  1. Try archive Page 37 Post 9022 When some (like myself) complained about £3 per ticket booking fee for booking over telephone you claimed it was justified Sorry - don't know how to post link
  2. Disagree We have this lovely vision of football but it does not exist anymore. Watching your football team is a choice not a right. Football is business, i don't like it but unfortunately that is how it is and we can thank the Premier League for that as well as greedy players. I would think that SFC are trying to get families back because they know that if a kid enjoys his football he will want the shirt, the hot dog at half time, the quilt cover, curtains etc..... And in that regard SFC is competing against theme parks, cinemas etc.. and so far as far as families are concerned then I think the pricing is 'reasonable'. Families only have so much disposable income and football may not win everytime as a priority for most. That said, unlike the club that RL inherited (already established family club playing top-flight football) and that under his stewardship hit a decline, NC has taken on a club (albeit with much better facilities) that was in the s**t. In order to make money (because that is what he and ML want to do) we have to be succesful and grow further. With that comes decisions that we as 'customers' may not like but they are NC decisions to make and ultimately he will face what ever consequenses arise from those decisions. I hope he gets balance right because if he does then ultimately we should all benefit.
  3. I hate it ! And I hate what SFC have done with regards to this BUT unfortunately football is now a business and I don't see what NC has done is anything different to any other 'entertainment' industry. BUT in line with some of this thread, overall, football at SFC can still be called 'resonably priced'
  4. To try and put some perspective on things To take me and the kids to football for the season will cost about £18 a game as renwel season ticket holders IF i choose to take kids to cinema and see a film instead the tickets cost in region of £30 for 3D film (non-imax, i'm not a millionaire !) AND the cinema will charge me a booking fee as well if I buy tickets online AND they will charge for the glasses now. IF we go to Paultons park - expensive, Marwell, Legoland, theatre etc.... EVERYTHING has a cost and out of all those football is rather reasonably priced. Choice is a wonderful thing people

