  1. The Chelsea squad situation is intriguing, they've got 4 senior international players there, on probably £500k a week between them who have been told they won't play a min if they don't leave (they won't even be registered). Sterling, Chalobah, Chilwell, Fofana, Broja - Broja will probably end up staying as he's injured again. Sterling, Chilwell and Chalobah have to leave though, surely? Fofana is worth a punt for a top champ club.
  2. It'll be interesting to see Meghoma's development now, he moved because he wanted to play (we'd offered him a new deal, he only has a year left - so we had to take the money). I thought we'd only get a couple of mill tops, although I expect that £10m is based on shed loads of clauses - we'll probably only see 4 or 5m guaranteed.
  3. Having a goalkeeper who can actually make saves is going to be a refreshing change for us, it feels like it's been an issue for so many years. I was always confused when Arsenal side-lined him after that season, he was excellent for them. Has the move to Raya given them that extra %? No, not at all. Very odd way to treat him. Our gain though. We're defo. fortunate to be getting someone of his level, it's ridiculous in fact.
  4. He was my pick had we stayed down, good player - would be a fun one to develop, similar to Jay Rod. Not good enough for where we are now though. But he's way better than L1, obviously will be the highest paid player in L1 too. Should score stacks of goals, Birmingham would have failed miserably this season if they don't hit 100+ points.
  5. Don't forget, Ross '2 weeks' Stewart is only 2 weeks away from seeing the grass.
  6. I think the club have put it all into Ramsdale if I'm honest, we'll have very little money to play with now. Striker is still an option for a loan, even with Cornet as a loan. We're limited to 2 English loans, but we can have more European loans.
  7. That's not what he was saying. McCarthy came into the team because Bazunu, the first choice, was injured. What he's saying is without someone like McCarthy being able to step into his place, we'd have struggled to go up. Probably more criticism at Lumley than anyone, but I didn't read it as critisism at all.
  8. I won't ever happen, it's just all fluff like China did a few years ago. There's no global interest in Saudi Arabian leagues, it's all manufactured crap. I don't see the appeal to be honest. It'll just end up a graveyard.
  9. Going to where their careers will die. Sad really, both of those players are still of a good level and are useful in European leagues. Obviously they'll both be set for life and their families lives, but they signal the end of their proper football career by doing so.
  10. He's gone there because of the love they gave him though, honest.
  11. He was only ever signed as third choice though, not entirely sure why he took up the spot on the bench most of the season. Seems as if we'd have always called on McCarthy if needed. Those third choice keeper spots are proper cushy numbers. Scott Carson and Stuart Taylor have made an absolute fortune out of it.
  12. This never felt like something that made any sense, we're already stocked in his area. Hope he gets a move though.
  13. Cornet for Burnley was excellent, almost kept them up when he arrived in January - that's how you sign a player to impact in January. Very direct, very quick, strong - can score all sorts of goals. I remember him smashing in a couple against us for Burnley, at least one outside the box. Was handy on the day at St Mary's, their best player. I think he got a serious leg injury right at the start of his WHU career, and then got an infection on the back of an injury, there were real risks he'd have to lose his leg at one stage - so that's why he's been out for so long. Obviously WHU evolved on from him though, so he never really got the chance now he's back fit. A loan is a low risk try option in an area where we needed an extra bit of punch.
  14. Under the fake guise that it's to aid with fixture congestion. The same fixture congestion that isn't even a debate when these clubs fuck off to Australia for friendlies the week after the season has finished.
  15. It's a shame what's happened to Broja really, at the start of that 21/22 season with us he had the world at his feet. Looked unplayable, not just domestically but internationally he was scoring for Albania most games. Got to wonder if his career would have panned out differently had he signed for us, as we tried to do that in the January. He'll probably end up at a top half Championship team in the second half of the season.
  16. Yeah he was absolutley blowing out of his arse, same with SAA. Can't overplay these guys just yet.
  17. Awoniyi is still there. Absolutley skied his penalty last night, it's still in orbit.
  18. Forest have hijacked Ramsdale already, so we've put on a private jet to fly one of their current GK's down for a medical. #AnnounceMatzSels
  19. I would agree with that, he's always been a ball watcher and more of what I'd call a last ditch defender - normally because he's having to react after a player has got in front of him. Bednarek at PL level is somewhat similar, he does like to step out though and take a risk, Champ level not too dangerous but at this level it can be a killer - he tried that against Forest too and Elanga left him for dead. THB is more proactive in how he defends, although he had a pretty woeful day last weekend. (distribution wise he was awful)
  20. He has signed, we're just sorting out the paperwork for his subsequent loan to Gotzepe. Then it'll be announced.
  21. He can do that role, I've always thought he's better in advanced midfield off of the right. We do win our fair share of corners and free kicks too, so potentially JWP for his delivery alone is worth a fair few goals. It's a odd way of looking at it, but we could look at it as buying a specialist number 9 to score goals (we're shopping in the dregs now with very limited $$$), or we bring in a set piece specialist on loan to bring more out of what we have. (and he will add goals himself) I still think it's intriguing that the all but certain loan deal for Ramsdale is actually a perm. They're keeping that slot free for something.
  22. I can see why he'd go. We've got Suguwara, KWP, Taylor and Bree. Stephens and THB can also cover full back if rqd. Either Bree or Manning will go. I think the club were fully expecting KWP to go, which is why we acted pretty sensibly to bring in Suguwara early doors - but it looks like we'll have to fit both in. Not a bad position to be in.
  23. You mean he isn't gutted to be leaving the bestest and the dugouts??
  24. Yeah that's fair, I just wouldn't want a move for JWP to close any opportunities for positions I feel are more important. If we can still sort out the other positions and get a bonus JWP, I don't think anyone would moan. Lots of competition in CM then.
  25. I just don't know where he fits. It feels like we've moved on from him as a squad. If it's a choice between attacking reinforcements and JWP I'd almost certainly float to the attacking reinforcements.
