I can't confess to having seen every AL performance, but I can say that having seen a great many that was a stand out one today. One to bank, treasure and remember. He was worth the ticket money alone, and he should be a beacon to all young professional footballers. A loyal leader, a sportsman, and overall a good all round guy. Hats off to you Adam, that young man was a performance to saviour. For those that criticise last year's performances please reflect on on what it takes to be a top class sportsman. being picked and asked to perform when you are clearly not fit does have it consequences in your performance.

People in the Kingsland North corner sitting down?
Eaststander replied to 100% Saint's topic in The Saints
Funny thing is you all sit down at half time, those that aren't arriving late and disappering to the toilet half way through the half. Back in the day when you stood, you arrived at 1:30 to get space, not 3:05, and you left after the final whistle. -
The boy done good today, he has the potential to be great. For those that think he was a waste of money get a grip, for those that think that he is the finished article after today, get a grip. He is somewhere inbertween, but on the right path for sure. If he keeps working hard like he has done since being here he will repay the investment over the period of his contract, which is all we can ask.

Its ok, they had a nominated steward to carry a bucket of water, so that satisfied H&S with regard to the flares

Have to say that I thought the abuse he got in the warm up would back fire. He had a cocky smile in his face when he realised the abuse was aimed directly at him. But he is a weak man mentally, and it got to him. No doubt about it the crowd played its part today. He wasn't expecting it, and he wasn't expecting such isolation either as we exposed his weaknesses.

Things you learn from interacting on the Saints Web forum.....
Eaststander replied to St Lej's topic in The Saints
Gareth Bale is only half the player he was when he left us -
Lawrie's testimonial was against the European Champions Nottingham Forest. Micky Channon's testomonial is part of 1976 folklore, and a night never to be forgotten, against QPR. Monday 3rd May 1976.

The king is dead, long live the king. For those that think that by buying match tickets and attending matches you are investing in the club, you are very much mistaken. You have received the repayment for your "investment" in the entertainment you received. End of. I could choose to buy a ticket to Marwell for entertainment, but it doesn't get me the right to decide which breading program they should adopt. As a season ticket holder I have chosen to get my entertainment from football. The quicker we all calm down take a deep breath and move on the sooner we are going to start winning football matches under this manager. Someone once said "a house divided will not stand", now who was that?

Good on Punch, he has turned his life around, got his head down and getting the rewards. But lets not get carried away, he is not international quality. Small steps.

What a load of codswallop. Who has a 15 minute clause in a contract. Utter tosh. No one can prove that they have seen it. I know let's get Newsnight to investigate. Funny how The so calledLes Reed influence wasn't mentioned when we were on a winnig roll.

What is Nigel's plan B for the winter...
Eaststander replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Pithces have moved on since the 1970's. The issue we suffered last year was that we couldn't break teams down that came and "parked the bus" with a line of 9 defenders. I would argue that we haven't seen that this season so far. But the real test will come when it does happen, and it will. What is the plan B then? This will be the real test of NA and the coaching team. Impact players, squad roatation and picking teams for mathces will be the key. -
Stick to you FIFA 11 games, and fantasy teams and we will get on with living in the real world.

Oops meant 40! Too long.

Glad I wasn't the only to be wishing for 7 on Saturday. Won't be happy until that one is avenged. It still hurts now, and it's nealy 30 years later.

A brilliant piece of business strategy. Buy AOC's replacement before he left, so we don't get held to ransom, and we maintain continuity. For those of you expecting the money to be spent straight away, then think again. Part of this has already been spent. This is a business that has to balance its books, and not just in transfers. The investment in the Academy, sports science team etc and the long term deals that many have signed over the summer all need to be financed. Once the dust settles then invest again, buit only IF the the right player is available at the right price.

Biggest Flop Signing & Low Expectation That Came Good
Eaststander replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Speedie and Dixon. Biggest flops ever. End of. Gordon Hobson was better than I ever thought he might be. But I did have very low expectations. -
did we win something then?

It will approaching ten years since Beattie was in his pomp at this club. Good times yes, but that does not mean that they can be brought back. Shall we pair him up with Pahars again, I don't think so. Many on here are still traumatised by the Dixson/Speedie fiasco. What we need is the next JB and MP, young, keen, and willing to run defences ragged. Let's just move on up and let The likes of Beattie sit back and look on. His days have past.
