Rather than argue the toss about rights, wrongs and controversies, I think this last line of the OP sums it up best. -
Decent parking at Heathrow airport T5 - Any suggestions?
Petersfield Saint replied to Spudders's topic in The Lounge
Do the official T5 business parking as others have said here, or just the normal T5 long stay which is next door (slightly cheaper but you have to wait for a bus). Both car parks are fine for space, look secure enough and your car stays onsite. I've been using them for years without any problem. Same at Gatwick. Or if you want to do the hotel thing then stay at the main Premier Inn in Bath Road who have a deal with Q-Park next door. Although the deal says for T1, 2 & 3 their shuttle buses go to all the terminals. Again, used several times in the past and never a problem. -
I skim read that and really thought that you were MLG! His reputation preceeds him!

Yup, this - and Capital One gripped my sh** many years ago - utter bast***s. Funnily enough, I've found Virgin Media to be ok - usually helpful if not very efficient. My biggest beef with them is over moving out of a cabled area into a non-cabled area and being forced to take their appalling ADSL service when I could have had BT Infinity. Ah, hindsight...

Oh, and this!

And in reply to the OP, my missus inherited her Dad's then top of the range TomTom (last but one generation now I think). It would be a great device but also has a shiiite battery life AND the charging cable keeps falling out of the socket (it's the socket that's knackered as we've tried other cables) to the etxent we have to tape it in whenever we use it. Conversely, my Dad has a very cheap Garmin model which seems to work brilliantly. I'm also looking at a Garmin Sat Nav for my motorbike as they seem to score better than the TomTom one - very pricey though.
-
Not out of the box; pretty sure that Google Maps still uses data - happy to be corrected though. If you want to be safe there are plenty of Sat Nav apps you can buy where all the map data is definitely pre-loaded and you can either store it directly on your phone or on the micro sdcard.

Here it is; not sure if anything in any other rags: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/jimmy-carr-tax-row-turns-905663

400 posts in nearly 6 years; I'm awesome!

I heard on the radio this morning that there's a big piece in today's Mirror criticizing Cameron's family and Lord Ashcroft amongst others for doing exactly the same.

Well summed-up as usual RB!

Agree with Alps and everyone else on here. I'm married to a German who earns double what I do (so who had the ulterior motive?!), isn't afraid to work hard and just has a much more open and positive outlook on life (unless you've read the sitting down to pee thread!) - just like all of her friends and family back in the Fatherland. So TDD - I say go for it!
-
I see Jimmy Carr's backed down today - fair play to him if so but whilst I don't particularly like the guy I think it's a bit unfair that he's been singled out while loads of others get away with it (and will continue to do so)

Would agree with point 1 but can't see it happening anytime soon through vested interests getting in the way. Not least from HMRC themselves; can you imagine how many jobs could be done away with if the tax system really was that simple? Good point; I would be interested to know the answer to that. If we all paid the same percentage then the rich would still be paying more in absolute terms (and as someone on a relatively modest income I would be happy with that); maybe if they were paying say 25% like the rest of us then they wouldn't worry so much about trying to avoid it. Yes, idealistic I know...

For that reason... I'm in! -
Went twice in 2005; once in the depths of winter when it was absolutely raw and again in October when the weather was changing from humid to cool (almost overnight). I'd definitely recommend going in spring or autumn if you want to avoid extremes of temperature. I wouldn't bother paying for breakfast in your hotel - go out and find a diner; they're everywhere and much better value. Be prepared to get pretty footsore; on foot is definitely the best way to see Manhattan but it's fecking huge and I found it nigh on impossible to hail a taxi despite there being thousands of them! I didn't try the Subway but most of the other posters seem to think it's ok. Don't worry about only going for four days - it's enough to give you a taster and it's the kind of place you'll keep going back to! I'm hoping to take the missus for her b/day later this year...

Which web browser do you prefer and why?
Petersfield Saint replied to TopGun's topic in Technology Chat
This. Used to be a big fan of FF but found it was getting slower and slower (especially when starting up) and the constant updates. I tried Chrome early on and wasn't convinced; went back about a year later and have used it almost non-stop since. Only use IE for a couple of badly-coded sites that won't accept anything else. -
Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)

OK, I have to accept there really is a 'looney' left.....

I think this is the real reason my missus enforces the rule, especially when other family members are present. My dad always seems to be able to blaze over in front of goal
