style...

Shame for the players themselves; but LOL @ AFCB [emoji1]

He was back from his loan at Hull before the end of last season, due to injury. He got fit, then injured again in training. He's now fit again.

I have an iPad and Apple TV. Although Kodi works fine on the iPad, when I AirPlay it to the TV, the picture doesn't fill the screen; the easiest and best way for me is to just play streams from the website and AirPlay to the TV (full screen.) recently, the streams have been faultless and so good that you forget you're not watching Sky HD!
