I havn't seen a single poster say that we shouldn't buy anyone. More over that it wouldn't be the end of the world if we don't get our targets which is exactly what NC and NA have both said. There is no point buying for the sake of buying, only if you can bring in better than you already have. Spend some time looking a the squads of other teams in our league and then say this squad isn't strong enough. Most of our subs would walk into most sides easily

Love a bit of irony! Please explain how best you "inform" yourself?

Some people either have very short term and/or selective memories. We played "Russian Roulette" a couple of years ago when trying to get out of the champ....it didn't pay off and we were left with a huge squad on huge wages with no sustainable way forward. For me, the management teams approach to transfers this window is quite simple: the squad we have is good enough to get promoted but they are always looking towards the future and if possibilities arise to improve the squad for when we go up then they will do so, either now or in the summer.

Hahaha. Bournemouths chairman deserved that after his cringeworthy annoucement he made the other day outside their stadium that Howe was staying. You could see how uncomfortable Howe looked, now it seems we know why! Do feel a bit sorry for the fans, especially as they were led to believe he was staying Bye bye bompey!

Great post!

If he was out as long term as 6 months it would be pointless hiding it just to create a smokescreen for Saturday. I think we would all be pretty ****ed if the club are advising of a minor injury and it turned out to be something serious. Just don't see the logic in it tbh

This thread is giving me a boner!

The fee is for the news articles..... Oh wait ......

I can't remember a manager making such an impact so soon in my lifetime of supporting saints!

No doubt that we are good enough, but also need to keep one eye open on the champsionship (hopefully) for next season

I heard everything is ready to be signed...only thing holding it up is that Martin O'Neil hasn't checked out of his hotel room on the outskirts of Sothampton yet which is where they are planning on meeting...

Chamberlain to Arsenal or Liverpool £10m
Dig Dig replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
True but it now seems that his Dad is trying hard to get a move to a big prem club. Think there was an article a couple of months ago in a local popey rag whereby he explains the reasons why he chose saints. He also mentions playing for a top club and it seems the interest in the national press has escalated from there. -

Good point re the Barcelona vision but the reality is we're not Barcelona and whilst that is NC's vision it probably isn't shared by the player or his skate agent of a dad. I know that if we lost him, we would suffer but only if we didn't replace him. There are very good pacey wingers out there who could do a job. Our immediate aim is get into the prem and with any potential transfer money pumped back into the team, I can't see it disrupting that goal -
As good as they have been in the prem, thay are only two bad results away from the relegation zone....can see them playing a very weakened team but with Holloway at the helm, who the **** knows!

Despite what NC has said he'll go sooner rather than later. Once the big guns get involved and the nationals are all over it then it really is matter of time. It would be sad to see another great prospect leave but at the right price, I don't think it would undermine the plan to get back to the prem. He is a talent, no doubt but at the moment he isn't irreplacable and the money being tauted around would be enough to build a Championship winning side on it's own. -

Very specific! Lets hope NC is reading ; ) -

Saggy chops is getting involved now. Hope we get a good deal for him. A loan move back would be ideal if he does go now or in the summer. http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/4254/8/tottenham-join-arsenal-and-liverpool-chase-southampton-starlet Realisitically, how much would you want for him? With a 3 year contract, I think around 5 million plus add on's would be good. If that sort of money is pumped into the team, thats alot of money at L1/Champ level -
I think from what he said, we can connect the dots. He's says that the attributes which NA has were lacking previously and he cited motivation and coummuncation. This also ties in with the stories of the training staff being unhappy and unmotivated under AP. If this is the case then the sacking is perfectly reasonable.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Arsenal-warned-off-Southampton-teen-sensation-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-article645683.html That old pattern emerging again.....Saints academy player gets attention is national press. Wenger or saggy chops eventually snap em up. Saints fans left watching the player score hatricks in champs league or for national team. Everyone praises Wenger or whoever on what a great job they did in developing the player
