  1. Parents are originally from Wembley and neither were the slightest bit interested in football despite both growing up in the shadow of the stadium - in fact my Dad used to go there to watch speedway rather than football! Petersfield was (still is!) a footballing wilderness when I was growing up in the seventies so I preferred just to follow England rather than any club. But like a lot of replies so far, Kevin Keegan was my childhood hero plus we'd always pass through Southampton on our way to visit my relatives in Cowes - so when he came to Saints it was a no-brainer for me. However, I never went to any games (too far to travel alone and parents not interested as above!) and I eventually lost interest in football in my teens. I'll own up to the fact that it was entirely Matty that got me back into Saints - that and the Branfoot protests on telly almost every night! And I've been going on and off ever since. I'm glad my folks were never into football or I might have ended up a gooner or a spud!
  2. Great shout on Carlton Palmer - turned out to be immense in the short time he was with us. Was also happy to be proved wrong on Strachan's appointment.
  3. Seen Hayseed Dixie there a couple of times; great little venue!
  4. Disagree - "picnic" eggs for me (with the egg all chopped up inside - don't get the gas problem either!). Agree with the comments on veggie food that looks and tastes like meat - weird
  5. Beat me to it! I thought this as soon as I saw the thread title!
  6. Great news Daren - look forward to reading it again!
  7. This. Agree with Alpine
  8. Too young for Golac, so favourites(as per thread title) rather than best: 1) Marian 2) Super Ken 3) Egil
  9. They've recently put signs up near the south entrance saying "Average speed check" so it certainly looks that way. TBH I have no problems with that as I'm just waiting for the first **** to lose control, cause a bloody great accident and shut the tunnel down for a year after it's just opened! Yep, that'll be me!! Just like I used to do with Imprezas throughout the '90s!
  10. Loving Mack's new avatar, nice one lol!
  11. That's good to know as that's my daily commute, cheers! Seen all manner of unmarked cars on the M27 of late; latest being a grey Subaru Legacy. I also have a healthy fear of Skoda Octavias!
  12. Always found the Fareham one to be ok; the one in town is sh*t though
  13. Went on a school trip donkeys years ago but remember it as a nice place and easy enough to get around. A visit to the Atomium was my stand-out memory from that trip; well worth a visit (assuming it's still there!). From memory they were mainly French-speakers but most had a smattering of English too; don't think you'll have any problems.
  14. Another vote for Kuti's - especially in Fair Oak. Worst would deffo be a couple I've had in P*mpey - 'nuff said!!
  15. Would echo the Talisman in Park Gate; same menu as the Seven Stars that I raved about on the best meal ever thread.
  16. The Madhuban in Liss, just up the road from me. Favourite used to be the Tamarind in Bosham but went bust a couple of years ago - certainly not through poor quality food
  17. Recently: Gaucho, just off Piccadilly Circus. Best steak I've ever had. Not so recently: Schimmels - lovely little restaurant in Wustrow, a small coastal resort in North East Germany. Regularly: The Seven Stars just outside Petersfield on the A272. Hall & Woodhouse menu - fantastic upmarket pub grub, reasonably priced and always brilliant service!
  18. Just the one this year But MK Dons at home - what a game to make it to!
  19. Same here, would have loved to be there. Egil! Egil!
  20. There are certainly two that I know of there! Must be at least one other in Petersfield then 'cos it weren't me!
