Very good post. After the departure of Cortese, I stated that our ambition was being pruned down. Indeed, mid table or even 17th and upwards was acceptable for financial reasons. Unfortunately, this is less ambitious than the expectations of most fans and thus we have a very unstable club.

Agree with what you say. It is very easy and 'simplistic' to blame everything on the manager. The squad quality has been allowed to decline over the last three years. In some respects we have benefitted last season from other teams sitting back off us out of respect for a team that they had played in previous season. Now they all know our weakness and are going for the jugular. Forster's stock has fallen the most. All the other teams know he cannot get down low to the corner of his goal and are filling their boots. We are in deep trouble and if lucky we might escape, but where is the team willpower?

I would agree but I could see at the time what people are now describing in retrospect. This decline did not happen overnight but started up to 3 years ago. It has been gradual and of course in the last few months is accelerating at brake neck speed. But, I will say again, the arrogance and complacency set in some time ago.
