Opposition fans let out at the same time as home supporters....
SnailOB replied to Redbul's topic in The Saints
There have been 2 'large' incidents involving fans inside 12 months. Both involving south coast ' rivals'. Due to the nature of the games, both fixtures hasd extra policing BUT police still thought it was OK to let fans out at same time. Quite bluntly, how ****ing stupid are the Police. Regardless of rights and wrongs of fans violence and how 'grown' men should know how to behave, its the innocents, young fans, families etc.., that get affected the most by incidents like these. If you have extra police because you 'expect' trouble then go the whole ****ing distance and make sure you limit interaction between rival fans as much as possible ! Holding fans back is common sense and should have nothing at all to do with human rights. -
I do recall a time at the Dell when Wright was leaving the pitch he received a torrent of abuse - usual bad language (possibly some racism). Wrighty did a v-sign and believe he swore back (along lines of ****-off). All of a sudden we had a rush of idignant fans that were disgusted with Ian Wrights language (but were happy to turn a blind eye to the foul language coming from their own fans) and reported him to the police. So I'm with Turkish on this one. Mock indignation from fans when a player replies is rather pathetic and I'm not surprised by Ian Wrights comments on this occassion.

As Saints NOR Adkins have made any statement at all regarding offers etc.. do you not think Adkins should be ****ed off with his current chairman ?
-
Is Adkins proven or potential ? for our current circumstances i'd say he is proven (i know you didn't want names but just wanted to ensure who you would class in either camp) So I would say proven. Proven to be able to achieve promotion, and to provide teams that can compete at at least this and the next level and to have done so for more than a one off season.

Was it NC or ML ? On the BBC blog by Paul Fletcher he said that ML wanted rid of AP but NC backed AP. This blog is one of the only media reports that have stated any information about the rumours you heard about APs departure (apart from Martin Samuel in the Mail saying that he had seen a text sent to pardew complaining about Gulys short appearance time against B.Rovers) BUT all your rumours point to NC being the guilty party. I'm not backing NC in this but would be nice to know that, if the fans/media want to carry on finding scapegoats and potentially damage the club further, we are demonising the right person.
-
Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail claims to have seen a text message from NC to AP so he must be talking to someone.
-
As some of the rumours for Pardews sacking involve him having 'relations' with women that he is not married to - do you think Jewell is the ideal candidate ? As he also likes to have 'relations' over car bonnets - do you think he will be happy to pay for parking at St Marys ?

IF its true Sooooo many rumours - which ones are true (if any !) This one seems to be couple of posters repeating each other

Shearer is a managerial coward. He loved the adulation when he was constantly linked with Newcastle and the fans calling for him to come as their messiah. he would just sit on the MOTD sofa looking like a smug git whilst lapping up all the adulation and giving vague paltitudes to the little probing questions from his MOTD colleagues. When did Shearer take Newcastle job ? only when damage was so far done with the club that he was in a win/win situation. If team failed and went down, not his fault as damage already done. If they survived then he was a hero with a big bonus in the bank. Either way he pocketed big bucks for doing f**k all ! I would rather have some of the people that post on this forum than Shearer

Maybe Blackpools desperate attempts to find some players has scuppered a few of our deals ? We seem to be looking for the same prospects that Holloway is at the moment.

Its only a select view though. Its either posters who seem to prefer to be negative or posters who just don't like the manager. I was unable to see the game yesterday but the result did not come as a surprise. There was no way that a team that had created as many chances as Saints in their first two league games were going to struggle and we were going to batter someone very soon. Its good to hear that not only did we score the goals but we also maintained this run of creating chances. Thats why i laid off posting on the threads for a couple of days because discussion was going nowhere. A lot of posters are either glass half full or glass half empty - very little balance on here at times. For now, those who said Saints were creative and that it wasn't time for panic were right BUT the glass half empty posters will just be waiting for next poor result to happen so they can come on here and start the negativity all over again ! -
Totally agree, thats why i find it hard to understand why you 'appear' to favour the negative view. Such as this 'hoofball' analogy. I agree that there are areas that still need to be addressed with the team but if you followed the more positive (dare i say it 'balanced') posts it might be nice for some of us to see if 'Alps' has a cheery side : )

