Because he isn't a quality centre forward. He runs around like a headless chicken most of the time and is actually not too great a finisher either... needs 4 or 5 chances just to get 1. As I said, I'm happy to let someone else pay over the odds for players which are good for 5 minutes and are all of a sudden hailed as some kind of footballing god which we definitely missed out on.

650K is a reasonable price for CMS anyway, especially considering he didn't have long left on his contract at the time. He's a very limited striker so I'm glad we didn't pay over 2MM and offer him huge wages like Brighton did.

Like some of the other immature posters on here, this is just about wanting see Saints spend millions and millions just to satisfy your desperate need to see it happen. Is ambition the same thing as bending over a barrel and paying whatever anyone wants? Would it have definitely stopped us from losing last night? And this coming from a man who complains about having to put money into the club at any given opportunity.

If he's still learning, that's pretty shocking considering he's been playing football for over a decade. It's not that hard a game! He's just not very good technically and has to overly rely on pace and directiveness far to often. He'll end up as a mid table player

Not too long ago there was a constant feeling of dred about the prospect of our best players leaving. No matter what was said by anyone, they mostly always left. So I wouldn't believe any statement from either side if the shoe was on the other foot. If Saints cool off and Hooper doesn't get a new deal by end of January I can see this happening late.

There was no mystery signing. NA was talking about Falque and MTL was talking ****. IMHO of course.

Oh and to those saying Guly isn't a striker, what the **** is he then? He 's played as a striker for most of the season and scored 11 goals so far and numerous assists... sounds like a striker to me. I've also heard that he's not a winger or CM either so clearly not a midfielder as well!

So who do you think deserves to be dumped from the first 11 or squad the then, especially as you're so keen to see a major signing this window? All teams are weakened by injury and people have been saying the same thing for the last 2 windows and I'm yet to see us suffer such a string of injuries which has caused us to implode. We've got a good squad with good flexibility and options.

I can't be arsed to find the exact quote either but he said that we might get a loan, a small signing, a major signing or no one at all......can't see how that can build up a fanbase when essentially it means **** all. You could just as easily say he's underplaying our aims this transfer window. As I said, we'll have Lee shortly so we won't have to rely on the fitness of DC especially as RL and Guly rarely miss games anyway. I think they are keen to get someone with an eye on the prem rather than someone who can fire us to promotion. We've scored a bucket load already this season and NA appears to have lots of faith in our current players which is the right thing to do if the value isn't out there.

1) he never said that we might sign a "big name" and 2) show a bit of self control and don't build yourself up if you're so sure that it's inevitable that we won't make a significant signing. We've already got 2 of the top scorers in this league, DC is quality and we've already signed an International level striker. Another proven scorer would be a bonus but chill out FFS.

The fact that we're NPC has nothing to do with it. They would sell to BSC if the price was right for them. The fact that Celtic will only sell at an over the top price is probably the main reason why we won't get him.

TBF, I think he was just looking for pace at the time and his record at Scunny wasn't that appaling! Not sure why he was signed on a long term contract though. Even the most experienced and successful managers have some transfer bloopers from time to time.....just look at fergie and some of the "players" he's signed in the past!

Yes but Adkins has already confirmed interest in Hooper so it's not strictly true that nothing is announced by the club. Also, we've got no control over other clubs, players or agenst leaking things from their end so it's always worth discussing the things we hear or see elsewhere.

Maybe but there is so much politics involved in transfers you have to treat everything with a pinch of salt. A statement like this helps protect the player against a fan backlash should any deal fall through. Or it might be completely genuine. I'd be surprised if Hooper had never should any interest in joining however, most clubs sound this out before making a bid.

Happy at Celtic, not looking to move away,just wants to focus on playing and scoring for Celtic.....all pretty generic really.
