Breaking News....Officially in a relegation battle
Dalek2003 replied to davefoggy's topic in The Saints
True, we had real spirit and were all UNITED in a genuine struggle. There was non of the arrogance and complacency we see now. The Board especially having been walking around with their rose coloured gleasses, noses up in the air! -
Breaking News....Officially in a relegation battle

MP is poor, but he alone is not the problem. Who chose the manager? Who made the decision not to strengthen in key positions over the last two to three summers. Why did we not replace the like of Mane and Pelle. What was the strategy concerning VVD? Yes Kat sold well but was it any good for the club? Who checked out the new owner and commitment to the club? One thing that began years ago was our ponderous lacklustre summer recruitment seasons. The wheels of club becoming stuck in thick treacle before coming off one by one. Saw this coming years ago. -
Breaking News....Officially in a relegation battle

The dangerous trend of complacency and arrogance started some years ago...it wasn't obvious but then 'gradual declines' are often missed in the early stages. -
Sadly, I think you are pretty much right and what is likely to happen if we go down. Then we will be sold and as Coventry have found can be a nightmare.

Does a new manager improve the teams chances of survival?
Dalek2003 replied to Pilchards's topic in The Saints
I am sure WGS would have seen us home and dry this season and yes, even Hoddle. -
There are enough poor teams to make it still worth fighting to get out of the mess. The thing that I can't understand is the total lack of urgency coming from the board. Extreme arrogance and complacency or is it that the club is in a complete mess behind the scenes with all the money gone down a black hole?

I agree, but I reckon we will have the same manager right through to the end. -

Never saw that coming...in the relegation zone, well I never!

That we were becoming dangerous complacent...'outrageous'
-
Absolutely, Saints to finish 17th, ridiculous !!! Saints to be relegated preposterous ! How wrong could I be?
-
Dear oh dear, what a bun fight going on between some posters.
-
Yep, agreed. Being saying this for years.
-
The answer is because they do not have a balanced and objective viewpoint. They are driven by an agenda.
-
Yes, and I have been warning about this for years.
-
Didn't you say the same for the last two summer transfer windows? Btw mostly the former. We need to keep to our budget and have perfected the art of 'dilly dallying' in a atmosphere of unrivalled complacency.
-
Say what you like, Hoddle was one of our most successful managers . The players wanted him back. The appointment of Luggy was bizzare, almost as if Lowe appointed him to prove that failing to support the re-appointment of Hoddle would lead to relegation. There are lots of examples were a manager has fitted one club but not another, most recently RK at Everton. I remain convinced that Hoddle would have kept us up and whose to say Markus wouldn't have bought a thriving Premier club?
-
Well, on the last point Norwich are on a good run and if things don't change will have more chance than Saints of being in the Premier League next year. Not that I am a Canary btw.
-
I have been posting at regular intervals examples of our gradual and potential decline due to complacency. I have been proved right. I am not a 'Jonny Come Lately'. No, I saw all the trends that people are now retrospectively talking about and you know it.
-
Ooh....now the same thing happened when the fans forced the board to appoint Luggy over Hoddle in 2004. I should be careful over your remarks or you will be lambasted for holding such opinions.