I don't believe Antonio is the be all and end all of all our woes BUT there was something exciting about watching him just kick a ball into the direction of the corner and looking at the full back as if to say, I'm going to run for this, see if you can keep up ! Just a shame that his final delivery could ruin all the hard work ! That said it did give you a different element to the play and was certainly very effective late in the game when he was used as a sub as, by then, the opposition were exhausted. We do not have that outlet at the moment hence my feelings that the team tire, panic and kick aimlessly at present as they have not had the luxury of being a couple of goals up in the league games at the moment. In that respect I would agree that AP is limited as he does struggle to change a game. I would say he sets his stall up very well and thats why I've disagreed with some of the comments that we are a hoofball team but if we are not ahead after 60 minutes - whats the plan ??
-
You are choosing to quote those that you perceive to be correct to fit your argument Yes there has been 'hoofball' but as someone mentioned, seems to come with panic when team are chasing a result I have not seen Saints play hoofball from first minute of game, i have seen them play a lot of passing football, creating a lot of chances and they have been unlucky in front of goal. When things haven't gone their way panic seems to set in and the we see a bit of 'hoofball'. I wouldn't say this is the team reverting to type. But we can rightly ask why this happens. Is it Pardews instruction ? Is it a sign of a league one statndard player just not good enough to do anything better when pressure on ? If its not Pardews instruction then why is he not resolving this ? BUT to say Saints are just a hoofball team is definitely wrong. This is not pardew luvvie talk, this is not a rose tinted/everything at Saints is great view, I am trying to be balanced, unfortunately too many want to take the extreme view whether it be good or bad. Alps you have not seen them play (and I stress this is not an ex-pat cheap dig etc..) various people have posted the same sort of view that I have but you choose to side with the opposite view. How do you make a reasoned opinion ? How can you clearly state stop the hoofball when you are not even seeing them play ? Did you see the Plymouth game on Sky - did you think we played hoofball all game there ?
-
Short answer - don't know You suggest that Guly maybe a NC signing but then interview with AP suggested he knew a lot about the player ! I hope its positive, thats all I could say for now

That is a bit of nonsense 4 games !! 2 league games (the importnat ones) The others Bournemouth in cup which we won Bolton in cup - Premier League in a narrow defeat where we created more that they did Pre Season - agree, a bit wasted BUT against higher/better opposition without 4 of our main players......... -
We've heard plenty about AP waiting for 'better' players but i am starting to have my doubts about this. He has been saying for a while that signings on the way and so far we have signed Guly who is an unknown quantity. Wouldn't class that as waiting for better players. That said - I still believe this team/squad is able to beat anything in this division so don't believe we are desparate for 4-5 more players. What they do need to do is start turning the plentiful chances we have had into goals pretty soon.

I'm not disagreeing with you. OP stated lack of patience at that is what i was originally questioning in some of my earlier posts. I assume you have seen the games, did you think we played bad and looked like a bad team ? Ididn't, obviously we could have done better but we have created plenty of chances and Barnard in particular has been unlucky not have a couple of goals to his name already. As i've stated on a number of threads, i'm frustrated but not ready to condemn the manager and team -

And if we were playing badly and not creating chances i would agree with you. But we are creating chances and i still believe that the team we have is good enough to beat anyone in this division. We would all like one or two more players but even without them we are still good enough (also just to be pedantic, we also signed Dickson, Richardson & Butterfield) Agree we have been very slow in transfer market but then we spent bloody big in January. Would also agree that pre-season seemed to be a bit of a waste but lallana, puncheon and lambert were not able to take much part and they are 3 of our main players. -

Thats how i see it as well. problem seems to be that we do not turn all the early chances into goals. Team then gets desperate. That was seen particularly in first 30mins of both Plymouth and Orient games where we outplayed but didn't breakaway from them. In the Orient game we could have been 4 up in 6 minutes. I remember saying to my mate that we were going to hammer Orient as we were all over them 'playing good attractive / creative football'. To say that AP is creating a 'hoof-it' style of play is way off the mark -

Interesting question. I find Jaidi slow & distribution is also very poor. Already this season we have had posters saying that Seabourne just hoofed ball away and dismissed him as an option - quite frankly Jaidi doesn't appear to be any better. Think Jaidi / Seabourne / Martin are much the same. Pardew needs to make a decision and stick with it because the most important part will be the 'partnership' with Fonte.
