Crab Lungs, pure genius sir! Especially love the "Ding ding dings"

Cheers Alpine - nice to know there's at least one other person on the planet who liked the Pony kit! :smt023

I knew him donkeys years ago (15 at least) and yes, away from football he was a decent bloke; even knew that I was a "scummer" and we'd just have a laugh about it. Don't know what he's like these days though; he wasn't tatooed up to the eyeballs back then either. As I said on another thread about him, my Skate mates think he's an absolute pain in the ****

2010 British Grand Prix at Silverstone

I still prefer Brands Hatch also - but mostly because it hasn't (by and large) been messed about with over the course of time. In my selfish opinion, losing the GP was the best thing that ever happened to the place. -
This And this; JPT represents a great chance for some silverware and I think going for this and aiming for the play-offs don't have to be mutually exclusive. Having said that I'm really not fussed about the FA Cup this year

Alternate History - morbid reading for a monday!

Hmmm, sobering stuff - though I'm not absolutely convinced that the USA would come as quickly to our aid as we did for them; just imo. And as for Threads - still have vivid memories of it even more than twenty years later  -

All interesting stuff but what about the scenario from Post #1? -
+1 very nice phone but expensive if you're not on a contract. Just got mine on 3 with the 24 month Spotify deal; good deal if you want an iPhone alternative. A colleague has the 5800 - nothing special imo but they are cheap. I'd try and have a go with one first as I didn't like the touchscreen. Or if you want to stay with Nokia but want a phone that does a bit more maybe a N97?

That just made the result a little more palatable!

Dear God, I've had the misfortune of having to take this stuff earlier in the year; bloody near turned me inside out!!! I knew I was in trouble when my missus who's a doctor saw the packet and started giggling... The thread is vintage stuff though, a fine read!!!

Burley Sacked as Scotland Manager

To be honest DD I was with you, Alpine and WA2 from the moment he stated his aim was for 06/07 was the playoffs - this following a strong finish to the 05/06 season and millions spent in the summer. Statement of intent indeed!! All I remember of 06/07 is frustration, underachievement, and luckily just scraping the playoffs... -
Agree with this; on paper we look pretty good and I don't think James is as bad as he's made out to be but like you say it's just not happening. Fine when we're scoring plenty at the other end but it's not always going to work like that. I also hope and think that Murty will improve things on his return but likewise worry about the potential lack of pace.

LOL, very good!

Good thread; the film is indeed called The Lives of Others and is a great watch according to my missus who grew up in East Berlin as was and was a teenager when the Wall came down. From her perspective as someone who was born into the State and didn't know any different she actually had a pretty happy, normal childhood and was oblivious of all the escapees until she visited the CheckPoint Charlie Museum only a year or two ago! She also talks about some of the other "good" aspects at the time such as a good healthcare system, no unemployment and almost zero crime levels (in her words there was nothing worth stealing!). After a few years in the "Free World" quite a few former East Germans hankered after the old days - and the term "Ostalgia" was coined! Will look out for the book as well - sounds good!
