  1. Apologies for joining this particular discussion late on and if it's been posted elsewhere but if a boycott is being seriously considered the thing to do for maximum impact would be a mass half-time walk out against high profile opposition in a televised game - er, aren't we playing Man Ure very soon.........??
  2. Not really, when you consider there's b*gger-all alse to do in Norfolk apart from sheep and baiting the Tractor Boys.
  3. Well, I'd think that Sheffield Wednesday would be in the financial mire for sure. If press reports are to be believed their players had to shell out £60 a throw for their own train fares to London on Saturday for the match against Palarse. I don't think even Saints have had to sink to that yet - although I stand to be corrected - so maybe our financial problems, despite the gloom, are not as bad as some of the other clubs in this league. Anyone got any inside info on others situations ?
  4. Buy the retro shirts, they are much better quality and more interesting.
  5. Yes, I remember my dawning moment very well even after all these years. I was a kid living near Worthing but didn't pay much attention to football at Primary school as I attended one in a small village in Sussex where not much happening was an event. When I got to senior school at age 11 most of my new friends supported a team somewhere (mostly Spuds, West Ham or Liverpool in the mid 1960's) so I thought I should have one too. I was waiting at Worthing railway crossing for a train to pass whilst on my evening paper round (12/6 a week !!) one Saturday evening and to relieve the boredom I saw in that afternoon's footy results THE MAGIC WORDS.........West Ham 2....Southampton 6. Oooh, I thought, they look good - think I'll support the Saints. And I've had 40+ years of unremitting nervousness and misery ever since. Well, not ALL misery - there have been some great moments.............haven't there....???
  6. Still, look on the bright side - TWO games unbeaten now and could be FOUR by next Saturday evening. :-) I am, of course, being ironic.
  7. Cork and Schneiderlin were not with us when Gorman left. I agree with you, however, about Lallana whom we will be very lucky to hold on to come January.
  8. .......unfortunately I have to agree with Saint Fan CaM. I watched the edit of JP's post match interview on Meridian earlier this evening and the poor bloke looked completely shot. I did state that when he was appointed this would turn into a complete disaster but on a personal level I have warmed to him despite my forebodings. But in that film clip the body language was not encouraging and I genuinely felt sorry for him as the enormity of the task is slowly beginning to dawn. I know John Gorman got slated on this site but on leaving the club I believe he did warn that the kids simply were not ready yet. Looks like he may have been right.
  9. Player of the season practically given away. Less than 19,000 for first home game against what is possibly one of the better sides in this division and probable odds on for a direct return to the Prem. Last one out turn out the lights please.
  10. Two out of ten :-)
  11. Doncaster ? Don't even think about it ! I was a student there in the late 70's around the time that "Open All Hours" was being made - it was filmed close to where I lived then. But, my gawd, what a sh*te hole it was and probably still is. I wouldn't say it was bad but they pulled my old street down and built slums to improve it. It really was the P*******th of the north. Some of the women were OK though, I seem to remember doing quite well.........Oh to be 22 again !!!