I must say that i'm sure I recall you dismissing a number of fans (like myself) who complained about the £3 PER TICKET fee when booking JPT final tickets over the phone. At that time you thought we were 'moaning-minnies'. Why the self-righteous indignation now ? You've posted quite a lot recently with nothing in support of how the club are progressing, everything for you has a negative slant to it. Whilst i appreciate the time and effort you have put into a lot of your information and whilst i appreciate that there are fans out there who do not wish to accept everything we are spoon fed by the club and are trying to take the club to task (we never want another Wilde fiasco), you do seem to lose a bit of credibility with this campaign because of ALL the negativity and very little balance. What did NC do to you ?
  6. can't agree with the word 'respect' when used in conjunction with RL / fans. That is pushing it a little bit. Personally think the club is a bit more professional now. I'm sure that when ML/NC came in they said they would run club as a business so not surprised with majority of changes. Think the main current problem is too many changes at same time and zero explanation. As per previous management, communication should be key and the lack of communication is very frustrating. Just don't see the point in the RL/NC - NC/RL debates though as this question isn't as simple as a black/white answer. RL was not the anti-christ as neither is NC. Just don't understand why everyone has to look for a villain.
  7. Lets cut to the chase, ML, RL, NC - ****, snog or marry ?
  8. Cortese has converted the directors box and is building a huge throne so he can sit and gaze over his minions on match days whilst waving car parking passes, hospitality vouchers without legends names on and missing matchday programmes in a mocking manner.
  9. In summary - i would feel like any other football fan in the country Of course they purchased the club as a business venture and of course they want to make money. Is this a bad thing ? As long as the pricing is reasonable to the average man on the street then he will go (problem arises as the average man seems to have differing opinions over what is reasonable). Look at this years season tickets, personally i think they are reasonable, particularly when you take into consideration that the club are investing in the team and making promotion an achievable goal. Are they doing this to keep me happy - no. If we get promoted then revenues will increase and ML/NC will make more money. Will I be upset if they make the money - not if they continue to invest in club / facilities / team. The season we just had was one of the most enjoyable I have had for a long time and next years has the potential to be better - no bad thing in my book. I do think the scrapping of the payment plan at very short notice was much worse than actually scrapping the plan itself. And I think the booking fee is naughty. As for the new kit / lack of sponsor etc... call me a cynic but i agree with what Dave BP was saying. There is no sponsor because in L1 we cannot maximise sponsorship revenue BUT next season if all proceeds as NC obviously wants, we should. Selling a 'one off' kit, great gesture receiving great response from fans which should balance out lost revenue for L1 sponsorship BUT again - not disappointed with club over this - Bottom line is I don't have to buy a shirt if I don't want to. As for your comments alluding to fans being threatened with legal action - bit of a strange statement for someone who is trying to start a 'hypothetical' debate. Obviously wouldn't like that - so what do you know / getting at ? Not just happy clappy over results - more happy clappy because at the moment we seem to have STABILITY.
  10. Has anyone yet seen a free kick taken in this World Cup that hasn't gone 10ft + over the bar ? This ball doesn't seem to dip at all when its hit. That said, no excuse for some poor performances. Lennon & SWP - can't cross / can't shoot Heskey - Striker who doesn't know how to score. Yes he held ball up well and did some good lay-offs but surely there must be someone strong enough to hold up the ball AND know how to shoot as well? Someone like Kevin Davies would do a better job. Carragher - I hate the scouse ****. Over rated, very slow, dirty fouling b*stard. If he plays anymore games in this World Cup he will be a bigger liability than Green. Also, Capello has some questions to answer. So far he has been pretty faultless for England but why start with Milner if he wasn't fit / hadn't recovered from illness (if that is the reason for his poor 'performance') and why did King come off ? I hought he struggled to play consecutive games, not consecutive halves. And as others have stated, why choose SWP over Joe Cole when change needed to be made.
  11. He was a big hero at Rovers so do we think he would go to City ?
  12. There were some great performances (top 4 in poll is also how i saw it) but for me it had to be Harding. He was playing out of position and had to mark a very pacey winger and basically had him in his pocket. Think the fact that he had to cope with being out of position and yet still performed at a high level just tips the balance for me.
  13. What a great weekend - Started off with the kids getting their photo taken with Rickie on Saturday outside the saints shop, as if they weren't excited enough about the weekend already ! Totally unexpected and Rickie was superb, he stopped and had time and a smile for everyone. All of us were looking forward to Sunday and thought it was a great final and day out. Players were great, the sight of so many fans was amazing, and the reaction of my little boy and girl was the icing on the cake. They've enjoyed their football this year but yesterday really was a day for them to remember. Lets hope we have many more. Very proud to be a Saint
  14. Family friendly venue - my arse. Ticket only and allegedly sold out - and yet doorman taking cash on the day ! Was a very big rip-off - no other way to describe it. If Nick wants to discuss it then very happy to hear his view of events. And if he doesn't like the the term 'rip-off' from a 'faceless' forum poster then i'm very happy to accept a pm from him and meet up to discuss personally. Unfortunately i do not know him personally and do not have a contact for him but very happy to offer him my opinion. If he isn't to blame then i'm sure he should be OK to make some comment. That said - an irritation on what was a fantastic day with friends & family on the whole.

  17. Apologies - your sentiment was the one that i was trying to get across. Have been very impressed with him, he just doesn't always seem to get the recognition he always deserves. When he is in the side his contribution seems to go unnoticed by many, but when he isn't in the team we seem to struggle. (Should have worked harder on my English O-Levels)
  18. pardon ?

  20. Someone said the other week that Saints don't know how to win ugly. Well last 2 games have been as ugly as hell and we've walked away with 6 points. The starting formation was a very bad move by AP - players all looked totally lost and we were lucky not to be more than 1 behind by the time HPool actually scored. Last night was a good opportunity to watch Morgan closely in first half and I can't recall him actually wasting a ball. He just seems to find all the time he needs. As has been posted by many others before - you only seem to notice him when he isn't there (if that makes sense!) A win is a win but lets hope we improve performaces again soon.
