I see a team basically created from scratch from a point where it looked like we were free falling into an abyss. This team has played some of the best football I've seen in my time as a saints supporter, has produced more wins consistently than I've ever seen, been promoted, been to a cup final, and managed against the odds, to sit at the top of the championship for 4 months when the reality is that most of us would have accepted mid table. I'm not going to start chucking my toys out of the pram just because we've had a difficult couple of months whereby we've consistently been without our most influencial players. I'm proud of the team, the management and the club as a whole and I'll support them whatever the outcome this season because they don't deserve people turning on them so quickly, particularly when most of the reasoning behind it is based on idle speculation and rumours.

Who else thinks it's sweet that Dune is trying to impersonate his friend Turkish' posting style? Bless him.

It is like groundhog day on here sometimes. Now where is Trousers with the appropriate?
-
It's not random David, someone last time round was sure that the club had people watching the crowd during the game in order to select "suitable" candidates. Lol.
-
Yea but it's not relevant apparently

Rumours around that we are in for a young keeper from Brum. Not sure how good he is though.

I think ingnoring the point of a poster who has bothered to some research on the subject with an arrogant "I know best" reply is more pathetic. Other than the fact that Norwich signed 4 more players than us in the summer before their NPC campaign, whats the main difference then and why are the scenarios so different that we can't compare? You mentioned the sequence of wins and form but what does that matter come end of season? Much has been made out of our transfer activity so far but I bet that many on here would do the usual "underwhelmed" routine had we signed half of the players on that list above. What it shows me is that you don't have to spend millions on "names" in order to get out of this league.

I'm sorry Hypo, it's just that you speak with such authority on such matters, it's difficult for anyone to argue. I could put together a 1000 word post looking at the merits of both us and Norwich and come up with some sort of conclusion but you'd steam in with one of your enlighted one sentenced replies and blow it out the water!
-
Look it Hypo says it's a totally different scenario then that's that. Please lock this thread mods.

Bridgey said in another thread that NA said last night that he hopes to have 2 signings by the time he got back to St Mary's today. He couldn't work out if it was tongue in cheek though.... But maybe another one shortly!

Puncheon says sorry to NC for being a knob on twitter and for actions in the past. 1-0 to the CoC. Where is June now?
-
Touché indeed!
-
As poor as we were last night, if the Hammond or the Jos (think it was him at the back post) chances had fallen to Rickie we would have got a point. He's invaluable to us so in a game like last night he can be the difference.

Come on CB Fry, I know you want to join. The Cult of Cortese (CoC) meet every thursday in the basement of an undisclosed Italian restaurant. There is a mass suicide planned for the day he leaves and it would be a shame if you missed out. Dune tried to get in last week but wasn't allowed by the CoC committee so it explains this thread. So come on, tear down that old tired MLT poster from your bedroom wall and replace with one of our esteemed leader. You need salvation before it's too late.

I don't understand how the football league deem that they shouldn't get a points deduction?! Their parent company are in admin and now the club have a winding up order... Clearly have been mis-run and deserve a points deduction like everyone else who have suffered a similar fate!?
-
A winding up order from HMRC doesn't really mean much. How many times have they issues one and still not got their money!?

Yes this is Saints related!... Just hearing about Man Citys percieved struggles over the last few weeks made me think about some interesting comparisons with the mighty Saints this season. City, like us, were the early pace setters in the league and looked untouchable, particularly at home. However, the Xmas period seemed a bit of a struggle for them (again like us) and people are now questioning their credentials as potential Champions (sound familiar?). I guess the main point I'm making is that despite all of their investment in the squad over the last 3 years, lots of people are claiming that they are missing or have missed key players from thier squad and hence forth are not as good as they were earlier in the season. It just shows that EVERY team, no matter how much is chucked at the squad, have players that are so key to a teams set up, stlye of play and leadership that if they are missing, it has a profound effect on performance and results. IMO we have been missing elements of the core of our team for weeks now and it's no coincedence that our results of late have shown this. So above all, getting the likes of Fonte (and now Jos), Frazer, AL, Lambert, Chaplow back in asap is infinetly more important than anything else we do this January.

I agree and I'm not saying that we are there yet....probably won't be for a good few years. I was just pointing out that bringing up NC's comments about adopting a Barca model shouldn't be used as a stick to beat him with over our alledged lack of investment in the team.
-
Well, we have probably spent over 1/4 of the oxo money so far...and we've had confirmed bids for other players so it's not like we've been completely inactive thus far so I have every expectation that we will see more money spent. But if some or most of that money has to go towards balancing the books then so be it, I can understand that. Yes, every club would like to bring youngsters through but not many have the infrasture and ability to actually do it successfully like we do. My original point though was that just because NC talked about adopting a Barca model, it doesn't mean you can have the expectation that we will be making multi million pound signings. It's all relative.
-
I think he mentioned adopting a Barcelona model of bringing through home grown players and integrating with some more experienced aquisitions. Hardly banging on about being the "Barcelona of the South" is it? Love how many on here seem to have the insight and knowledge as to know how to run a football club. It seems that you only need to throw around few million of ML's hard earnt cash at the whim of fan base.
-
The worst thing about last night was seeing Jos limp off. If he's out for any considerable time, a CB is a priority over a striker IMO.
-
No, not because you offered your opinion but for including rumours which IMO are clearly ********. So, again I'll ask, where did you hear that NC dictates transfers to the manager?
-
And CMS looks utterly clueless in a lot of games as well. Just pointing out that the grass is always greener...
-
Yes I would rather have those two over CMS. How many goals does Guly have this season in comparison to CMS? And Connelly is class when he plays off Lambert. I'm not going to cast them both a side after last nights performance.

You need to stop hanging out with Turkish.
