Yes, I remember my dawning moment very well even after all these years. I was a kid living near Worthing but didn't pay much attention to football at Primary school as I attended one in a small village in Sussex where not much happening was an event. When I got to senior school at age 11 most of my new friends supported a team somewhere (mostly Spuds, West Ham or Liverpool in the mid 1960's) so I thought I should have one too. I was waiting at Worthing railway crossing for a train to pass whilst on my evening paper round (12/6 a week !!) one Saturday evening and to relieve the boredom I saw in that afternoon's footy results THE MAGIC WORDS.........West Ham 2....Southampton 6. Oooh, I thought, they look good - think I'll support the Saints. And I've had 40+ years of unremitting nervousness and misery ever since. Well, not ALL misery - there have been some great moments.............haven't there....???
