I'm not advocating that at all! The fact that he couldn't push on with scunny was down largely to their lack of resources...we saw how much of an overhaul we had to go through last season just to have a fighting chance of being promoted. He couldn't have done any more which is why the fans love him and also presumebly, why he wants that chance to go the extra mile here. I'm just finding it hard to understand why there is so much negativity when there is as much chance of him coming here and doing well. History is littered with unfancied managers doing what supposedly big name managers couldn't do and this may well be our turn

Some people need to get a grip. Our first priority is to get out of this league and we are talking about someone who has done just that twice in the last 4 years. You seem to have decided to dismiss that and talk about him norrowingly escaping relegation from the npc....which is still a great achievement considering the size of scunny. It's also worth noting that Nigel Pearson is held with such high regard on this site and for what?.....narrowly escaping relegation from the npc

Exactly.....it's pointless posting a reply to the OP or other relevant post as it mostly just gets lost in the middle of all the bickering little girls. Agree with the OP on this entirely and I think that a reasonable thread on the summer transfer policy which had to be locked last night sums it all up really. I know CB Fry for example is of the opinion that this forum has always been this way and it has to a certain degree but I'm of the opinion that it has got particulary bad over the last few months.

Anyone who booed the team in either game is a disgrace imo.....yes we narrowly lost against Plymouth but the players didn't deserve that on the first game of the season.

If it was a long term illness then I'm sure all senior staff knew.... As a couple have already suggested long term illness does explain a few things like the large investment in the squad in Jan and the eagerness to make the play-off's last season.

Tbf it has been attempted by other clubs, although with little success but only because of the backlash from the media. exactly, even when we do make an appearance in the nationals our one or two paragraphs worth doesn't even merit a picture! They are just worried that this will set a precedence in sports journalism (I know others have tried and failed) but ultimately this could well be normal practise in a few years time, others just need to follow suit

We have three excellent strikers at this level....most sides are lucky to have one. I don't think another out and out striker is as important as decent CM cover and more pace from midfield.

I share two of your three hopes....the last being the standard of football would be a bonus for me and I wouldn't say that this is an absolute must....we just have to get out of this league first and foremost and if that means playing ugly then so be it! In any case I thought we did play some nice football last season but admittedly only against teams which gave us space and time on the ball
