Friend of mine lived in Stony Stratford for a few years which is just on the edge of MK (5 minutes by car) but a nice, small market town with a few half-decent pubs. You can also easily commute from Buckingham and Bicester which I don't think are too bad. He also lived in Aylesbury for a bit which I found a bit rough. If you're going to live in MK itself then pick carefully as some of the estates are nice while others are seriously rough!

And I'll dust off the same story as I do for every Tiff thread - he used to come into the shop I worked in when I first left school (when he was still Tiff Needell, professional racing driver and not yet Tiff Needell, TV presenter). He was a bit up himself the first few times he came in but as he got to know us better he became a bit more down to earth. Good driver in the '80s in Le Mans cars etc. and as said elsewhere, no one was going to look good in an Ensign F1 car. Then again, what would you expect from a team based in Havant?

As a cat owner I agree with this. Ours only shiite in a litter tray indoors = our problem = happy neighbours. Shame most of the local dog owners don't think the same and think it's perfectly ok to let them crap all over the pavements and playing fields and not pick it up

Dune, I use The Trainline (them of the annoying adverts) - not because of the adverts but because I get Quidco cashback from them. You definitely need to book as far in advance as possible though and go for the non-refundable tickets for the cheapest possible price.

As to BTF's neighbour's car, I expect Handyman is right and that it probably has a made-up exhaust as the originals are no longer available. Don't know what the solution to that would be...

This. As a motorcyclist (with a standard, legal exhaust) it grips my sh** that Hants Constabulary spend every spring and summer weekend pulling over every bike in the county to check exhausts and number plate sizes yet seemingly do nothing about the local chavs in their noisy Corsas, fake drift cars etc. I used to live on the A272 just where it comes into Petersfield and noisy cars (especially late at night) were far more of a nuisance than bikes.
